There is absolutely no excuse or place for this kind of behaviour. Football or more accurately "team allegiance" is just the vehicle used by these morons. Fighting at any time is pathetic and sad, fighting under the guise of being a football supporter is worse. Of course, people and in particular sports/football fans will always banter and debate and occassionally this will get heated BUT only a certain type of person will fight to sorrt it out....they are not welcome in society let alone St Marys IMHO. As I walked away from the stadium today, there werre a few Yeovil Fans behind me openly slagging "my club" off. Choices..1) IGNORE 2) React angrily and see how it goes from there...3) Acknowledge their points and quip funnily - stuns, silents and calms the situation. IF, I had been a moron or others around them were morons then more fighting would have occurred....instead, a short friendly conversation took place.

Wrong...they all have someone who will look after the business side of player recruitment and retention. They just change the title, CEO, Chairman, DOF, Sporting Director, etc etc. Agree....a lack of "intervention" seems strange but sometimes intervention is not actually what players need to see or hear. A change of "tact" on Pardews "on the run coaching method" (i.e. during performance) showa a good level of flexibility on his part. We do not know the discussions he has with his team...a good, decent coach will do what is best for individuals and a team...sometimes "less intervention" has better results. This clearly didnot work last night BUT his "more intervention" method did not work on Saturday. He needs time from everyone...especially us impatient fans who want success NOW!!! I must admit I was not excited initially by his appointment but everything he say has a freshness and openess about it, coupled with a high level of confidence and contentment in his own ability. The fact he spent time with Alex Fergusson displays a charcter who is always ready to learn and seeks opportunity. He will succeed with us...............lets hope the players do quickly, otherwise it will be an even bigger change of personell than is/has happened.

Dave, I think you are worrying about nothing. When Cortese said the SD will sanction transfers, I interperate that as the SD has the final say on fees, wages, length of contract and whether that fits into the overall budget or not and make the "business decision". AP will make the "football decision" on who he wants, how they set up, preperation, etc......for me no conflict or confusion. I think the set-up will allow AP to devote all his time to the first team and his management team...and the SD will allow NC to devote his tiem to the company as a whole in regard to strategy and planning etc. The fact that the SD is "football savvy" to me means he is likely to be more along the lines of a Peter Kenyon than an Ex manager/player. Chill out and enjoy the next few years and TRUST the new people...I know trusting the owners/directors of our club has been difficult but times have changed.

After so many weeks of reading negative stuff, slit your wrists stuff, build you up let you down stuff, I thought it would be great to have one dedicated thread, where you ONLY PUT A POSITIVE POST UP. Even when I read a negative post on any of the other "good thing" posts, I just give up.....its done me in. So....in order to keep this feel good factor going, can everybody post at least one POSITIVE OR OPTIMISTIC post on here so that I for one can keep the buzz going!!!!!!! Thanks everone for doing so............. Mark :D:D:D:D:D:D

True and I doubt AO is meeting them in there to discuss. I suppose I should have been more specific for those that need it, and say that we have to trust their decision making. Panicking everytime a rumour surfaces about something someone doesnt like is a waste of energy, and directing it towards an executive of the club just smacks of self-importance . IF, something actually happens that does not sit favouravbly with someone, then fair enough...moan all you like on here or in the pub. But that takes us back in time and for once it would be great to read positive, optimistic things on here....at least until the first **** up(which I hope is years away!!!!
-
If Oldknow reads this ever, let alone during these early days and weeks I would be very disappointed. As much as I enjoy this site, using it to guage opinion from your customers is very naive. If AO or anyone else now running our club/business feels the need to geuage opinion to make decisions, from a group of faeless and (mostly) nameless people then they are not in the right job!!!!!

I wouldnt get too concerned with any prices listed anywhere in regard our new manager. The nature of such lists is that form is virtually irrelevant and people bet with their heads/hearts or on pure speculation. This vreates a very instable market and huge fluctuations, when usually no-one knows much. By the time they do, the book will have closed!!!Bookies hardly ever lose on these markets.
-
Simply not true. The initial prices of any "book" are based on the knowledge an opinion of the bookmaker (and sometimes geographical factors). Prices will change as money is bet and significant changes can happen when small amounts of money go on large prices, and particularly when the bookmaker hasnt taken enough on the book. The bookmaker works to an "overound percentage" which usually varies between 105 and 120%. This indicates the likely profit based on equal stakes. I have never seen a 200-1 shot gambled down to 12-1!!!

Feedback from 2 Billionaires about buying Saints...
MarkSFC replied to bigdavewatson's topic in The Saints
I suspect that MLT will be Chairman of the Football Club and responsible for that part of the business. TL or A.N. Other will be CEO for the business. -

MarkSFC replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
I'm so trying not to get excited. Possibly one of the best childhood memories when he signed and as for "that goal" I was standing on the Milton. Glory days that may never return but the next few years COULd be as exciting for different reasons!!!! -
No mention of sueing TheSun for libel/slander (whichever one it is !!) Straight up denial and specific to each person mentioned in The Suns' report suggests guilt to me. Lets hope it goes very very sour for our neighbours!! That, and a new legit owner for us....good times ahead!!

The press release by Mark Fry and David Hudson (joint Administrators) said that an undisclosed non-refundable deposit had been paid Who cares what that is, the employees got paid and their exclusivity period began. Financial due dilegence has already taken place, (so this deposit is NOT to look at the books), but now LEGAL due dilegence is taking place, as I understand things, this is to make sure that the assets being bought, ground, land employees, etc are owned by who they are supposed to be. Why oh why is there this constant negativity around this potential deal??? If it does fall through, I hope all those who doubted it have immense satisfaction "in telling us so"!!!! Idiots!!! I for one love the silence and the secrecy for one reason only, it means to me that they are professional people conducting themselves in a professional manner, and also, are not on the face of it "egotists in it for the koudos and limelight". It makes a fantastic change!!! Sure, I am keen to know who our mystery buyer is, but if it takes till 1159pm on the twenty-first day, then thats fine with me!!

A proper post!...except at £200 ST's we should expect to sell out really!! More realistic price is 300-350 unless they build in some two-year ticket scheme, which I think would be good.

I think you may have understood my points. Until the transaction of converting SLH into "newcompany Ltd", (and we do not know if thats happened yet) technically the SLH shares exist, despite their intrinsic worthlessness and non-trading status. My point therefore is that the Trust CAN still exist until such point as "its memebers shares" are no longer in existance. You are talking in the present (particularly your OP) in regard to the fact that we are already a limited company. Until then, I would imagine also that legally the Trust HAS to exist. Once the takeover IS complete and the shares are sold and delisted then hopefully NI will do the decent thing and disband the trust...and depending on its funds either give them to a charity or do something for its memebers!!! Bet you then that 838 or whatever it is make themselves known!! By the way, I have absolutely nothing to do with the Trust and never have!! I want to see a new fans group. HTH!!!

Im summising here but would imagine that SLH shares still "technically" exist even if they aren't tradable and effectively worthless. So, from that point of view the Trust can still exist in the form of proxy share-holdings. NI once told me though that members of the trust could be so even though they do not own shares...not sure the point of that but may indicate that it may carry on...I hope not though!! It would be interesting to know the legality of the trust once the shares wiped oout in the process of SLH PLC to "NEW OWNER LTD". Does anyone KNOW?

I sincerely hope that Leon Crouch is nothing to do with the new board(s). This is not because of his inability to communicate effectively in the media, nor is it anything to do with his previous boardroom scufffles (for want of a better word/phrase). And not discounting his obvious love and passion for Saints, or his "bankrolling" of the club for a while. He certainly put money in and full credit must go to him for that, but, unless I've missed something in the press or on here etc. it was quoted that he would be servicing the May payroll for the club, but then they weren't paid until the Pinnacle bid paid their deposit. So, overall, and I base my opinion on everything I have heard him say in the media, and from the few times I have spoken with him, I hope that he has nothing to do with the club other than being a supporter in the truest sense of the word, by buying his season ticket or Corporate Box. The ONLY people (at boardroom level) should be the new owner and HIS people who have never served on any of our boards before. This is a chance for a new beginning in every sense of the word. I do hope that MLT IS our new football club chairman. He is probably the only talisman capale of uniting an increasingly fractious fanbase and he is extremely media savvy. He will restore some of the missing pride in our club. It will be refreshing to support my club with renewed faith that we have a good mix of people who all want the same things. I would also welcome someone like Nick Holmes into the club. Undisputedly a loyal person who in tandem with MLT could help to install that trait from top to bottom. Sure, players will come and go in this era, more so than in theirs perhaps, but something this club needs, possiblbly even more than immediate success is stability. Lets hope that the new owner is definitely in it for the medium to long haul and creates a club we can ALL be proud to support again!!!

The media vs Nick Illingsworth & Richard Chorley
MarkSFC replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
This thread just about justifies what I have thought for a very long time. Enough is enough of SISA and The Saints Trust "representing all Saints Fans" and there should be a new OFFICIAL SUPPORTERS association/club/group/ etc. This should be done with the backing of Southampton Football CLub and be the only official group other than "geographical" groups, like London Saints, Northern Saints, Away Saints or whatever, who should be under the umbrella of the new official group - whatever that may be called. It should run for the benefit of fans and the community of Southampton perhaps run on the lines of a foundation. It would be great to see the club claw back its flagging reputation for running the best soccer schools and get OUR youngsters to attend our schemes rather than Chelsea's and even The Skates. Sorry, gone off topic a little but I think it would be great for a saints supporters to group to be involved in supporting this sort of activity. I believe it would help to build support of Saints and keep the quality of our academy up for the future. Maybe, if the new owner and his board are littered with former players, then maybe they should make Ian Juryeff one of the first signings. To sum up, we need a strong united and dynamic Supporters Group that will be highly regarded by other teams fans. Any ideas or nominees welcome!!! -
It pains me to say mate, I agree with you!!! See you tomorrow...whats the plan if its raining???!!!!

Probably but then Lord "smug f*****" Mal-whiney wont be involved
