  1. At a guess I'd say that it's because we have an unenviable record in letting young players go without really giving them a chance to show what they can do in the first team and then they turn up elsewhere in higher divisions playing good football. It could well be the right decision but Nile Ranger and Mike Williamson (true Ranger was a bit of a problem case apparently) haven't really suffered from being let go by us, we've probably come out on the minus side of the ledger in those 2 cases, I'm sure there are many others though both pro and con.
  2. "The coaching staff rate him more highly than Theo Walcott at the same age" Is that the same coaching staff or different coaching staff then... Just asking. Anyway sounds like agent talk to me, yes I know that his dad is his agent.
  3. doesn't sound very much less likely than 2/3rds of CCC managers applying for the Saint's managers job really.
  4. Plus all CCC chairmen now know that last September there is a 66% chance that their manager was sniffing around after another job.
  5. All that's as maybe. Perhaps he should have remained silent or evasive about this or just said "a few" or something like that.If we shouldn't make promotion this season, this fact (if averred) might come back to haunt him. 17 out of 24 CCC managers, supposedly current must include some really good candidates, like Strachan (if it was current then) or Mowbray (if it's current now).
  6. As I have said before I certainly do not rate Adkins as the best candidate that we might have had.I have said before that I think the whole affair was botched and that we should have set someone up before sacking Pardew on the spur of the moment.
  7. But he wasn't a "current championship manager" at that time, neither was Sven as far as can recall.I'd certainly have a stab at Jackett or Lambert before I appointed Adkins that's for sure.Or the bloke at Doncaster or Leeds or Warnock.I just cannot believe that those men all applied for a job they didn't want and that none of them was judged suitable for further interest. So to me the number is just a figment of someone's imagination.
  8. Still you'd agree that if Paul Lambert applied we might have just called him in for a chat???
  9. But if all those really applied and we turned them down ..........well I really don't know what to say, especially if we turned down Lambert or Kenny Jackett or even Roy Keane..
  10. It sounds like utter crap, more like 17 video game championship managers.Did NC really really say that, Spudgun?
  11. but there's a catch, they have to take Crouch or Keane or both in part exchange plus a couple of bob. Must be right if it's in the Sun. Anyway Newcastle have shedloads of money don't they:rolleyes:
  12. I bet they do,new manager with no transfer window spending syndrome is virtually unknown in the higher leagues. Don't think any of it will be coming our way though.
  13. in fact I think that would put Exeter above us wouldn't it?? True with a game more played but their recent form isn't too dusty. Shows our level I think....ie about the same as everyone else's.
  14. I must be over exigent then, I expected whoever manages our club to get at least as many points as AP's side did once he got it on the rails last season. 74 points from 36 games from BR home onwards. 2 points a game is the bare minimum for me because it is basically the same side.
  15. I might know the wearer of one of them, I know someone who was there, I know they possess a Saints shirt. Might be coincidence though.
  16. Adam and Oxo are part of the midfield surely? If we've to rely on them as our principal source of goals that would mean that the MF is weakened wouldn't it. I keep reading posts on this forum saying the midfield is "failing". That would be because our 2 are getting overrun by the oppositions 4 or 5.Lallana and Oxo are supposed to have a midfield role but they're our principal goalscorers. If the other 2 have to go marauding forward all of the time because we can't score with our front 4 then it's no surprise that we can't control the midfield. I keep on saying this, the uselessness of Lambert and the lack of game time from Barnard are our only problem, it needs to be addressed, it needed to be addressed in the loanr window.Until it is we will struggle against aggressive sides because half of our midfield is our attack if you see what I mean.
  17. Global Warming don'tcha know.We obviously need to bump up Carbon Emissions again, since the "civilised world" started cutting back the winters have been getting worse and worse and starting earlier.
  18. And you think £25 to watch Charlton-Saints is cheap..... Lend me a tenner then:rolleyes:
  19. Ameobi is getting on a bit, injured as well, other than Carroll who else do they have? Ranger is very very young as yet, probably want to ease him along. I could well see AP bidding for RL at a knock down price, let him pull out wide right as he likes to and let Carroll feed off of him, he was his star player last season, always said he could go all the way with us,probably the only player he was consistently saying it about.Don't say it will happen but I could see it. Fonté is a good central defender, especially when you have the 37 yr old Sol Campbell as a starter at the moment. Plus Pardew will know exactly what the sell on, get out clauses are (if any) and will only have to bid strict minimum..
  20. Story has now made it into the Mirror as well...........
  21. just 3 or 4 for the moment, I noticed that most games are still on the in Championship though, clubs obviously have the wherewithal to face up to the situation in that League.God I hate being in the 3rd division, it really is purgatory.
  22. i think many fans would do well to revisit some of the videos available on Saint's Player from last season, look and see how potent we were in attack, how fast we moved from midfield, how well we defended, where RL was most of the time, the impact Antonio made and then say "why is it no longer like that"
  23. I don't, we're too far back and have too many away games stacked up, second maybe but Brighton or Sheffield Wednesday will win the League.
  24. thus making football available to the masses again??? Old stuff I know but when you could stand at the Dell we used to get 30K+ in at affordable prices. Make it all seat and the capacity is halved so the price had to go up.I never felt any sort of sense of danger or even inconvenience whilst standing in the Milton.
  25. : How do you know he was rich??? Failed to pass through the eye of a camel did he??:x Just asking
