  1. The JPT. The other two options are simply the work of dreamers. The important thing is we build on what we have achieved this season and ensure promotion via 1st or 2nd next season. Pompey game is an irrelevant distraction that has been escalated by our fans out of all proportion to what should be our real ambitions. In any event we can't lose the Pompey game even if we do lose the way that club is heading, can we? The only depressing thought will be those who hijack this forum revelling in their demise without a thought to how much they have enjoyed over hyping this game. Perhaps whatever the result on the 13th we may all be losers in the long run. Lets hope we have a day at Wembley in the JPT and finish (in points terms) nearer 6th than 21st and at the moment that doesn't look nailed on.
  2. I think Schneiderlin has been a lucky boy on occasion and his challenges at times can be rash as oppose to genuine hard tackling. Puncheon's record is worrying and Danns irrelevent. Red card won't get rescinded next time regardless and even if it did we can't afford important players to be missing games on appeal like you say. Puncheon looks even less like the cover we need centrally for Hammond and we could end up with James and Wotton as our midfield pairing when we need it the least.
  3. No different than the white yoof driving and wearing hoodies. The only difference women wearing burkas being god fearing and responsibile citizens probably don't drive around using a hand held mobile phone.
  4. Surprised no one else has mentioned our chairman in waiting if Mr Fialka had come up with goods not forgetting some other erstwhile supporters. Shocking in the extreme and to say we landed on our feet is an understatement to beat all understatements IMO.
  5. Thanks, I hope the council see sense and introduce a knowledge test in Southampton comparable to that in London and ensures that all new and existing cabbies take the exam - afterall you have nothing to fear. If you don't like my opinions don't start threads with racist undertones ridiculing the council for trying to address a potentially combustible situation. I am so far from trolling that you can possibly comprehend in fact it could be readily argued you are being overtly offensive with your opening post. What is your next target, drivers with turbans?
  6. Direct a train driver? Never, have you? Driver at the next station can you turn right please.? Bus drivers with a quiet word on the country routes will drop you where you want so yes I have directed a bus driver. The issue is that unless the knowledge as regarded as it is in London is introduced to Southampton the problem will remain but the drivers and passengers are making it a race issue and so are the council inadvertently IMO. Make the test harder and all cabbies to resit them and we shall see who are the more diligent. Bear in mind jump in a cab in Central London and ask them to take you to Solent Road NW5 and unless the driver knows the area specifically (lives locally) he is going to struggle without a map, sat nav or your instructions.
  7. That I don't base my opinion on having watched him play one game against Saints recently? Some would say Jermain Beckford is the best striker in the league but I would'nt expect to bid for him because we need to spend money on another Hammond if not better. Puncheon for all his descriptions doesn't strike me as that type of player and you surmising that I was born an idiot, telling me that I am wrong as oppose to explaining why, doesn't change my mind, it in fact reinforces it, even allowing for laughable made up statistics. For the record if you read my posts I am not unhappy we have signed Puncheon, same as I wouldn't be if we signed 10 of the best players in the league but unless one was the midfield general that we are crying out for the gap in or squad would remain and it isn't going to be fulifilled by a skillful but lightweight midfield utility player. My opinion and perhaps you can live with that, without the insults - afterall, no one is born an idiot, as you can testify.
  8. Lloyd James corners and set pieces are very good? Corners have a success rate of beating the first man at a rate of about 1 in 5, I would suggest and Set Pieces are like his too early diagonal crosses, lofty and weak at best. I'd never thought I'd hear any fan say that who has watched James all season, inconsistent at best is how I would describe his ability to strike a dead ball and as woeful as Kelvin's ability to kick a moving ball.
  9. I agree but even before his injury there were signs of few mistakes in his game and one or two easy but misdirected passes. Over played I reckon, appearing in 28 of 29 games in less than 25 weeks. The writing was on the wall during the Exeter game with some unforced errors and then subbed for the first time in the dire Luton game and Pardew clearly couldn't afford to drop him for Millwall. I have advocated from day 1 that nice as it is to be contemplating a Wembley final it would be nicer if we had done it using our reserves and be a little closer to the play offs having converted some of those unlucky draws to more energetic wins. The news about his injury is not encouraging unless they are being cagey and giving false optimism to the opposition who will no doubt be aware how important he has been to our season to date. Otherwise, it's serious and we can rule out any return until we have heard that tired phrase ' The player has started light training'. Working with physios is a long way off training.
  10. For whatever reason the two clearly don't work well together but also Hammond before his injury was looking less effective than earlier in the season. Pardew has made some good signings and although the jury awaits the compelling evidence IMO is that our central midfield this season will be found wanting in our worst fixture pile up for a long time through lack of play makers as oppose to ball winners.
  11. Wes I don't suppose I need to remind you its the semi final 2nd leg of the JPT final and the rumoured £300k we have spent on Puncheon is unlikely to be recovered in a final appearance or at least not as much as an FA Cup final appearance or playoff final. I would argue astute is stretching it and the money for Puncheon plus a little more spent on a player we actually needed - a specialist and recognised CM - may have been more astute. One good game against us does not make Puncheon a great player it just so happens we have seen him play once and that make us an authority on his career to date and potential. I am not convinced and certainly not for your flimsey reason.
  12. Stop it, IMO Huffton uses Sure for (white) men and the non technology advanced variety. He won't use Mitcham as it visibily reduces white marks according to the radio adverts on TalkSport the other week. Influenced, I don't think the issue is being labelled a racist for wanting to get in a cab and be certain of getting to your destination but getting into a cab and being able to tolerate a foreign or regional accent other than the salt of the earth white British working class. Cor blimey guv. The less an arrogant and boring taxi driver speaks the better the rear view mirror is for checking the traffic behind not to see if I am paying attention as the fat mass talks to himself lounging to one side one arm on the wheel and one eye on the road. Get a bus, train or walk. Be it drivers or passengers we live in a democratic, multi cultutal society and is it our fault we couldn't rebuild this country after WWII without the help of immigrants or we have jobs that our white yoof feel are below them so Eastern Europeans come over, highly educated and only to willing to work at anything? We should be grateful they wanted to come.
  13. I went to a Mike Osman show once and despite the interpreter I still didn't find him very funny. Perhaps we should do away with all regional accents and unless you speak like David Cameron or the intensely dull Chris Tarrant then you can't drive taxis? Personally, I would love to see Mick Channon or Yousef Safri to name 2 of the many (Claus excepted) to be driving cabs with regional accents around Southampton as oppose to a bunch of lazy cabbies unable to match the work ethic that others are prepared to put in. Just my opinion you understand.
  14. I agree and despite the positive vibe regarding Puncheon we don't have a ready made replacement let alone anyone better than Hammond. As Saint Dave has informed us, Puncheon is cup-tied it does not augur well for our two cup games especially if we play like we did for the most part on Saturday. Wotton is fine as a defensive midfield but not alongside Schneiderlin and IMO the jury is still out on James despite that great goal, afterall one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that. I'm confident we can overcome MK Dons thanks to the slender lead but I worry for our chances against Pompey.
  15. An AGA? Do you like steam engines JB? There is only one thing that frightens me more in a modern house than an AGA, a hot tub on the decking. Keith's refusal to wear slippers suggests he may be a flip flops man at best IMO.
  16. The fault is entirely yours JB as in NY, you are no doubt aware, you have to tell the driver where to go. As an aside is there any place on earth more claustrophobic than the back of a NY cab? Size of the cars you'd thought they could accommodate a pair of legs in the back.
  17. Hammond doesn't sound like he'll be ready for the cup games with that description. Perhaps they are just being cagey but Puncheon better be up to the task if not.
  18. Racist ponces if you ask me and I'm surprised they still have their taxi licences. When you go to Benidorm for your holidays or god forbid Greece do you expect your drivers to carry passengers who only speak in their native language? Just because someone who looks Asian for example but speaks perfectly good English but with an accent is no different than say white boys from Jarrow or Govan. Trouble is the latter don't have to overcome the inbred racism of the drivers to make themselves understood. Just one small point how do these BNP idiots expect all these non-English speaking passengers to be able to read the signs? What exactly Huffton can't be made up? The drivers attitude or the council?
  19. Or buy some carpet tiles
  20. I can confirm that. We bought a modern 4 bed house with a large conservatory with under floor heating under a flagstone floor. The look and feel was fantatsic but the electricity bills were astronomical not to mentiosn teh cost of keeping it cool in the summer. House duly sold 2 years later and glad to see the back of it in the end. My advise if you want some fancy heating in your kitchen go for a modern 'out there' radiator. That way people will know you have spent lots of money as it seems important to some.
  21. It shouldn't. Quality not quantity control and before you post in future always ask yourself if your words are as powerful as your silence would have been. That way the natural order will be restored and your posts will be as reasoned and considered as mine. HTH
  22. Does that Dubai Phil, Mackenzie Crook?
  23. I'm not sure especially given our fixture pile up and Schneiderlin's disciplinary record. Do we know when Hammond is due back? Personally, I think we lack the creativity to use the creativity we have out wide and my take on the poor final ball from wide positions is purely a psychological problem for those getting forward in good positions. At the moment it seems rare for our wide / forward players to receive a quality ball when they have found the space that sometimes I believe they simply lose their head. They are probably thinking this is my one and only big moment and its taken this long for a decent through ball or cross field pass I'd better make it count. Holmes was finding acres of room on Saturday and only received the ball when he went looking for it nullifying the advantage he kept gaining. Our CM are not bad players, far from it but we need a player in there with the vision to match their potential creativity. I agree with you on Lallana whilst recognising his fantastic goal scoring record this season he can blow hot and cold and with a little more consistency to his performances we can only dream of what else he can deliver. You could argue his cold performances are due in part to the CM midfield lacking that extra bit of imagination / quality of delivery. I hope Puncheon proves me wrong but it seems many are basing his signing on one good game for MK Dons and I hope our scouts watched him more than that.
  24. Interesting enough you made the approach to those in the forefront. I would have thought you only needed one or two on board and the others would follow for fear of being misrepresented. In fact do you need them at all and just use the information in the public domain and add your own take - The Diary of a Saints Fan - The PLC Years or something like that. I can understand it wouldn't fit in with the anniversary but would question if it needed to? The Who's Who is ok but only as a point of reference and half of which we already have in ITN ( ) less the 1,000 or so players who have gone through our books in the past 5 years. Not many really understood the PLC from beginning to end and to simply tell the facts of the storyline and pull all the information in the public domain together would in itself be a good read with or without those who did not want to contribute. You could even write a book on the 'summer of our discontent' because a lot went on that many did not understand or has still to be explained. Still very interesting you made the approach and knowing you can't answer it I won't ask the obvious question.
