  1. More to the point, in Southampton and surrounding areas we have choices. In Norwich, what do you do? Watch football or **** your sister??
  2. Agreed - that's why I said priority one day one. In fact, I would be disappointed if the consortiums are not sounding out managers NOW.
  3. I think that does him a disservice. They scored some good goals (and against us!!) using the pace of King and Young. They went, he was given no money to replace them, so used what he was left with. Sometimes managers get a rep for using what little they have the only way they can.
  4. LOL - only Matt could be so honest.
  5. Without getting into another pointless debate about the ruddy one, this is where he and I disagreed 100%. I believe in: Ferguson Wenger Clough Mourinho Cappello Redknapp and so on I believe these are the people who run their clubs/teams and that the Chairman is there to FACILITATE them.
  6. It will depend totally on the new team and generating support by stating their aims and winning us over. I, for one, want to see a ST available for £300 tomorrow. Sign me up!
  7. He could easily be our Chairman - ie. a non exec who is the figurehead for the club. He is 100% qualified for this role - noone doubts his motivation or love for Saints and that's really the only qualifications you need for the role! He would put bums on seats and imagine the difference between MLT asking for support and ruddy-face or tanned-man... enough said!
  8. Yes, but first spend it on the manager!!!!
  9. Newcastle are about to drop into the Championship with half a billion behind them. Sunderland could easily do likewise with their moneybags consortium. Nowrich have been relegated despite Delia's cash. But Bolton are safe as houses, as are Doncaster - for now. Which tells me, it doesn't matter how much you've got in the bank, if you've got coco the clown on the bench. The first job for our new owners is to find the right manager - and let him invest (or not) in the playing squad. Priority number one, day one.
  10. we need: Pardew Boothroyd Curbishley Add host of other proven managers available, with experience of PROMOTION and WINNING to the list above. We don't need someone who's invested in reducing his golf handicap
  11. I'm just so angry we could have been playing Newcastle next year!!!! Arggghhhhhh
  12. Oh, sorry, one of their Directors sat on the panel that decided we would have 10 points if we stayed up this season and 10 next... unlike S****horpe who had ten now. So, by association, from now on as far as I'm concerned, feck 'em.
  13. They don't have the money nick. They are simply guys who bring money together for property developments. Most of their backing is Qatari and they're several developments which are not selling. It's all money on the never, never as far as I can see!
  14. Haha Nowrich - serves you right you t0ssers!
  15. Nick and Christian??? They'll be out of money soon...!!!!!
  16. Oh, the story lasted a bit longer than Ricky Hatton - lol
  17. Talks with a property developer about working with another property developer and would result in a seat on the board. Twenty seconds.
  18. The choice will be: Walk away now Walk away in 12-18 months when it's dead anyway. not much of an appetiser is it?
  19. Off topic but I don't know if you saw the incredible programme on Jim Clark recently on the BBC?? It was really only after his death and the campaigning of Jackie Stewart that we're lucky poor Ayrton and Roland Ratzenberger are among rare fatalities these days. An incredible driver, Senna - they're making a film about his life (http://www.autocar.co.uk).
  20. In the aftermath of the deduction and relegation, this board was full of bright, creative and some incredibly moving, gestures by fans. Despite our hour of need and the prevailing ecomonic woes, hundreds of us pitched in tickets to those less well off. It was enough to make several grown men cry. People dipped hands into pockets they could ill-afford to empty, to keep our club afloat. Most arguments were set aside - and finally we remembered that money matters not as much as all those fantastic qualities that first drew me to this club - an unswerving belief in better times, a family feel of (as Jo Tessem so beautifully put it) "looking after one another" and a passion for justice and to see David succeed in Goliath's yard. THAT for me, above results, has been the Southampton I love. Then the prospect of one man going to an away game returns us to the squabbling, in-fighting and grandstanding that does no one any good in the long-run, regardless of your view...
  21. 110%. I begged people to go this season. Next season if he is around I shall be wearing my Southampton 1885 shirt with pride. For two games this season I have felt like a fan again - they've cost me more than a black-market cup final ticket and they've been worth it. With that imbecile anywhere near this club after his catastrophic decisions, we might as well set fire to the stadium and roast some marshmallows over it.
  22. Which shows how little you know about banking, given that Coutts was/is part of RBS...
  23. You can get ointment for that...
  24. You'd be surprised what they'll settle for. It's a case of the bird in the hand... And the last thing they want is a huge white elephant on their books.
