  1. And campeones.
  2. I had my eye on a lovely little sony trinitron, scart/pal interface for the games console, the works...
  3. You can imagine the horror when I discovered it was a display model and the remote control was scracched. Years on and a 14 inch matsui tv probably remains the most expensive gift I've ever got. If you're going to buy a present for SOMEONE ELSE, do it properly, especially with technology.
  4. At 12 yrs old, they're probably pretty sophisticated and know what's top of the range etc. In other words, don't go cheap and utilitarian on the naive assumption that its the gesture that matters. Got bought a matsui tv as a chrimbo present when I was a nipper (though older than 12) - ashamed to admit that it still rankles.
  5. Not what lordswood seems to be saying?
  6. Hypo banned but not gone - keep an eye on the little green on-sign. -There is a light that never goes out.
  7. Another away win would be massive. Fulham isn't outside the realms of possibility.
  8. It was deserved but Bryan Gunn didn't make the most of his resources in the NPC - remember going there on a Feb evening and watching us get a very lucky 2-2 draw - McLaggon got a goal! They had enough to stay up; we didn't. Likewise, after relegation, they kept their squad together and didn't suffer a 10 point penalty - effects of which can't be underestimated. The gap between the teams was pretty clear when they came to our place and Hoolihan made us look silly (albeit the game ended in a draw thanks to DC's wonder strike). Certainly we strengthened in the 2010 winter window, bringing in Punch, Fonte and Barnard -remember going to their place when they were firing on all cylinders and beating them 2-0; but those signings arrived too late into the season to make up all the ground we had lost early on at places like Stockport and Swindon. I think the difference between the clubs has now eroded -if anything we entered the prem in better nick than them (they bought the solid but unspectacular Morrison, we spunked a load on Rodriguez on whom the jury will be out for quite a while). If they can stay up, we should too. That said, Norwich might just be an outlier - there are plenty of newly promoted clubs that have spent big yet have crashed and burned. Surely when comparing success and what it looks like, the experience of all those clubs is just as relevant as history's winners (for now) like Norwich.
  9. I'd give it to the summer and do it when the timing suits us. Seriously tho everyone has their price and the club is bigger than any one individual. I've seen enough from Lambo that it's far-fetched to think he has 3 or 4 years at the highest level left in the tank. I wouldn't be surprised if he fades as the season goes on and gets rotated more and more, especially away from home. Maybe he has another season in him. Ultimately sentiment always clouds these discussions. We're not made of money and £8m would set us up very nicely - its not like his value is going to depreciate gradually.
  10. If they offered £8m, I'd bite their hand off. I might even consider less.
  11. In the club's defense, the usual time to announce these things is during Adkins pre-match press conference - and we haven't had one this week. Cork and Ramirez's injuries were disclosed in this way -and I'm sure there would have been news on AL had we played Sunderland. Whether the club should make a separate or special announcement on the OS is a different question; but IMO the pre-match press conference is a perfectly appropriate, if not the best place to communicate this kind of news. No doubt there'll be info next Thurs/Fri.
  12. Am a firm believer in tipping generously only if its deserved.
  13. True about our away games also being our toughest fixtures. Not sure about Villa being more experienced. The commentators repeatedly pointed out the youthfulness of the villa side - the average age was something like 23. For instance, it was both Benteke and Weimann's first visits to Anfield. You are right, though, that experience matters -and its something we miss and have not prioritised enough. Hopefully, we address it in Jan.
  14. More importantly, would we fill the stadium?
  15. How many points have we got away from home? The liverpool performance was not a one-off but is symptomatic of our inability to get it right on the road. What works at home e.g. playing Lambert upfront hasn't really worked away.
  16. I watched some of it- villa defended deeply and got quite a few last ditch tackles in but they counter attacked with much more purpose and poise than we did. We looked clueless and overawed whenever we had the ball, notwithstanding a small improvement in the second half.
  17. Agree with Turks on this one. Fine everyone has on and off days; but we went to Anfield with a defeatist mindset; Villa played without fear -that's as, if not more impressive than the result. For all our good run, we haven't really shown we can go away from home and hold our own (QPR isnt proof of anything). Building on their good result in the cup, Villa are.
  18. Absolutely- ice runs through his veins.
  19. Got the all-important second goal at Plymouth as well -showed he could keep his head when others might have lost theirs. Exactly what you want for a relegation dogfight.
  20. To the byline and everything- f**king peach of a cross.
  21. The way Dicko filled in for Lallana at Leyon Orient in our promotion season- just immense.
  22. The JWP experiment has finished. Reckon it will be Jrod>Guly>Davis in that order.
  23. Not really - Punch's golden chance against QPR comes to mind. Neither Lallana or Punch really play to Lambert's strengths in the air as both like to drive to the penalty area before fizzing balls in. By contrast, Fox has the accuracy and ability to flight balls in from deeper positions.
  24. He missed some very good chances against Fulham, Spurs and West Brom.
