  1. I had Nick Halling sat next to me last time I was there. Had no idea who he was until afterwards but he was a good laugh and his driver was priceless. Oh and the curry was excellent, thank you Rupert!
  2. I don't believe he was ever married to Ulrika. And anyway, doesn't she annoy you??
  3. Three weeks ago we couldn't bat away a fly and all our bowling was buffet. Now look. And as far as I know, no managerial changes, just a bit of tinkering with the middle order. And I bet a bloody good team talk. So come on Pards, here's the example. Let's get cracking. Starting tomorrow. Saints to win by three!!
  4. Tbh, with Solent anything is possible!!!!!
  5. Pompey lost 2-0 to Villa a week ago and 0-1 to Everton this Saturday (kick off 12:30) does that help?
  6. Correct. I believe that Alex Ferguson takes this approach to all matches and it doesn't seem to be hurting their results very much...
  7. This is a must win game for me. If we are remotely serious about growth, development and promotion (next year, this year, ever!) we have to start winning games regularly to know how to win games regularly...
  8. Top draw post. You really should stop taking personally questions about your commitment and ability to comment from the U-boat...
  9. I'm afraid you are wrong. I can drive - and have been driven in a Brabus - at 200mph in Germany. Why is it any more dangerous to drive at 100mph here than there?? It isn't. Today's cars, well mine, is well capable of driving well in excess of 100mph and indeed has been tested and designed to do so. It is equipped with ESP, ABS, and a multitude of safety features. At times of the day when conditions allow driving at 150mph is no more dangerous than at 30mph. Conversely, driving at 30mph past a school with a stationary school bus within the law would be the more dangerous than driving at 79mph on a motorway and yet totally legal. And that is the problem with this country. I cannot drive at 100mph on a clear well lit motorway at night, but a 17 yr old can enter a car and drive it at 70mph in the rain, or fog, never having once experienced those conditions nor having ever driven on a motorway. And yet I would be breaking the law and deemed more dangerous. Totally laughable. You epitomise the nanny state that is corrupting the true understanding of safety and responsibility in this country I'm afraid.
  10. That's a very interesting comparison. For a while Cole was the answer to England's left-sided problem and has proven that you do not have to be a 'wide' player to be effective in a wide position. I've rarely seen Cole run to the by-line and cross the ball say, but he does create and score goals. Perhaps this is whom Lallana should be modelling himself on?
  11. Matt Le Tissier, discplined?? only in a dungeon would be my assessment...
  12. They're not allowed to tell the truth are they... Personally, I look out for a very high-sided vehicle and slip in alongside. Of course, this is fraught with problems if you can't find one!!
  13. You're probably being punished badly by those 50mph zones with the old average cameras - worse than you realise. You know they can't track you across lanes, don't you.
  14. You can't have done mate. I live in Surrey and have regularly done Leeds to home in 3hrs. I have done home to Scarborough in 3hrs 15 mins. 266 miles via the M25, M1, M18, A614. I rarely do over 100.
  15. For my money, I am happy to give Pardew time becase he was denied a pre-season, but three months or 15 games is my limit. Why? Who knows. It just 'feels right' - it's long enough to gel a team in my view. It doesn't mean I then expect us to win every game but we need to see more wins more often and by bigger margins. These are the things we appear to have got right: Defence Work-rate Spirit These are the things we still need to work very hard on: Movement Use of the ball Attacking Shooting Delivery I won't comment on yesterday's game but I am disappointed that we don't use the ball better. We really did under JP whatever you say about him. The lack of pace people talk about is excacerbated because we go direct too early too often from what I have seen this year. It leaves our players stranded and stretches the play back to front. If Morgan hits a 60 yard cross-field ball he can't then be in the box to receive the cross either... so we need to play higher up the park, push more midfielders on and stop bringing every one back for corners (does my head in always has!!!) I would like to see KD ordered not to pass the ball more than fifteen yards!!!! And then players fined for any ball over 30 yards that does not hit its target. If we're not winning more than we're losing after October 1st then we are in for a long old season, and possibly a long time here in this Division. It's very well saying give Pardew this season, but then what? Surely, we have to be winning games this season to show we can do it, full stop. For the record, I am not calling for change, but I don't believe we can win the league/promotion next season unless we are challenging for it this season, because we simply will not be winning enough games often enough.
  16. To my mind we have to win the next two games. This is a pyschological imperative. We need to breed a winning spirit and while this sounds bleedin' obvious, you cannot do that without winning regularly. Under WGS we kept going in every game because we genuinely believed we could win - and we did. Who can forget the last minute winners against Villa, West Ham etc and often away from home too... This is not about 'fitness' per se - footballers are fit. It's about not giving up, not accepting second best, not being complacent and not resting until you are spent in the cause of victory. Pardew has brought in enough players to change the mentality at our club. It has been a losing mentality for too long. The next two games have to show that the mentality is now a winning one. Players should be taking to the field fully expecting to win and working until they do, in every game. Crafting winners is the hallmark of the great manager. If we do not win the next two games, there are serious questions to answer about whether we can ever regain the right mentality.
  17. While I am very, very disappointed that we couldn't win - not scoring while dominating is the hallmark of poor sides - the fact we scored so late is encouraging. I hate the phrase, but these things are genuinely green shoots - sporadic evidence that the grass is growing. Give it a month and if the lawn is not lush then it's time to start upping the ante in calls for better.
  18. We really have to work on finishing and the attacking third though.
  19. My prediction that we will be unbeaten until Xmas holds firm...
  20. ****ing get in!!
  21. You were right my friend.
  22. MASSIVE GAME for us now. We can win the race to 1 point!!!!
  23. Don't gloat until we are two nil up my friend...
  24. It is actually closer to get there from Austria! FACT!
