  1. Let’s hope it’s not a fee based on first team appearances! 🤣
  2. That’s an interesting point. How many of these players will feature in a Prem team after being an integral part of the worst side in Prem history? I mean, it’s pretty bleak isn’t it? Effort without skill will not be enough to get them a Prem contract if the buying club does it’s proper due diligence and is not desperate. KWP and Rambo…the only two players who have shown their true Prem credentials. Maybe Fernandes and Dibling might get their moves but they’ll likely be bench warmers or “ones for the future”. I’ll be flabbergasted if any of the others return to the Prem. Oh the score? Not sure I care - it’s very likely to be a drubbing, so let’s be optimistic and say 0-2.
  3. It also raises the question about the nature of his parting of the ways with the club. Spors dug around and found a skeleton in the closet accompanied by a home shirt with the name Stewart on the back. 😉🤭
  4. The price of relegation.
  5. We will lose - reckon 3-0. No respite.
  6. Someone had to be the fall guy I suppose, plus there’s a need to cut cloth. I don’t have any faith that SR/Spors will make an improvement.
  7. £100m?! Take it and run! I’ve seen little to suggest the lad is worth half that. Of course he might develop further and improve in 2-3 years, but that’s less likely to happen at Saints, so it’s a big risk to hold on to him. I’ll be blown away if we get anywhere near that fee though.
  8. Hopefully we’ll not have to find out because we’ll have an almost new 1st team and a decent Manager!
  9. Yep, with Jay R scoring against his old club…what a story for the film-makers eh? 😕
  10. Tell you what - this current team wouldn’t / couldn’t deliver a 4-0 win in the Championship if their lives depended on it. It wouldn’t surprise me if the first game of the season ended in a nervy loss. Let’s re-convene and compare notes after the first game shall we?
  11. The issue is not that there are Championship level players, it’s that the construct of the team is flawed and many players will have developed a losing mentality that they cannot shake. The next Manager and his coaching team have a significant re-build to accomplish. There’s a reason Manning came on a free. He’s wedded to a certain style of system - one that allows him to be lazy in his decision making. He’s a very limited player.

Funny, I was thinking a couple of days ago about how the team that ‘arry and Jim managed actually looked liked warriors compared to the group of pussies we’ve been enduring for 3-4 seasons now.
  13. It’s OK…I’ve forgotten now.🤣
  14. Yeah, nothing on this thread about Utd’s ambition’s. 🤣😏
  15. My bad, I forgot about the new stadium expansion in the last year or so. 🙄😉 Oh sorry, you mean the safe standing, the movement of away fans and the addition of extra pre-match entertainment areas (to compensate for the sub-standard match entertainment? OK, I guess that’s something, but obviously not enough to make a some on here swoon over Utd’s plans.
  16. Although it’s pretty sad that a thread supposedly about SMS development gets taken over by news of Man Utd’s ambitious plans. Thanks to SR’s stunning failure at Saints it’ll be a long time before any further investment in SMS will happen - maybe never if we carry on the current trajectory.
  17. Let’s hope it’s fanciful. Whatever the question, Ings is not the answer. Sure he’d score a hatful in the Championship, but only if he’s playing which would not be guaranteed. Plus I don’t think he’d come back anyway.
  18. As a City, there’s so much to like in contrast to the shithole down the road. The football has been shite…SR incompetent. But if you love football then inevitably you pin your colours to one mast and ours is Saints…the red & white. Despite each successive failure, I start watching each next game with hope that something will go right. And I know that one day it will.

I just think he’s just flailing about trying random stuff just to be seen to trying new things. Some of his post match comments are so bereft of sense that it’s clear he’s not invested in the job - a caretaker who couldn’t care less.

    Ivan Juric

I can’t disagree with the sentiment, but there was next to nothing from the preceding Prem games to indicate the team had any semblance of improving beyond what Martin had achieved (or not as the case was). We may have hoped Juric was the answer, but the short contract with get out clause given to him tells me he was a temporary fix, with the club hedging their bets and expecting him to fail. The positive is that he’ll not be involved in re-build process thankfully, although I’m not confident another balls-up is on the cards while SR are pulling Spors strings.

What do you mean? Do you actually think there was any resemblance of a team able to make a last ditch charge for safety when he took over? This team was relegated (if not mathematically) by the time he took over such was the abject failure - of course he was going to be the fall guy unless by some incredible miracle nearly everything we had seen to date was some bad dream and all of a sudden the players looked competent in even the basics of being a Prem outfit. It was better against Liverpool sure, but the damage was irreversible by then. Juric knew this 2 games in I would wager.

I suspect Juric will be utilised between now and seasons end to suck up all the fallout - taking the blame for 9 points, sacking off unwanted players etc. He was always going to be the fall guy given what he’s had to work with.
  23. Very few ST holders that are also true Saints supporters (as opposed to ‘tourists’) will give up their seat. Living in cloud cuckoo land to think otherwise. There will be a drop off in sold seats - there always is typically, but not to a huge extent, particularly if results improve.
  24. Continual use of certain players - probably to ensure they’re in the shop window? Stubborn use of a back five even when it’s clear it’s not working. I could go on but I can’t be arsed to be honest.
  25. When I think about Manning and a significant number of other players featuring in the first team, I don’t think about ‘commitment’ - that should be a fucking given with the amount of money they’re being paid for the privilege of playing in the best league in the World for one of the founding clubs in the English game! What I do think about is ability to deliver a performance fitting of a top level pro footballer and the resilience and fitness to compete at the top level of pro football. The dichotomy with all this is that individual players are not to blame for being effectively promoted into jobs they are not competent or fit enough to compete in. There are just too many in this squad that fall into that category unfortunately. Then you have players of KWP’s standing and given the excellent service he’s given to the club, it’s not surprising he’s probably feeling somewhat despondent being an integral part of the worst team in Premier league history, when he’s largely been nothing short of a dedicated consummate professional to date.
