  1. Er, isn't that Phil Collins...
  2. Never mind whether he is a nice guy or a nasty piece of work, the point is he has as much proof of being adept at management as Mother Theresa. Can we please just do what successful clubs like Everton have done (I use them because there was a time we regularly played and beat them) and sign a manager with a proven record at another club and back him for the long term? Seriously, some people would think football is rocket science judged on the way we go about finding and suggesting managers. Who next, Claus???!!!
  3. If this happens I will paint my arse blue and streak across Fratton park singing Ferk Off Pompey.
  4. It does. Cos as far as I know it was never done... oops don't tell that to all those who think he did... Sundance et al...
  5. Ha, LMAO. And the fella in the pink jumper - one of the best days out ever. And what a goal from the wonderkid!! Happy days.
  6. This is a joke. That man must not be allowed to build our squad. Not now, not ever.
  7. Farking hell. I wish I was as bad as this and had people fawning over me. Relegated without a fight or hope. And he's the winner we need?? I give up. Football has gone mad. The world has gone mad. I'm off to claim for the manure that's spread about this site on expenses...
  8. Hang on - on the radio this morning some Boro fan talked about them going into liquidation in the 80s. That wasn't the end of them then. Why should it be the end of us? Anyone know the real story - no just amateur speculation (which I readily accept is exactly what I have just contributed).
  9. Mate, my gran could have done a better job and she died well over a decade ago...
  10. Asking for 14m shouldn't prevent the club being sold for any price. It's simply negotiation. If someone can afford £10, then they can afford £14 - doesn't mean they'll willingly pay the extra mind...
  11. You're right, successful business people have been alerted to the fact that if they succeed in football club chairmanship no-one will thank them, and if they fail, everyone will blame them... You couldn't make this stuff up. Feck me.
  12. Oh someone shoot him.
  13. You cannot blame Sky. Football's adminstrators and Bosman yes. All Sky did was repackage football and make the Premiership the envy of the world. The FA and Football League simply didn't work hard enough to ensure that the income generated was distributed fairly - and frankly nor did we care when we were on the gravy train...
  14. It's a shame that more footballers (and perhaps more politicians and more people generally) don't realise that you can buy anything but a legacy or a place in history.
  15. Sadly, you are probably right since 99% of footballers exemplify what is wrong with this country. It's time there was a national movement to lift snouts from the trough...
  16. I wonder how a single player will be able to look a retired road-sweeper in the eye knowing that, in the hour of need, it was the man on £80 a week who stepped up to the plate.
  17. I think some people have forgotten we're at the bottom of league one on minus ten points...
  18. Basically, you predicted everything would be alright and you were wrong. Does that help?
  19. Exactly - old romantics might miss the Dell, but the reality is SMS is a perfectly good Premiership stadium, just a shame about the team!! PS: do you know your namesake was a commentator on Test Match Special!!!
  20. Like anything if you can buy cheap and sell higher, you make a profit.
  21. Three things Rupert did for us: 1) Relegated us 2) Relegated us, again 3) Bankrupt us But apart from that, brilliant, enjoyed every moment.
  22. I have a personal message for Mike. When in a hole, stop digging.
  23. If it was any other business, you might ask all the staff, so I wouldn't have an issue with that. But the point is not that you need to ask, but that people who know they are well-rewarded and know that they are being financially supported by people earning a fraction of their incomes, ought to have 'consciences'. That is the whole point from my perspective. I bought a few tickets for a family to go to the last home game I've never met. Nickh spent hundreds to do likewise (and bloody good on him). Hundreds/thousands of us have shown that we're willing to give up a proportion of OUR salaries. If it were my business and I was well paid, I would be working out how I could help the business and the people keeping it afloat. But that's me. I'm middle-aged and come from a time before 'every man for himself and feck the rest'....
