  1. whoever's the less crocked.
  2. Think he's only referring to the one signing i.e. a striker, though sounds like its common knowledge.
  3. From the Bristol City Forum: Just messaged 'FootballAgent46' asking about situation and got following; @StephenCoombes They want another striker, easy to say, Maynard isnt top of the list because of injuries but of course he is on it.
  4. Yep- basically saying that the NC's hopes for prem football next season is what swung it, that the sale of Oxo will let us get in 2-3 players etc
  5. Supposedly it was all over the Foxes Talk forum -somebody quoting £6m, £20-25K pw (christ knows how they know). Thread then mysteriously vanished.
  6. Agree- if anything RB seems a weaker position than LB.
  7. Got the same impression - burnley fans said that he didn't have the pace to hack in the premiership (might have coincided with him settling at the club), though he had a much better season in the NPC. They also said that he's better going forward than defending which, if he is going to be used as LB, is a slight concern. But I completely trust Nige.
  8. IMO Lallana is equally good on the right.
  9. Has also played left midfield, so no reason why he can beef us up there as well.
  10. He's an alternative to all of them - he has pace that the others dont (though Connolly's quick in terms of pinching that first yard/reading the game). I assume that's why we might be interested in him (along with being proven in NPC). No reason, EB couldn't be used as a targetman. He's strong and can hold the ball up, though he's tended to worked better when playing with a big man i.e. Iwelumo who can win flicks for him to chase.
  11. Chaplow did go on the right 2nd half against Leeds - helped FR double up on gradel.
  12. TBF, Liverpool have also been linked with him.
  13. I'd be more worried about his injury proneness.
  14. Stop being such a pedantic nob - people mean any number of formations when they put up a 4-4-2. Surprise, surprise, its more convenient to put it up that way. Most people are more interested in personnel e.g. whether you include Chaplow or not. Most people know that if Chaplow is included in midfield, it will be in a narrower formation, that he won't be skinning people down the wing (nobody gives a toss about depicting graphically a 4-4-2 diamond as opposed to a traditional 4-4-2, however you do that). btw you going up?
  15. Maybe I'm being thick but the article says very little other than that Thatcher was inevitable given where the system was heading, that if was not her and some other mug would have done the same thing. A view of history and politics in which individuals count for very little because choices are more or less inherited and predetermined. Article seems more like a barmy rant against capitalism and 'the system' if anything. Of course, if you buy the article's premise - it blows up alot of sacred cows. The left cant claim her as a bogeyman; but nor can the right champion her as a saviour. Simples.

  17. Thought VFTT put this rumour to bed a while back -or at least pointed out why its pretty implausible.
  18. Way out of his depth
  19. Don't know what you're trying to say - could say the same thing about the influx of hardworking filipino nurses who prop up the NHS or before that Indians or Chinese...Are you making an immigration point (and the last time I looked, most of the news is about whites feeling undercut by 'harder working' immigrants)? Or is it a race point?
  20. Good article by Kevin Sampson "Liverpool riots: I remember the buzz of mob mayhem from 1981" http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/aug/10/liverpool-riots-mob-mayhem
  21. Torquay's goal- shocking defending. Seen rioters given less time and space. Got to get a CB in asap. Even Dickson didn't look too clever.
  22. In London, yes, a disproportionate number of those who kicked off were black; a lot of gang culture is black - guess it depends whether you believe its a cultural thing -something hardwired into them independently of where they live -or the product of socioeconomic conditions combined with, yes, racism. I reckon most reasonable people think the latter. Race relations have improved but its not a bed of roses - and, at any rate, perceptions and suspicions take longer to die off. On a larger note, some will always look to exploit their alleged victim status and excuse themselves off responsibility by acting the bad man when, in fact, they've got little to complain about. Arguably that's a wider societal problem, to do with a culture which seems to sanctify the victim; but there are many others who deal with petty stereotyping, humiliations and obstructions everyday -ones that most of us will never understand, suck it in, get on and try to make the best of their lives - the silent heroes in my book. But to think that racism has got nothing to do with things -that's its their issue rather than it taking two to tango- is the most flagrant case of burying one's head in the sand.
  23. Surprise, surprise that in more diverse areas, the crowds tend to be more diverse.
  24. Fair enough, though if you're living in the south or east of London, you'd probably want to live outside Zone 2 -large parts of which are bandit country once you consider everything else going on inc public services. Lived a while around Southwark/Surrey Quays - and wouldn't swap it anyday for my current place, even though its further out.
  25. Subsidised city centres -thinking anywhere in particular? Can name you more f**king dumps.
