You might want consider that bombs, by their nature, tend to do these things. Unfortunately I've seen the consequences of a few of them in Pakistan. Their effects seem pretty random - people have been stood close to them and walked away; others standing next to them have been cut in half. Blast waves radiate out and tend to follow the line of least resistance, like a tidal wave.
