  1. It is a fact that the deaf are by virtue of being deaf also insomniacs. Just watch any programme post 1am...
  2. Then, remember this bit.
  3. Not judging? Do me a favour. Read plenty of other posts! And you yourself said it's been pretty awful - which is patently untrue - Brum, Millwall, Stockport (even Brentford) these games were not awful unless you are mental enough to believe that we can play Premiership football in League One... And I don't think you'll find a single comment about people being "excited". This is about some people having patience. And loads having none. And those who have none would be better advised to think back eight weeks to when they were about to have NO football club at all. NONE. And those asking the man who has already lashed out £20m to keep digging into his pockets should be ashamed of themselves. I would rather watch my club being rebuilt slowly than have none to enjoy at all.
  4. One thing: can the beeb stop reading out texts and emails from people who clearly know feck all about football. There are enough of us on here, without our boll0x opinions being given prime time! Just show the football and if you have to, let Claridge talk about it, but make it quick.
  5. Not panicking? Then why start threads talking about survival, relegation, etc and contributing the same?? We have played five games. What would we change?? Noone can identify specifics, so belt up and let the manager do his job. And judge him at Xmas? No one is happy that we are not winning. But people can see progress. And from where we were, progress is the first step. Winning is the result of hard work. You can't just start by winning and then work hard. No one seems unhappy with a single Pardew signing. No one seems unhappy to find Wotton on the bench. No one seems unhappy that we have signed the league's top score from last season who has scored three in three games. So what we need to do now, is to STOP JUDGING. At the moment in my kitchen are three eggs and some cheddar. Right now it makes for a pretty poor omelette. But give me ten minutes and some heat and THEN judge it!!!!!! Alternatively, you could say that turning the stove on, getting out a frying pan and grating the cheese is a good start. What you cannot say right now is that I will fail to make a cheese omelette.
  6. What, on the end of their legs??
  7. Then stop panicking now. The boss has been here for about 60 days.
  8. But we have too many fans who do the same at SMS!!!! I have never and will never understand fans who don't want to give their team encouragement. Imagine going to a school sports day and sitting in silence...
  9. I would bring back a fit Holmes and let him cross the ball for Lambert and Saga or Patterson or AN OTHER Striker. I would play Mills, Lallana or James on the right to do the same with a clear mandate to play wide and only come inside when the opportunity for a cross ball presents itself. I would keep the same back five for the whole season and ensure they are the tightest unit in the league. A midfield pairing of Morgan/Hammond/Gillet (perm two from three) selected based on the relative strengths of the opposition. And we'll win more than we lose.
  10. No, but then football is not the cinema. The point is, you know people are going to stand, so why sit behind them?? I'm not a nutter or a hard core fan, but when I go to away games, I love the fact I can stand up which does make for a better atmosphere - it's just a fact of life. To sit at the back, in the full knowledge that people are going to stand in front of you is madness. If you want the best view, STAND at the back
  11. I'm pretty sure if we drew every game until then and won every game afterwards we would still be safe. The point is that five games into a five year plan is a great time to rethink the entire strategy, don't you think...
  12. I'm not being funny, but why not sit at the front? This is like going to the cinema as a midget knowing that the giants are in the queue outside and choosing to sit behind them.
  13. Last season, was a disaster by dint of one man and his 'vision'. Thankfully he has gone and we might now concentrate on running a club like every other club in the land. We have appointed the best manager we could afford. We have backed him financially. Let's see if using the same strategy as every other succesful club now pays dividends... Certainly, after five games is a bit rich to be suggesting that it isn't working. How many marathon runners are awarded their medals on the start line?
  14. After five games, two teams have beaten us, both away from home. We are competing, we are clearly good enough, just lack the confidence and finesse to finish better and kill teams. That could turn on a goal off someone's arse. That's football.
  15. 18 shots, hit the woodwork twice, maybe the poster forgot his guide dog?
  16. Careful, you'll get Carpel Tunnel Syndrome...
  17. Even if we had not had the five years of turmoil preceding this season, you could not judge a manager on five games. FIVE FECKING GAMES. Just repeat it, over and over slowly.
  18. Lol - tell you what, ask Markus to take his £20m he's spent so far and clear off, then we can run the club on the hot air and bullsh!t generated by fans...
  19. You get confidence from winning games. Simples.
  20. er, that would be Leeds who have been in this division for three years and Charlton who appointed Parkinson and let him go 20 games without a win and a relegation into his career then?? Fecking hell, get a grip and grow soeme BALLS!
  21. Be realistic. We started ten points down on everyone. We have been getting worse since 2003. You don't turn a supertanker around in a ship's length. I thought you of all people would know that We can still challenge this year. We just need to put the bad things right and all the indications are that Pardew: 1. Knows what's wrong. 2. Is honest enough to admit it. 3. Is doing something about it - Murty, Hammond, Trotman, Lambert...
  22. I think Wenger is handling him perfectly. He will score and create sublime goals at a club who play the most attractive football in the world. The kid is an artist at Michaelangelo's studio.
  23. According to Soccare AM we will finish either bottom or top based on statistics after this stage. My money is on..... top!
  24. Sure, I would agree, but that isn't really any different to ONeill or Fergie. I think one man has to be in charge of the playing set-up from soup to nuts. If a DoF simply signs the cheques and agrees the salaries, fair enough. But where a DoF is superior to the manager it simply never appears to work.
  25. Very rarely do I have sympathy with footballers, but really they are only human and want to work in a stable environment within which they know where they stand, what the oprpotunities are, etc. It's why so many of them often respond well to new managers - new broom and all that. And why so often, they revert back to type if it becomes apparent that they new man doesn't have any better grasp of the club than the last manager. It is genuinely why it often takes managers time to turn around failing clubs. What we need - we've all said it - is a root and branches review. That appears to be what Pardew is doing.
