Still think we could have at least stolen a draw at Manure and a win at stoke should we have kept playing the way we were playing instead of trying (and failing) to go defensive despite the fact we are or atleast were terrible in that area. Messing about with Boruc, keeping faith in Davis and failing to play in a way that would get the best out of Lambert and Ramirez ? I think he would probably keep us up but certainly our future is with a bigger name IMHO The run up to WBA was dire, and even in our decent run we had abject performances

True but I think we will, my main sadness when Adkins left was for him as a person and the way he was treated, it wasnt necesarilly because I thought he coukd take us to Europe etc. He made an aweful lot of mistakes I felt, and himself cost us a few points. Yes he was learning but he isnt quite the polished article at thislevel yet. He never really got Rickie in the right positions often enough, in fact I have said a few times I just dont think he has had a great season so far but mainly because we have not played a way that gets the best out of him. Ramirez too, why oh why was he not played in his best position more often ? He is such a player, and Monday showed how good he is when used properly. A couple of games too, Utd and Stoke spring to mind, we didnt need to go defensive yet that is what happened and invited pressure, esp when we were not on top as a defensive unit anyway and Davis was in goal. It was a good start Monday, and I know that you cant tell all from one game but his tactics were spot on, we were working so hard and he seemingly was getting the best out of our two best attacking players in Gaston and Rickie. If he gets time to work on us we will start to look V good. A few transfers too and we could be purring. Thats the other thing too, Poch has a big name for himself in the game, players will come to him where they perhaps wouldnt for Adkins Anyone who comes personally recommended by Balague (sp) and Mourinho is no mug

Well, he could easily have been my MOM last night, my main gripe about him was his distribution which has improved remarkably. He looked so classy last night, never really putting a foot wrong and I noticed was often on hand to cover for Hoovields poor positioning at times and when Clyne was overpowered he was there to mop up. I saw him ably manage to cope with Feliani in the air which is no mean feet either. I personally have thought he was the better of Fonte and Yoshi partnership recently and is improving every week, I just dont see how people dont see it. You dont need to be a unit at the back any more if you have a bit of pace and your positioning is good which is the situation he is in at the moment. Its not as important being a mountain at the back any more, football is becoming quicker and more technical. Long term partnership will be Yoshi and Forren IMO though its slightly undair on Fonte who has stepped up fantastically. For a panic buy Yoshi seriously isnt bad.

Quicker, higher pressing, hunting in packs and more incisive passing. Getting Ramirez on the ball is a plus snd allows Lambert to push into positions that he is dangerous rather thsn dropping deep.

Dissapointed in Gaston ? What exactly did you see to be dissapointed in tonight ? Sometimes he picked the ball up and had little options (only Lambert) ahead of him but that was about it, it should have been the wide men getting up to provide him with options. I imagine that Moyes positively crapped himself by half time snd obviously tried to get someone closer too him. Sorry Crabby btw, just dont agree with you tonight mate either, we looked so much more fluid up top, Rickie didnt drop so deep and so managed to get into the positions he is dangerous in far more often than he did during Adkins tenure, we are looking to get the ball into the box quicker too, resulting in more chances. The main set up is basically the same as Adkins set us up with some minor tweaks. Ramirez, why oh why has he not been playing there since the summer ? He just scared the crsp out of Everton, so so so good. MP has obviously tried to go down the Barca blueprint, try to keep possession and if you lose it work double hard to win it back, it worked first half but we started to run out of steam, more fitness work and better subs required VVV happy tonight

Morgan brilliant, ran his sicks off Ramirez was immense too, shame he ran out of steam as he looks so threatening, Lambert looking like the player we know Quality performance

Brilliant performance, his kicking is at times wayward but his throwing is immense He is big, commanding, strong and good reflexes Im happy
