Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Yeovil - (FA Cup 4th Round)
Monk replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Anyone else see Chris Coleman outside the ground with a woman that did not look like Charlotte Jackson? Looked more bronze than David Dickinson and is an absolute giant. Looked more set for the red carpet than an FA Cup game. -
Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Yeovil - (FA Cup 4th Round)
Monk replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Just back from the game: Fair Play to Yeovil fans, good bunch, made a bit of noise and decent numbers. Little disappointed with our fans, sat in itchen/chapel corner and had our 'yoof' constantly gobbing off and slatting others for not singing. Katrina was in attendance and Lambert, Turnball and Wanyama sat in box and celebrated a lot when Gallagher scored. Fonte received a warm response whilst warming up. Phil Dowd wasn't consistent enough and actually put the whistle to his mouth when JWP went down in the second half only not to award another penalty. Davis 6- Good game, did what was needed except the odd heart in mouth moment when playing out from back. Clyne 7- very attacking, looked to take players on and defended well. Maya 6- won a few in the air against Miller and played 90% of his passes across the back line. Hooiveld 6- was solid for majority of the game, slight mix up with Maya/Kelvin in first half and out of position for one Yeovil through ball. Shaw 7 - Almost lethargic in his approach, numerous opportunities to bomb forward without the ball yet chose to stay square. Did make three/four penetrating runs with the ball. Cork 8 - Class Schneiderlin 7- quiet but as ever reliable, went about his business. JWP 7 - always busy, looked to get on the ball all the time. Guly 100 - Move over Ronaldo Rodriguez 6 - Is not a lone striker, got himself in a few central goal scoring positions but still under hits and goes for placement instead of striking cleanly. Lallana - 7.5 driving force behind any of our attacks, gradually fizzled out. Much more direct with his dribbling which was good to see. Subs: Gallagher - so pleased to see him get his goal. Much better at playing the line this time, gradually coming off his marker and a fantastic turn in the box to nearly score a second. Davis - Mr Safe, does a job and had an attempt on goal which either side of the keeper would of been a goal. Reed - looked comfortable even though he was playing out wide, awesome ball in for Davis. Funny five minute spell with the weather at which some matey's hat blew on to the pitch and Phil Dowd ran around holding for ten minutes. -
Appreciate any help from you lovely bunch. Looking at taking the girlfriend to Barcelona for a short break in May (looking to get to the Barca vs Atheltico game for the 16th) can anybody recommend a good hotel? 4* preferably. Only looking at 3/4 nights.

Steve Lansdown accuses Southampton of "cheating" over Bath Academy
Monk replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
I don't think some of you really comprehend how highly regarded Saints academy is nationally. I've enjoyed two fantastic conversations with Matt Crocker since he joined the FA. As for the Bath Centre, its absolutely no different to what Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal currently do with the exception of it being managed correctly and not money orientated. -
Alfie, 8, from 'All Saints Road'

The lad that went with him to the Southampton crane, was in my form group at school. Very talented free runner and complete nutter but has his boundaries.

Let's hope it is 'smoke screen & mirrors' and not wishful thinking. We can speculate all we like, MLG can dig up every stat and news article relevant. Until we hear something from the club or Nicola, it's going to get uncomfortable. Not particularly fussed about Pochettino.

A horrific stay if true; It has been 13 months since an Englishman scored in the Premier League for Newcastle United.

My birthday too.

Our central play in the final third isn't aggressive enough at the moment. Our ball retention is great but doesn't appear to have a catalyst (except Lallana) when attacking. I would like to see us to use possession earlier and be more 'clinical' (at least attempt) in the final third. I counted three occasions where Steven Davis was central to the goal around 20-18 yards out and unopposed but unfortunately each occasion he was on his left foot (crying out for Ramirez but at least he got in to that position). Lambert looked knackered after 75 minutes. Ramirez looked like the number '10' I think we've been missing. Boruc, just . Good three points.

Apologies misread message; We have two targets but will only move for one out of the two.
-
None for now. Inter sniffing around Gaston too.
-
We have two confirmed targets. Approved by transfer committee, no news if we have moved for them yet. Lallana, Shaw & Rodriguez are going nowhere.. For now.

"e kickers da ball funnaily so he can whipa the ball"
-
You're wrong, his technique is just unorthodox.
-
I'm sure there's a few bar staff at club 8 that would be happy to hear this. No 'obvious' fracture thankfully.
-
He's getting better. Still a bit naive when reacting from a defensive position, especially an over load. Just needs to 'recover' before he challenges for the ball. Really pleased for him. Very humble too.

Never sack your manager unless there's a better manager available & willing to come. Controversial and I don't like the bloke but I think Steve Mclaren would if been an interesting appointment. As for RDM, public knowledge his success at Chelsea was down to his 'clever' man management of the senior players. Common knowledge that Terry, Lamps and Drogba heavily influenced RDM. Not sure if I see that as RDM being clever or anticipating he would have no authority if he led with his usual approach. Still think WBA have been hasty.

His grasp of the language is fine. His manor is typically South American (feisty, passionate and numerous). Very touchy feely on the training ground (arm around the shoulders, pay on back, ruffle of hair). His communication physically and verbally is first class, has a habit of ranting to himself at times.

May be of some interest regarding Jullio. A third party approached Les Reed originally stating Julio is available. Not sure if the club responded.

I always thought Saint Stevo became Turkish.

Horrific idea. Platini & Blatter need shooting.

Seeing a number of tweets & photos showing an apparent Ajax fan fallen from the stands into a 12m drop. Unconfirmed reports the chap passed away.
