  1. it's a bit difficult to hear and he has an atrocious estuary accent so I can't sorry.
  2. so let me get this straight, he's a starter at Doncaster in the CCC but only League 1 clubs are interested in him...suggests he's not up to that level then...which probably isn't right.Football fans do tend to cotton on to the most unlikely of ideas sometimes.Stock will be in the same place on the 1st feb as he is now....at Doncaster.
  3. as we haven't had a "hurry up and get your tickets" announcement from the OS I'd guess sales aren't too bad.People must be pretty bored with hanging about the house by now so I expect we'll get a bit of a bumper crowd.Perhaps 23K.
  4. Perhaps "winging" isn't a very precise science. I though Routledge was awful yesterday but certainly no worse than Simpson, Taylor or Tioté, it was he who got subbed though.
  5. did not Cortese recently castigate former regimes for giving up on said sell-on clause??
  6. 97 1982 Prince William Born
  7. aren't we supposed to be buying him for £50K??
  8. Finnegan played for quite a few clubs himself
  9. but they don't get all that many public holidays compared to many countries. No national day, not many religious days,so you can't really complain if their bank holidays don't get docked for week-ends.
  10. Told you what 11 is 1764=Forty Two Squared
  11. But if the bad weather continues some clubs will soon start getting behind with their re-arranged fixtures as well. If you take Oldham for example, they're already 5 games behind (counting tomorrow) plus the fixture correspondent to the FA Cup 3rd round game with us.We're only in December as yet and most of the fixtures lost in previous seasons have been in January and February. All these holiday season games being postponed must be playing havoc with cash-flow as well.Staff still have to be paid whether you sell any beer or pies or not.
  12. If you mean that shops, businesses and administrative concerns were closed then yes it was.
  13. yes it is a holiday. Christmas Day and Boxing day lead to extra holiday days when they fall on Saturday or Sunday, this year it's a bumper 4 day bonanza.
  14. Read the report of the Huddersfield-Hartlepool game. Seems that they were stifled by a young on loan keeper from Blackburn, on form keepers do seem to be making it hard for everyone in this league. We'd have beaten Brentford easily if it wasn't for Lee.
  15. we can't afford a cup run.
  16. [quote=gaz;918746k You can't win. True, but with modern bladed boots having the ability to snap tendons and ligaments in dry, fine weather, its very risky to put people's careers on the line for one questionable match. Now if I remember correctly we wore the type of boot that are made for stabilised pitches (you know sort of compacted red sand/ash sort of stuff) of frosty pitch days.Football used to be played on hard grounds and no doubt still is elsewhere.Only in wimpy soft England do matches get called off because there's a frozen patch around the tea bar and the hot dog stand.
  17. I don't know why I bother sometimes. Huddersfield will probably win today that's all. Our fans always tend to underestimate the enormity of the tasks that face us. Why last season the number that believed that we would win our last 15 or so games on the trot to make the play-offs was incredible. The fixture backlog that's building up for us won't help us and our squad isn't all that strong, look at the Brentford game we had 7 subs but the manager didn't see fit to use any of them until the 80th minute even though we were 2-0 down and had little left to lose.
  18. to most of our fans all games are equal. Obviously they aren't .Now if Huddersfield goes ahead today and they win, they'll just need to come here for a draw on tuesday and they'll have a 4 point Xmas which will suit them.As they know how to defend and we're not so hot on breaking down that sort of side they'll probably get the point they'd be aiming for.As it now stands we have 28 games in 130 days,of these 15 are away games and at least 4 are now midweek.I've seen plenty of sides in with championship and promotion prospects simply implode under the weight of fixture backlogs.
  19. Charlton's MD is now saying he thought the game was playable.See he says we could have put a sheet on it and used the blower under it, why didn't they do that before then, like 9 o clock this morning just as I said they should.sounds like a right balls up all round, especially as the ref who looked on Friday wasn't today's ref.
  20. would probably dislocate something whilst carrying his signing on cheque long before he actually put on his boots.
  21. Charlton must have known there was an icy band under the covers though.I mean it's the sort of thing groundsmen know isn't it.Surely a bit of hot air blown under the covers at that part of the pitch this morning would have done the trick. I'm sure Saints have resorted to that tactic in the past to keep games on.Charlton probably didn't fancy it,no matter what they bleat in public.
  22. just another reason as to why we desperately need to move back up the leagues, not many games in the NPC called off so far. Our league: 1 game(maybe none at all) on for about the 3rd week running. Those with points already on the board will be advantaged during the ensuing fixture chaos.
  23. but the groundsmen have to work on 1 specific area of the ground.Don't know in what way though. Hot air blowers perhaps.
  24. Frost under the covers, looking decidedly dodgy.
  25. Probably, another lost game day. Still if it's off I won't lose my ticket money.Couldn't travel, snowed in,no flights anyway.
