  1. Given the premise under which they were formed you would have to say that the Saints Trust is dead unless they have contacted all those who joined and agreed with them to continue under the same name but with a different agenda. Presumably they still won't be pushiing for a fan on the board? Still they have a dawn site more creedance than SISA who appear to me to be cobbled together by some local mouth pieces who have the vocal gymnastics of an avid reader of the Sun's letter page. They represent no one other than themselves which as far as I can tell is a number yet to require two taps of a keyboard. Nick Illingsworth may have his detractors but given the like's of Callaghan (O'Callaghan?) and Foley as an alternative and to back them over Nick would be a bit like selecting Crouch and Le Tissier over Liebherr and Coretes.
  2. In other words Colin you can't be bothered to debate your point of view against mine or you simply agree I may have a point and don't want to acknowlegde it. So your way of dealing with this is to ask the mods to close it. Now Jimmy D has bumped the thread and the pundits seem to be agreeing that taking penalties in a World Cup Penalty shoot seem to agree with me that it is 'different gravy' to having a great club record. As Dixon said if that was the case take MLT to the World Cup............but that is not the case at all is it as we want a team and coaches employed to a level where the escape hatch of the shoot out is not required. If you don't want your posts/threads challenged from time to time don't post.
  3. Nice to see what DSM the moderator considers unpleasant. My two would be: Dark Sotonic Mills Prejudice I would have suggested Sotonjoe but brain dead is technically dead and no doubt someone thinks he is still worthy of the electricity bill so that would be harsh.
  4. Perhaps he feels he needs to try and help overcome the prejudice that has led him to live a lie to himself for his entire life and no doubt upset a few people close to him along the way. You don't want to know if some guy is gay in a physical men's sport, Why? Do you think they'll start getting it on during a game like we all do during our working lives with those of the gender we find attractive? The guy is not 'boasting' about it, he is coming out partly in an attempt to overcome people like you with homophobic attitudes and I guess he has more guts and courage in his little pinky than you have in your entire body. I know in a battle which one I would want on my side. It won't be the likes of you frightened to tackle someone because they might be 'gay'.
  5. Singer: Leona Lewis - Major UK arena tour in June and only 8 dates I think can only escalate her diva like status. Comedian: Ramona Marquez Actor/Actress: William Parsons / Keira Knightley (Both made/making West End debuts this year which can only add to their reputations) Personality: Peaches Geldof - famous for having a famous Dad and a tragic Mother. A modern day Liza Minelli minus any known talent IMO. Sports star: David Haye (cement his position) / Tiger Woods (Uncement his) Death: Bruce Forsyth / Seve Ballesteros / Joan Rivers
  6. Personally, I think it is worrying that fans look at players from other teams and feel the need to question their sexuality. Personally, from watching a lot of football I wouldn't recognise a straight player from a gay one and woudl ask what are these fans looking at to draw such conclusions. Unfortunately, Homophobia is rife in football as our recent home game against Brighton showed and IMO it's not the fear of coming out to their team mates it's the fear of being outed to the crowd. I will admit I laughed at the chants from the Northam that day with shouts like 'Does your boyfriend know your here' but in hindsight its far from funny and akin to laughing at a banana being thrown on the pitch. Most of us our in this day and age are repulsed by racist chanting so why is it acceptable to alienate people simply because of their sexuality? As a ardent heterosexual (for want of a better term) I recoil at the sight of two blokes getting intimate in a Soap as much as I do at watching a graphic depiction of an operation on Holby City. It's simply not my cup of tea but I do not consider either morally wrong or reprehensible it's just something i would rather not know about in to much detail. If that is the case why would fans seek out to expose other players and I note no one on here has so far questioned the sexuality of any of our players and I don't recall any fan given Graeme Le Saux homophobic abuse whilst he wore a Saints shirt simply because he chose to read the Guardian. This not an issue about gay men in tough sports (Having recently undergone a barrium enema and full bowel xray) they are tough enough, but an issue about homophobia in the crowd and one or two latent homosexuals. The authorities kicked out racisim they now need to kick out homophobia.
  7. And thankfully back on subject . I believe that he wont even make the play offs whereas southgate at least knew his players and after a run of poor results was turning it around again and i am sure his last games compare favourably with Strachans . The chairman you can understand for making the call but not by putting in a replacement who on balance offered on more potential than his manager at the time and probably a lot less .
  8. A scumbag who on this occasion had the audacity to back the club over its policy and one that clearly is still giving it some difficulty. I dont presume to show anyone on here what i am like and let them draw their own conclusions as i am sure they draw their own about you. I never expected you to agree with me and given the sensitivity of the subject i didn't expect to much support but that is not reason enough to hold back on giving an opinion if you feel it is justified and i did. If that makes me the lowest of the low so be it but it is an undeniably difficult call for a club to make and they need a policy to prevent having to make unfair decisions in my innocent and humble opinion. Best wishes Daren for a peaceful Christmas and New Year.
  9. Tame, sounds like if I had accepted your offer of a pint the evening would have been a evening of tumbleweed dodging. Or is your renewed hostility simply a sign that you cannot handle rejection? Hypo as for yourself then yes you told me in a pm to retract my comments but as you pointed out it's not what I said its the way they were likely to be interpretated and if that was the case none of us would ever write anything. I stand by the comments at the time and simply supported the club and belief that it was the right action to take. If people are so shocked that I supported the club's stance on charitable requests then perhaps they should have supported Daren's cause at the time. I appreciate everything was funded by himself and just required the players to sign but if they acted on every request the players would never train as I assume they have plenty of charity and football business signings to do. The same logic applies to the collection for charity on a matchday as you allow one chairty the floodgates will be open for all and how do you turn one down and not the other? I read with interest that the Saints Supporters Charter specifically addresses their Charity Policy whereby they intend to establish the 'application process for charitable requests, with the overriding objective based on ensuring a structured and co-ordinated approach where the value of the club's contribution is optimised at every opportunity.' Now that reads to me as if this has been a major problem for them in the past and hardly surprising as the club is a cornerstone in many peoples lives. I don't doubt for one minute Daren's was an isolated request and that has always been my issue, who should the club say yes to and who to turn away so assuming you can't support every request you have no other fair option but to have a charitable policy and turn adhoc requests away. That has solely been the basis of my argument from day one but Daren chose to personalise it and my only mistake was to retaliate to his insults that now leads him to quote my resultant insults chapter and verse whereas I try to only react to the last post. I have drawn a line under this but in the light of a few posters having their two penneth worth of which they are entilted I wanted to sign off with my side of the story. It was only ever for me about the request and that i did not consider unreasonable for the club to reject it, Daren obvously thought differently and didn't want to hear my opinions and to that all I can say is don't post if you seek nothing but agreement. Finally, I have never insulted Daren's Mum or anyone else for that matter who is suffering from a major illness. In fact the few who genuinely know me on this forum will I believe say I am exactly the opposite to how some would like me to be portrayed and with regards to cancer especially I know first hand how damaging the disease can be on the sufferer and their families but neither do I believe should one case confer rights over another especially when it will affect 1 in 3 of us at sometime in our life. That really is all.
  10. I agree that is sad news as they are one of those manufacturers whose quirkiness gave buyers an option from the ubiqutous German offerings. Problem they had though was that their cars were simply to expensive to compete and they should never have sold to GM as you rightly state as they lost that niche feeling they previously enjoyed. Still for any brave souls out there looking for a new car be it second hand or brand new there will undoubtedly be some great deals on Saab cars now but I won't be rushing to grab myself a bargain because I'm sure GM's offer that they will honour warranties etc is genuine I suspect it may be somewhat different in reality. Saab customers won't have quite the same after care sales service at a Vauxhall Dealership where i assume they will be asked to go. Anyone out there own a Saab? It's just moved into first place in the depreciation stakes unless it's a yellow convertible then rarity alone should see it hold its value. (Sorry Hamster!)
  11. Like work whilst the boss plays about on a forum all day.
  12. Although not surprised by our resident fascist.
  13. And I accept that but two wrongs don't make a right and FF can't bemoan Unite for a PR disaster and start one of his own making. Given his comments he was coming across as a tad personal and that is when the battle is lost. If he already has the moral ground on BA's bosses as you suggest why give them some back?
  14. Absolute rubbish, there are winners and losers and good companies and bad companies and show me a bad company / loser and generally you will have a militant workforce and those who fight against changes as the bosses try to protect the health and wealth of the company for future generations. Any workforce from the top down that displays your mentality is doomed to failure and as antiquated as your proletariat thinking. Do you think the NHS or the MOD for that matter would have wasted millions and millions of pounds on computer systems if they had not had some highly paid experts and project management gurus running the show? The civil service is as biggest comfort zone to its employess IMO as some of the Royal Mail and BA staff would like theirs to be.
  15. Trouble is Johnny is wrong on both counts. I am no traitor because if you cannot be true to yourself and then what are any of us? Admittedly the questionnaire could have done with a few neutral answers and in some cases I was ambivalent about the answer and didn't want to answer either way. As for a being a luvvie that simply came about a bit like British Politics. Strip the choice down to only 3 and really ony 2 parties with a chance of winning you don'tso much as chose who to vote for as the others simply discount themselves from the race.
  16. Trade Unions are an anachronism and regrettably as much as the views of Duncan Holley who doesn't seem to grasp the gravity of his comments on his company's ability to attract future flight bookings as pointed out by Verbal in an earlier post. Just about every job description I have ever read or written demands a certain amount of flexibility on the employee and points out that from to time to time they may need to work longer hours or take on different responsibilities as the demands of the business dictate. If the employer abuses that level of flexibility the employment laws in this country are sufficient enough to give the employee an avenue for redress and then of course there is the European Working Directive. If their is anyone unambitious or stupid enough to restrict themselves to a 48 hour working week when perhaps their colleagues are more than happy to work longer hours for rewards such as overtime, future pay rises, bonuses, promotion and even job security then I suggest they probably work for BA or the Royal Mail.
  17. We know why the lightbulb needed changing but don't let the con fuse you.
  18. Absolutely the post important factor because if he is not enjoying it that may simply be the answer. He may not want to play football but is worried about telling his parents who he will recognise (even at 10 ) have spent a lot of time and money supporting him playing football and at that age they still want to please their parents. (Don't worry give it 4 years and the opposite will be true) I appreciate what you are going through but I do think sometimes less is more and if your son is good at football he is probably good enough to try other sports such as athletics that will at this stage of his development compliment what he does on the football pitch and improve his confidence.
  19. '....who reside in the bottom-left segment of the political compass' Without a jot of cynicism that was a quality comment JB. As Stephen Fry once said that the Englsih language is so diverse with so many different words meaning the same thing that he could create a meaningful sentence safe in the knowledge that it would never have been said before by anyone else.
  20. I agree if they did this to try and prevent a ballot/strike. However, once that got passed I think BA are taking desparate measures in desparate times and whilst I suppose it is dirty tricks it is hardly being done from a position of strength. Looks to me like they have decided attack is the best form of defence and who can blame them?
  21. Only every flown with AA for work and that was business class and you turn up at teh door and turn left and not right and that 'chewing the wasp' smile of the meeter and greeter suddenly changes. Serious toadiness in the extreme. Virgin are good and if I have a complaint with them it's usually their passengers - I suppose attracted by cheaper flights but who flies anything but Economy when you are paying yourself? You would have to be seriously wealthy or stupid to waste nearly £2k just because you couldn't sit in more cramped conditions for 7 hours or so.
  22. I suspect this post pretty much sums up the feelings of most rational members of the general public sick to the back teeth of striking workers and their unions who think their job is a right as oppose something you need to work hard at to retain whilst accepting their will be peaks and troughs that you will need to work through with you employer and not against them. Unions are a complete waste of time and thankfully unheard of in some industries today and they are usually businesses with some of the hardest working employees who don't expect their packages served up on a plate simply for turning up for work and working to their job description year in year out and adding zero value as a result.
