There was some paper done by economists showing that clubs overpay for home-grown players relative to their value -as measured by individual and team achievements. I'm not for buying unknown yanks just as I'm not for buying unknown japs but the real value is overseas.
-
A transfer that has provided value for a current side - and preferably a recent transfer.
-
It was more 'in general' than 'every single one' or 'all'. Off the top of your head, who's the best value, home-grown player?
-
Did I say that? Have a biscuit.
-
Still would give the England team a run for its money. Home-grown premiership players are overpriced garbage.
-
Coz the first clip mlg put up was outright sick. He then changed it with the russell howard clip to make it OK, all 'ironic' and 'weird'. Frankly anyone who puts russell howard clips up also wants a word with themselves.
-
No they were sh*te but the talk at the time was that they were looking good and had turned a corner.
-
Admittedly it was early days but Villa were in decent form when we played them.
-
Liverpool didn't really test him- quite a few saves you would have expected him to take cleanly or parry strongly but which he let squirt out -the kind of stuff kelvin was doing this time last season and getting punished for.
-
A few more to keep the old dears spirits up: At death's door - number 4 Valium fix - number 6 Harold Shipman killing machine - number 15

Its disgusting that the mods largesse and opulence is being funded by your hard work. Instead of bearing the entire mongboard on your shoulders, perhaps you should start monetising your news/info, providing subscription services for exclusive content, naming sources etc? Call it TurkishTalk -similar to TeamTalk but unlike the bullsh*t and rumour of TeamTalk, you offer unadulterated, 100% Turkish fact.

Feel safer with Kelvin in the goal that's for sure. And am sure the CBs do. Lost count of the number of times Fonte/Yoshida have had to slash the ball clear when Gazza should have come to collect. There's little or no communication, one thing you can't fault Kelvin for.

Glad you filed this in the comedy keeper thread.

We were very narrow and congested in the second half -and only Clyne threatened to get behind them but there's only so much he could do. Think some pace further up the pitch would have made a difference in the same way it did against Spurs, freeing up those in the middle. But Mayuka seems to be way down the pecking - would have been the obvious candidate to come on for Punch but instead it was Rodriguez.

Depends on the definition of state school which has changed over time, making historical comparisons difficult. But yes the numbers have been going up but not as quickly as admissions and they're still eye-poppingly small relative to the total state school population. And that sector itself is diverse: are those being accepted really from the most deprived schools or communities or just middle-class bastions? All for treating symptoms, not causes. But colleges can definitely do more. The current combined spend of the university and colleges on outreach is £1.85 million, not a huge amount. My mate's place is one of the more liberal, accessible colleges in Oxford -yet they're still debating whether they have the money to employ a full-time, professional, decently remunerated Outreach Officer.
