Who knows. With the new TV money, the day we hand out 100K pw contracts is closer than people think. Bournemouth, Palace and Leicester have already breached that threshold. Gabbi is already on 80K pw -and it’s not difficult to justify paying Walcott more given his track record in the league and our immediate needs. It’s very possible that we didn’t match Everton’s offer; but it’s not totally far-fetched either.

Can you name a relegated club that has suffered as sudden and striking collapse in the history of the premier league? I certainly can’t. That’s what we’re potentially dealing with. No wonder people are angry and in shock. Nowt to do with your good old days, Lord Duckhunter inspired b*****ks.
-
Do you know how much we offered him then?

Les Reed, the John Peel of DoFs, acutely self-conscious of his image and reputation for innovation. But sometimes it’s OK to like a bit of Boyzone, as you would no doubt agree.

A bit rich to talk about apathy, wouldn’t you say pal?
-
Despite the football experts on here writing Walcott off, he does appear to have been our number one target, so it would seem that we've failed on our own terms.
-
As Les might say, supply and demand, pal, supply and demand.

Do you still think Leicester City copied the Southampton Way, as you claimed in their historic title-winning season? Is that why you fired Puel?
-
For future reference, remind me what additional work and extensions he got for that £25m? It's not simply that he overspent (i.e. pure waste which of course happened); its also that we got something of value back in return.
-
Possibly, though they say he’s not particularly good away from home, especially against the bigger sides. While he’s excellent in the air, he won’t drop deep and hold up the ball as Heskey did but tends to stay up field and come alive in the box in the same way that Giroud does (indeed he’s called a poor man’s Giroud on there).

“I’ve never seen a player who’s as good with his head as he’s bad with his feet” From the Monaco momgboard. Bit of a marmite player, especially this season but on balance, they've valued his service and feel he would do well with a fresh start. Won’t pull up any trees and not particularly quick or mobile (which makes it doubly important to add some pace) but is committed, is positionally clever and excellent in the air.

Contain your excitement, we’re signing the new Ulloa.

What happened to Gabbi in the last couple of months under Puel? Aot of the criticisms that apply now also applied then. His form also dipped and/or we stopped playing to his strengths -one which, truth be told, are pretty specialised.
-
Not sure about 1. We brought in Lemina and Hoedt and have had Gabbi available for the whole season. We started the season with VVD. He's now been sold but that's not altogether different from last season given VVD missed the second half of the season. The only loss this season is Jrod whose influence is pretty limited. Why do you think this season's side is weaker?

Hojbjerg. How many games has he started? Desperation stuff.

What’s Falque upto?

“We have a consistent 1,000 players on our database churning over that we are monitoring 365 days a year, so it’s not like we come to a window and go ‘right, who’s around?’” (that one’s for real).

From the Gospel of Les
-
Les: “I’ve always been an admirer of Guido - he’s a good footballer and likes to play our way. We wanted four good-quality strikers to create competition. If you're going to play at the top of the Premier League, that's the kind of squad you need and therefore I’m really glad to have been able to add a player of Guido’s quality to the team“.

Well done for arguing with yourself and answering a question nobody's asked.
