What the Tevez affair really proves is that high quality footballers commanding high salaries are the difference between success and failure. Can you please take this message and ram it down the throat of Rupert Lowe, whose policy of relying on quantity rather than quality cost us our Premiership status and could quite easily now relegate us to League One. The man simply refuses to accept every football truism known to every football fan worldwide - the better the players, the more successful the club, the more it costs to pay and retain them...

My guess is that it was the tanker laden with bullsh!t that our board are preparing for the remainder of the season... In fact, it was due to arrive in time for the 'Fan's Parliament' to dissuade us from follwing the path of Guy Fawkes...

OK, you fund me and I will play in a shirt with your name on...

And what if we had simply remodelled the existing squad with Pearson... No point in ifs and buts, there's a job to be done and it's down to the current management and players to win every game from here on. It's possible. The quality of this league is utter pants this year. It's about time our bloody players and manager started to IMPOSE themselves on teams and dictate. WE are STILL A MASSIVE club in this league. Let's start to act like it and stop playing the bloody martyr. Send me some boots and I'll kick some of these opponents from here to Blackpool and back!

Pun intended?

We were never 16th surely?
-
And can all players please use their usernames on their backs? It would be precious little fun shouting abuse at a Philip/a Selby not knowing that he/she is Alpine, Stanley, Baj, etc, would it?

I dispute that there is no enjoyment in a team winning 10-0. In fact, it's all I've dreamt about for thirty fecking years since we lashed Coventry 8-2...

she will, you'll be p!ssed and not just p!ssed off!!!

The problem with democrary is that it just doesn't work full stop!!! Democracy ends up being a popularity contest - ie. people do what they think is required to be re-elected and not what is necessarily best. As an example, no fecker will bite the bullet on transport and the need for REAL new infrastructure. Why? Cos is it will take years and bags of cash - and the benefits cannot be realised before the next voting period. What I want (and I am sure thousands of other fans want the same) is for some common sense to be applied to the way our club is run. The board are at loggerheads and yet they want EVEN more opinion. It's barmy. And as has been pointed out, a ruse to divert attention from the total shambles made of the first two thirds of this season.
-
To start with though Nick, the board must realise that we are not customers but fans - there is a massive difference. Customers have choices. We all know that ultimately we will pay money as part of this deal - although fans don't need to, they could easily support from their armchairs for nothing - and that's fine. But if you start with the premise that fans are customers you end up having a very poor relationship with them. You'd be better off looking upon fans as 'partners' - stakeholders - to use a horrible phrase! We have something more to give than money - at least I believe we do, and so judging by your usual posts do you!!

Could not agree more. I have two Chelsea supporting pals who are at pains to tell anyone and everyone they (and me) were there when Chelsea came within a few points of the Third Division!!! What they have today only matters because of who and what they were...

Good leaders don't ask for leadership help. They just lead.

Do you know what, this is total boll0x. The government comes up with guff like this - let the people decide which hospital they go to, which school, let them tell the Police how the Police are performing... It's a load of totally bloody nonsense. When I keel over I want an ambulance asap to get me to a hospital that will cure me and not kill me of MRSA - where it is and who runs it, I could not give a flying feck about. Make it close and make it good. That's all that matters. Same for my football club. Why should I decide how it's run?? What the hell can I really change? Just find a decent manager, back him and don't sack him. And guess what?? We'll all be over the fecking moon.

Time to Allow Standing in the Northam
Legod Third Coming replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Yes, I remember going to the Take That concert at the 02 with the kids and being terrified that all hell might break lose during the period when 20,000 were not just standing but DANCING - can you imagine - in their seats... I called the police, the fire brigade and the coast-guard (well it was the Isle of Dogs) but they simply refused to believe that such a catastrophe waiting to happen was real. I was glad to get out alive. Especially when you consider all 20,000 of us left and stood on escalators to the ground floor. Terrifying. If we leave these people alone to stand they make more noise. More noise can't do our team any harm can it? Oh, it's also the law not to swear or shout abuse at a football match. Do you always abide by that too? And I have no need to ingratiate myself with people I'm never likely to meet do I? I'd rather p!ss off the quasi-fascists we have on here who want to uphold the law! -
We need all the help we can get to survive. It is now time for the management at the club to simply advise stewards in the Northam to ignore standing and encourage more noise from this stand which should and can be the heartbeat of the club. (Spoken as someone who has never and will never go in there!)

To the Kingland scarfer with the grey hair...
Legod Third Coming replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Far from ruining my experience, the fella showed more energy, enthusiasm and passion than was on display for the entire game, which was kinda my point... -
Unless you think we've had our thick recently??!!!!

Where have all the Happy-Clappies gone?

Stanley and dogging... why am I not surprised???? -
Almost every week I promise never to go again.... every fecking week. Now I know what my best mate meant when he said he could give up smoking whenever he liked and in fact had given it up 4,200 times in the last ten years alone...

Danny fecking Higginbotham. FACT.

Where have all the Happy-Clappies gone?

What madness is this? A forum is the sum of its constituent posters. You can't withdraw your contributions because of the quality of contributions. That's like the old Groucho Marx quote "I wouldn't wanna join any club that would have me as a member"... I actually think it's improved a bit of late. Yes, you will always have your jonahs and boo-boys and, irritatingly, they are often proved right... But such is the way of our club and life per se that if you scream wolf long enough eventually one or two come by and prove you enlightened. If you are down about life and the SAINTS, well, ain't we all!!!! Shouldn't stop people laughing, debating, arguing and agreeing about how good or bad a right back we have and whether we should be diamond or Christmas tree... We NEED MORE of the shrubbery dwellers to emerge onto the lawn not LESS!!! -
I agree. Not sure he's been the same since his injury lay-off. Before that he was sharp and the goal at QPR was just majestic. Since he came back he's jumping over tackles and not putting it all in.

Our finishing was poor but knowing that we have been poor scorers all season, you also know we need to create a hatful of chances to hope we bury a couple. It's like me knowing the brakes are a bit iffy but driving right up somebody's arse all day - it's asking for trouble!! That said, results seemed to go a little bit for us on Saturday for a change and it's still all to play for. Perhaps Saturday will be the kick up the backside needed to know that three wins did not make us safe, simply gave us a bit of hope. I'm not giving up yet but we really do need to win this week to put pressure on those around us... -
I know, was he holding out for the draw??? And who was he bringing off to bring Wotton on???!!!! If he wants to throw an additional man up for the last five minutes great, but bizarre tactics for me on Saturday - just when I'd started to think he knew what he was doing!!!
