Why we are not as good as we thought.
for_heaven's_Saint replied to CLOTH EARS's topic in The Saints
How does us saying that we're not as good as we thought we were make us arrogant? -
I have been positive and optimistic for the whole season, confident that we would finish top 2. But the result on Tuesday for some reason has made me really start to doubt our ability to win consistently and make those auto spots. I'm not at all confident going in to this one.

Tonight is one of our games in hand...

If this is an Alpine impression it's pretty good. -
The amount of people who we've signed who were supposed to be set-piece specialists is ridiculous. Tomasz Hajto anyone?

If I were manager, Morgan would be the first choice CM, with the other two rotating as and when needed.
-
Lol the moment when the two red light-sabers come on is great.
-
He got in some great positions and made some great runs past night, just at times his final ball let him down. I think we need Morgan in the team to spot his (and others') runs a bit earlier.

iPhone weather App is showing a symbol that looks suspiciously like snow for today. Will be mega p!ssed off if it gets called off tomorrow as I'll probably already be up there.

Although it is a rearranged game, there are 8 games on Tuesday night, including all of the teams above us. Tuesday, 22 February 2011 Bournemouth v Sheff Wed, 19:45 Brentford v Tranmere, 19:45 Brighton v Plymouth, 19:45 Carlisle v Exeter, 19:45 Dag & Red v Huddersfield, 19:45 Hartlepool v Southampton, 19:45 MK Dons v Oldham, 19:45 Peterborough v Colchester, 19:45
-
Also went to Charlton v Exeter.
-
Wasn't going to Rochdale but was obviously going to listen to it. On my way to the Valley now. Will probably sit in the Exeter end.
-
I really really hope it's not called off.

Was thinking of doing the same! How you getting there?

Songs for the new boys...
for_heaven's_Saint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
How about one to the tune of the 'If I had the wings of a sparrow' song. The word's to the orignal are: My bonnie lies over the ocean, My bonnie lies over the sea, My bonnie lies over the ocean, So bring back my bonnie to me. If we call Forte Jonny rather than Adkin's favourite 'Jonno' you could change it to: 'Our Jonny will win us promotion, Our Jonny will win us the league..... I'll get my coat. -
I'll be there, with many other London Saints.

And his lack of side burns is unnerving. -
Morons to the left of me, morons to the right

No problem with name calling as long as it isn't racist. I don't think that's really an unusual stance? -

haha I need tolerance because I have a problem with racism? Do you not see the irony in what you've said? -

First comment is fair enough- someone's opinion. Second comment unacceptable and if you heard someone saying that you should have reported him. -
The Ex-Saints still have their box and they invite about six ex-players at a time to matches meaning that all the members get to see Saints at some point in the season. I agree it is difficult to draw the line because there are some players in the Ex-saints who never made a first team appearance but this isn't to say they don't love the club as much as others. However it does show that it would be very difficult and costly for the club to make concessions for Ex-Saints because some would have to be excluded. I also agree that whilst some may not like NC, they do not want the club to fail. I actually don't think they realise that they are perhaps being a little narrowminded and selfish in complaining about the lack of recognition and concessions for the old players and truly believe it is detramental to the club.

Tbh I'm a little surprise by this story having heard first hand some of the Ex-Saints' opinions on NC. But if they are able to remain adult and professional and work through their differences that can only be a good thing.
