Saga just seemed so poor for me today, i have missed the past couple of games, he put in a little industry but seemed when it really mattered (Lamberts flick ons and couple of through balls) he was flat footed. The game just passed by him unfortunately, the defence looked for him when ricky was not available but he just has not the pace to make an impact. IMO, Saga is a great box player, but offers little when the chances are not being made, and so i don't think he fits into our tactics. Lallana, on the other hand, has his critics, i can understand that. But the boy is such an enigma, he is not really a striker, not a midfielder and not a winger. But has such a fantastic touch and offers a touch of magic ! But where do you play him ?? The way i see football is that it is all about balance, and so, magical or not, if it is not balanced, he would not play in my system, such as the square pegs for square holes analogy. I'd like to think i have a decent understanding of the game, perhaps i do, perhaps i do not, but that is opinion. Mills balanced the game out for us, Lallana did look better on the right, at least more comfortable, the problem at left mid was that you could see him drifting in field, causing problems defensively and also conjesting the midfield. I think he could do well playing off of Ricky, but you would have to stamp out his tendancy of coming in field to get the ball, which is when you need to ask yourself, for the good of the team should you sacrifice him ?? IMO, i would play him RM and mills LM, with Papa and lambert upfront, but then football is a game of opinions and favourites. The main thing is we won !! But then, how many bad games will we win this season ??

No, the death penalty for high treason (which was hung, drawn and quartered) was last used in 1946. It has since been abolished and is now life imprisonment.
-
Yeah perhaps, Lala did him no favours mind, but then that was expected. He is not a winger. Mills did well when he came on, he delivers a good corner, unlike Lala, although i think AL did do well with his Free kick deliveries. Mills gives us balance, and IMHO every team needs balance.

They were fantastic pens taken by the big man, he caused a few problems today. To the fact that they started to double up on him. Shame that we had nobody that 'read' his flicks and through balls, Saga just let the game play around him unfortunately. Still feel a bit 'dirty' mind, they were never pens.

I hope so, just hope that the lack of english does not hamper him. I think his unpredictability could be a revelation in this league, he does remind me of Kodak (camara) in which i think there will be times you will think to yourself 'what the f are you doing?' Then there will be a moment of excellence. But we will see, he caused problems today, something i have not really seen this season. I just wish Lallana was so direct.
-
Agree. But TBF, the defence looked solid, we never looked in any trouble. Harding was the weak link today when we were under the cosh. But maily that was because lallana let them double up on him. I was comfortable with the back 4 today, for the first time in a long time. I would like to see us put a bid in for trottman, he could be a V good player given the right coaching.

Have to agree with this, had many a coach tell me that they would rather i was caught offside then not involved at all. Shows that you are keen, moving in the right direction and on the defenders shoulders. Many quick players get caught offside. Did you know that Rooney is currently the most caught offside player in the Prem ?? Playing upfront is all about gambling, gamble on the bounce, the offside, a mistake. A gamble is a gamble, but sometimes it pays off, and if that is a goal, it means riches.

I was at the game. TBF he showed a lot of promise, he has pace, unpridictability and is keen to make an impression (havin shots and taking on players) His touch is not great however, shown when he was given the ball from a throw in only to 'control' it to the other team, but then, beattie could control a ball further than most could kick it !!! It's too early to pass utmost judgement guys, IMO he was not teh greatest footballer in the world but has promise, unpredictability and wants to take on and score goals. IMHO, he is the best foil for lambert we have at the club ATM

Anyone any inside info on Murtys Injury?
Smirking_Saint replied to sussexsaint's topic in The Saints
Oh, i forgot to say !!!!! Saw Murty outside the ground today signing autographs. He was on one crutch. I asked him how he was getting on and he said that it will be a week before he looses the crutch and a week after that to start running. I said how long does he think it would be ?? He replied he didn't know it would be up to the surgeon. So basically, i think it could be a longish one. -
No, your not alone, Hammond looks fantastic, but the MF in general is pretty unbalanced, what with Lallana on the left.
-
What a fantastic contribution and great counter arguement. A*
-
He missed a few, won a few, looked a bit tired, gave a few dodgy free kicks away. TBF though, looks pretty solid, will be a lot better when match fit. Best we could hope for, IMO.

Lol, eduardonowski. 1st was massive dive, 2nd i didn't even notice handball, thought james was caught offside !!! Either way i don't really care, 2-0 is 2-0
-
Thought Spiderman put a lot of running in but it just didn't seem to come off for him, he doesn't tackle well, he doesn't really support the strikers well, he just sits and plays the ball around, you can tell he definately has talent, some of his balls were brilliant, but he would then needlessly give the ball away. Saga did a bit of running, but seemed flat footed when someone attempted to play him in behind the defence. He didn't really chase out to the flanks and is just too slow. Of course IMO. Thats why i love football, it's all opinions !!

Well much needed 3 points but 2 very very poor decisions by the referee. Probably the worst we have played this season too. Jaidi looked solid but tired pretty quickly, he also gave away far too many fouls, Trottman had a good game, Thomas puts us in the Sh*t far too often, didn't think Harding had his best game today, he didn't pick up the men enough but then Lallana does not offer anything defensive down the left. Hammond played very well, great battler and is up and down, Shneiderlin, who IMO is only there for his passing ability, could not hit a cows ass today, he was very very poor. Lallana always looks like he can make something happen but lacks defensive awareness and is not happy on his left foot. James battled pretty well. Lambert looked strong, won many flick ons, held the ball up well, does not quite cause enough problems though for me, Saga looked very poor, especially for a supposed international. He just does not seem to read the game very well at the moment. Basically, all we seemed like doing today was a hopeful punt up to Lambert, hoping for flick ons, even when trying to get behind the defence Saga just has no pace. We looked better after the subs came on because it seemed as if we were balanced for once, Mills gave us a left footed option and Papa chased around the back 4 trying to win things, although he didn't look fantastic. Anyways, here is my assessment. Davis - 6 - Dealt with what he had to, didn't really need to do much. Thomas - 6 - Gave the ball away too much, didn't look bad defensively Trottman - 7 - Dominated at the back, struck a good partnership with Jaidi, pointless yellow. Jaidi - 7 - Solid, got stuck in, did give away some pointless fouls. Harding - 6 - Looked ok, struggled when doubled up upon by their right flank. Hammond - 8 - All over the place, great battler, probably should have been booked earlier. Shneiderlin - 5 - Terrible today, terrible with the ball and without it. Put in some running, but is their to make the play...... he didn't James - 6 - Tidy display, nothing spectacular, played best in CM. Lallana - 6 - Promises much, delivered not a lot, defensively lacking, dived for penalty. Lambert - 7 - Played well, 2 great penalties, won the headers when needed. Saga - 4 - Static, game passed him by, he won't make the world cup like this. Subs Mills - 6 - Gave us width and balance. Papa - 6 - Lot of running, at least he had a couple of shots, must have been offside 53 times in 10 minutes. Dunno if he is a footballer or not yet, too early to judge. Wotton - 7 - Can't fault him today, came on, mopped up, sured up.

About 2 weeks ago, and i too would be surprised if they spoke honestly about it, they may do though. By all means go and ask. It happened, and i was shocked. Bloody expensive too

Isn't that the resturant ?? Yeah it might be that one, it was the coffee shop next to the London, opposite the posh restaurant. I don't know the names, i am not down that end of town too often.
-
I don't know what one, it was opposite the posh place, beginning with R. Feel free And no it wasn't the London

lol

I swear to god Oh, and just to let everyone know where i am on the EDL issue, i do not support them, they seem no better then the extremists themselves. It does however, raise serious issues amoungst the views of the populace.

F*ck off pancake, i have no reason to lie, in fact i take offence to that, i am not a J Bizzle type, i am just saying it how it is. If i was going to make something up i could think of something much worse FFS. I try and post reasonable arguements, and i do see both sides, i really do, it is just that it seems to have become such a taboo these days that only one side is reasonably listened to. Telling any other side seems to get you branded a racist or a liar
