  1. Yes but by which team? Hopefully one of our nearest rivals.
  2. Well what sort of name is Papa? David James certainly does a good wolf man at the moment looking very big and scary yet he still couldn't make Peter jump.
  3. Very good assessment and IMO we should have other options in our huge squad to deliver the Positives you list for Waigo. McLaggon for starters if Pardew can start giving some of our youth a chance - assuming he is over his injuries.
  4. Don't they learn at 12 years old to play to the whistle. He doesn't have a strikers killer instinct and should perhaps start eating rice pudding.
  5. As a sub to come on from the bench to shake up a game when needed then I wouldn't disagree but as one of our first choice strikers way to inconsistent and very frustrating to watch. As I said people say he is threatening but if he keeps failing then he will need to change his name to Peter Waigo.
  6. Great dimension doesn't make up for 3 glaring misses in the 6 yard box this season when it has been quite frankly harder to miss. Perhaps that's what you mean by skill teh ability to lift a ball over the bar from two yards out? Making us look threathening is pointless if you don't have the armoury to carry out the threat. I think we should focus on finding a player who can deliver a set piece so we can rely on our one decent striker who is fit and hope Connolly wil return whose movement off the ball and ability in front of goal makes Waigo look like a bit of a clown.
  7. Problem is you don't win games for scaring defenders you do it by beating goalkeepers and Antonio fails more than he delivers in crosses and Waigo has the strength of a wet tissue in and around the 6 yard box. With Lambert taking set pieces does that not confirm our wingers are not the best at delivering a decent cross and that if Waigo is to replace Lambert in these situations i.e corners, don't you think he needs to grow some ? How many times does Waigo get caught in possesion because he is trying to tee up a fancy flick or the ball is getting stuck under his elastic legs? He tracks back a lot and wins the odd interception but neither player are capable of winning a tackle. Antonio and Lallana are also guilty of passing the ball up to Waigo and then jogging forward whilst admiring their work. With Lambert no doubt capable of giving Wotton a race in the 60 yard dash surely Antonio and Lallana should be adopting the old adage of pass and move. Move equalling run and not jog. Plenty of exmaples on Saturday when both gave up on balls that didn't even go out of play or were simply slow to react and plenty of times Waigo was up without support. The whole team are like some of our fans and are in danger of believing their own hype. Knocking pretty balls and fancy flicks and threatening to cause a threat worth worrying about are unfortunately not going to win football matchs without some much needed purpose and muscle.
  8. Doesn't amount to much though does it with we don't score and that is our biiggest problem - we don't take the chance we ceate and Waigo is guilty more than most.
  9. Waigo is pacey and attacking but a threat? What is his goals to shots / ratio?
  10. Sorry, I would agree with you on Antonio but recently he reminds me of a postman. The only time he can put in a decent delivery is if he uses his hands.
  11. Don't think he is that bad.!
  12. I do, earn the bragging rights unfortunately for us, by letting their team do the talking. I would call that smart and perhaps they recognise there are more important things in life at the moment than beating us. Its a pity there can't be a little more magnamity on both sides as lets face it the hatred has nothing to do with football which has just become a conduit for all that historic dock strike unrest.
  13. Tuesday night we allegedly saw the best of Waigo and yet yesterday against better opposition and a pressure cooker atmosphere we saw the opposite although on both games he made glaring misses. For all his industry he comes across as more showpony than a striker with a killer instinct for goal and some of his misses in and around the 6 yard box have been unforgiveable at any level and cost us games. With Lambert taking set pieces from it seems anywhere apart from our own 18 yard box it is important we have another striker with pace and the same killer instinct in front of goal as the man hmself. The problem with Connolly out (IMO our best option) and Barnard as bright as a 'nitelight' (WTF was he doing taking a certain goal from Lallana'a toes) Waigo seems to be our best option. However, I firmly believe he can only serve us best from the bench to mix it up when we need it otherwise his propensity when he starts to miss chances that frankly any U9 worth his/her salt could hit with a bit more power and accruacy. Waigo is to inconsistent and lightweight and flatters to deceive not unlike a few others from our recent past we could mention
  14. Perhaps they thought they didn't need to be smug. They proved a point and we confirmed we have a long way to go despite all out good progress. They'll survive new owner or not as IMO the Premier league will bail them out.
  15. Agreed, they would be better off in investing more money in the team and once we are established as a 'Premiership club' and not one of the yo-yo clubs then they could consider it but my guess is that by then the decision will be that of another owner(s) / bank.
  16. That's a big if and it's nothing to do with the ground/stands/opening blocks/areas of support etc. Its recognising we have a hard core fan base of c.18k and accepting that others won't turn up unless they are big games or we have a sniff of success. I seriously doubt we will get in excess of an average of 20k for the rest of the season and that's including the away support Leeds and Charlton will bring with them. I saw to many there yesterday who turned up for the occassion as oppose to regular supporters but at least thanks to ticketing policy they will have to attend a run of the mill league game but diluted over the rest of season I doubt we will see much effect except for the Leeds game. Numbers generate atmosphere and not number of empty seats so how do you maintain that level of support for the rest of the season with our usual support. In two words - you don't.
  17. You've never been off it lover boy xxx
  18. Did I say all? Plus I have private messages (which will remain private) from other forum members in support of my past comments but reluctant to put their head above the parapet and who can blame them at times. Looks like Kevin is one of those or perhaps more refreshing a fan who shuns or is unaware of this forum. So I am not wrong despite your insistence and failure to read my post. W
  19. I didn't say fans posted stuff they didn't believe but refrained from posting their true opinions. They held back or didn't post at all. I know for a fact some fans who regularly read this forum don't post for fear of a verbal pasting from the usual suspects. Not about to betray confidences but I have the pm's to prove it. They read the threads with interest but feel unable to comment? Why would that be? From a marketing perspective it doesn't tick all the boxes because it is not representative of the broad cross section of Saints fans only those with a very strong passion bordering on a healthy? obsession. If this forum represented all Saints fans every game would be a sell out . If you wanted to conduct prison reforms you wouldn't base it simply on market research based on the views of the inmates. This forum is not as powerful or representative as some would like to believe, if it was why would the Saints Aid concert last year have flopped so badly. I guess if people felt brave enough to speak their mind in the first place it may have been cancelled before they pushed ahead after all that positive market research. For the record Gemmel I am not as weird as people would like to believe I just try to be 100% honest in my opinions on issues so subjective at times only the arrogantly ignorant would class them as right or wrong. I don't argue with undisputed facts i.e. McMenemy is our most successful manager to date but I am not bothered either about posting my hope that record doesn't last another 5 years. He has chosen to stay away for whatever reason I just hope he doesn't change his mind as this club doesn't need him anymore - IMO on just another subjective matter.
  20. OK - you had me worried there as usually I am a fairly good judge of character. (Btw - most fans on this forum does not get close to equalling most fans) +( I don't believe most fans on this forum post what they really want to say for fear of being verbally abused by the mob who post to be popular and be in the gang)
  21. Drama teacher - figures
  22. Marking all those mock exams and worrying about 5 A-C pass rates including Maths and English so they can have a healthy intake to start programming in September. Or he could just be smug and self-important.
  23. teabagging
  24. Daren I think you have just made an error of judgement or were you trying to be funny with a play on words? Hindsight or classic after timing on your part and yet you still miss the original point - amusing play on words excepted.
