Kinda contradicted your first statement with your evaluations of the way players played. I can't believe anyone who saw that game thinks we played with anywhere near the urgency or tempo that we did against Cardiff and Preston?? There was too much ambling around from the front players and when they did get the ball, no real control. It seemed to bounce of us most of the time. It was soooo boring. Frenetic but in slow motion is how I would describe it. Every time a player got forward there was precious little support and when we got into crossing areas either there was no-one in the box or a cross went sailing past everyone... I agree we lack quality, but Saturday was too pedestrian for me. We never created any real pressure and allowed QPR to have the midfield to themselves - that could be poor tactics admittedly. But for a team teetering on the brink, I'd like to see more sweat coming off my players... We certainly played with more energy and passion in the two games we won at home recently... I wonder if the two are linked...

Just a thought but the idea of a diamond in midfield is not contrary to a 4-4-2. I doubt there are many teams who play with a flat four across midfield. Most these days recognise the importance of having one holding and one attacking central midfielder. As for right back, I would play Perry there and put Liptak or Wotton at CB.

Yep, that's how I felt... only I have actually seen three wins... But the general impression was one of wondering why I put more effort into going than was expended during the game...

The next 8 games...............................

This is my only hope. That we go away and play by hitting teams who set out to beat us on the break. Slim hope I know, but preferable to no hope... just... -

Were you the bloke asleep on my shoulder??!!!! -
I think he's a confidence player like Beattie and needs something (a goal) to give him that confidence. He was on fire and playing well and then subbed in our Birmingham defeat since when he's gone back to being slightly dangerous but not really looking like scoring or making space for himself.
-
I think that could be a bit premature... if he keeps them up and we go down then I think you will have your answer. Conversely, if we pull off a miracle and they go down you will have your answer.

But not Coventry apparently...

Yes, changes should be made for Blackpool. Ditch the lights and the donkeys.

Pardon my ignorance but what is that flag?

Nope, I am about five rows behind the bloke standing up trying to rouse the dead... and good luck to him, but today's assessment that me failing to sing was the reason for our abject play was stretching the old boundaries of logic I fear... And I'm one of the noisy ones usually!!! -
Euell got the ball in the box but missed. But I really thought he put himself about and worked hard. Saga ... mmm... not so sure. I reckon he's a confidence player and for some reason (maybe being hauled off a couple of games back) he's lost it.

Knock two points of anyone in front of the back four would be my view... McG 7?? He ain't my scapegoat but I didn't see anything other than a lot of hand on hips moments... Even Gillett was well below par.

The shooting I agree. Positionally we were poor and organisationally at times it was like JP's last game. But we didn't chase and harry properly. We didn't close down in midfield, only in the final third. Could be the manager's fault but on the pitch we lacked energy I thought.

I would like to invite you to mark my kids' GSCE papers and also provide an asessment of my love-making prowess to prospective mistresses... Simon Cowell you ain't...

Agree with all of that, especially the shooting and set-pieces. We get a free kick, pack the box and float the ball into the crowd... criminal really.

I bow to your coaching knowledge. When he went through today, the ball was crying out to be hit left-footed into the opposite corner. As a leftie myself I couldn't believe he went with his right. He aimed the foot towards the middle of the corner flag and post and that's precisely where the ball went!! It's like facing the wrong way on the first tee and being surprised when you break a window in the fecking clubhouse!!!! ARRRRGHHHHH!!!!! These are basics. That's all you need in this league.

Disagree. There was not enough chasing and harrying. We didn't close down quick enough. We didn't play high tempo up the park. We played poorly and one yellow card for a rash challenge does not to me shout of 'giving it some'... Had Euell scored early could well have been different. But we didn't shoot enough. We p!ssed about with the ball in the final third too much and we gave QPR all the time in the world in the midfield. Is it the players? Could Wotte have changed our shape? Who knows. But if there was passion there, it's the kind a wife shows when actually she's thinking about doing the washing as soon as you've finished...

Early in the season I think you were wrong about Lallana. Today I would agree 100%. He looked weak and lightweight and bottled a dozen or more tackles. Why do we do that lifting a leg above head height to win a ball nonsense? Why not put some bloody muscle into it and bully our way through using our heads??!!! Drives me crackers! Seriously, today it was like bloody Dancing on Grass out there...
-
Today I thought Surman was the one bloke on the park who really WAS trying. Some of his colleagues - Saga, McG, Lallana prime among them - simply strolled around for long periods. The key to our Cardiff win was that we chased and harried from front to back. Today we didn't. We meandered through the game. Not good.

Hey, I want to point out that the man in row x seat 912 fell asleep!!!!! At least I was angry enough to leave... -
To win today's match we needed someone who wanted it a bit more in my opinion.

Ah, that's ok then. Football team allowed to perform badly owing to their incumbant position as relegation favourites. My mistake. -
I accept losing. I'm a SAINT so I've grown up with it. But today was awful. Last week I watched beaten horses give more to finish 13th at Cheltenham. Where was the anger, fight, heart, passion and will that's required in our position?? One booking for a rash challenge? I would like to have seen a bit more tackling and a bit less pedestrian observation...
