Let's see. Depth means little if the first team isn't as strong. We'll see enough how far the new recruits can fill in what are some pretty large holes, areas that have defined our footballing identity.

The standard of football was **** in those days. No offense meant.

Dare I say it, I have a spare for Arnhem in the away end. Ideally I'd give it to someone who's done plenty of aways (though it's near impossible to verify) rather than on a first-come-first-serve basis; but PM me if you're interested. I'll keep the offer open for 24hrs and will inform the lucky recipient. Face value.

Not contesting specifics; just a general point of how the punter perceives cost. Clearly, there's a difference between people no longer qualifying for concessions on the one hand and (tightening) the qualifying criteria for them on the other. One involves a redistribution of benefits among the fan base; the other a straightforward transfer back to the club.
-
You have to be a complete moron if you think concessions aren't relevant to the discussion of prices - ultimately it's the total cost that matters to the punter, how much more he has to pay out of his pocket relative to previous years. Concessions, fees, ticket prices are all relevant, however you slice and dice the individual components.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

"his little face" isn't patronising at all, is it. I've posted that pic before for which I was warned. You lapped it then (briefly making it your avatar) and you're lapping it up now. Everyone knows the connotations it carries... How's corporate working out, btw -
I stopped after the first line.

Pal, you're the master of sidestepping rebuttals and answering the question only you has asked. Alpine isn't a patch on you. The absolute master. -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

They pay higher wages but not significantly so. Their highest earner is Baines (70k pw); Lukaku is on 60k pw (Long, king of all things moneyball, is on 50k pw). Their first team squad averages £31,447 pw, compared to £27,081 pw for us. We could more than match any offer if we really wanted the player. -
Great game, though. Pandemonium at the end.

Is it deluded to think that VVD would automatically choose Everton over us? In the big club stakes, they're quite a notch down from Spurs and they're known for being tight regards player wages. -
If all the EL games go to form, then it would still require 2 'upsets' from the 7 CL games to knock us out of the seeded places. That's a pretty strong assumption - I would be very surprised if there weren't, at least, a couple of upsets in the EL games (there are 15 EL ties, after all). Any upsets in the EL would gives us more leeway and margin for error from the CL ties. Looking at the decisive CL games, i can't see too many games going against form either -and ultimately there are fewer CL games. Even Celtic should win FFS.

In a word, spillovers. The bread and butter of all policy justifications in this country. The benefits of childcare/nursery education not only benefit any given family but the wider community and economy. For example, children who attend an early education program may be better prepared for primary school. This may affect the speed of classroom learning and improve teachers motivation, so that the rest of the class benefits. If you're a parent deciding whether and how much to invest in childcare/nursery education, you are unlikely to factor in these other benefits, creating a wedge between what's good for you individually and what's socially optimal. Government intervention makes good that difference. This is not a matter of left or right but but sound, pragmatic policy. HTH

Exactly, so much for clowns and cheerleaders like MLG telling us the exact opposite. Another holding CM would be huge.

Not with us but Palace. -
I predicted the opposite - shows f**k all I know. Thought the election defeat, the worst since 1992, would convince activists that even Ed Miliband's soft left position had few takers in the country at large. Maybe that position didn't go far enough to the left to ram the point home; maybe the sheer scale of the defeat has freed activists to indulge their prejudices, because they know Labour doesn't stand a chance of winning the next election, even if everyone gets behind a disciplined, electable policy agenda. What seems clear is that Blair, Mandelson and even David M's election postmortem, before the body was even cold, was a massive boon to the likes of Corbyn.

Zouma has been linked with a loan and CDAJFU. Don't know if we could offer him regular football though, especially as Toby's replacement will be half-decent. -
David M. might have been more electable to the electorate at largel but he would have increased the alienation activists felt in the fag end years of the Blair and Brown administrations. Miliband's politics wouldn't have pushed Labour towards the European social democratic model; but would have been cut the distance with the lib dems, especially the Orange Book wing of the party. A big believer in pluralism and choice -the public sphere as a vehicle for change rather than the state- his ideas woukd have been too abstract and esoteric for Labour supporters to believe that this was anything but marketisation by the back door. Never mind he's as Londoncentric as they come.

Much too early to say that.

Am watching a slightly different game. We've worked some very good positions when going direct or countering; but aren't really working much through possession, especially through the centre of midfield.
