  1. I guess we would have to do that without any goalkeepers, otherwise KD et al will get used to defending a smaller net and get caught out in the real match
  2. ....but I thought your view was "Survival my arse" http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=434642&postcount=1
  3. Yeah right - nice try saint_typo :-)
  4. I guess your tongue is firmly in your cheek. I always thought that the hatred shown by some Pompey fans towards all things red and white was an indication of bitterness, and that Saints fans had the class to rise above all that with their indifference.
  5. I hope you are right.
  6. That one didn't
  7. Really? I admire your confidence. If we are still in the bottom four at Christmas and several points adrift (which is not out of the question) then I think relegation is very possible. The psychological burden will be getting quite heavy by then.
  8. a sentence without any punctuation, using the words "full stop". That mate me titter - sad muppet that I am.
  9. I still think the answer is "none"
  10. I can't see any reasons for gloating at all. They have a long way to fall (or vice-versa) before it will be seen as anything other than petty small-mindedness. You can imagine what we'd be thinking if the positions were reversed. IMHO we have to be at least in the same division before we can glean any comfort from their misfortune compared to ours (if you can be bothered, that is).
  11. Whilst true, this is easier said than done. In fact, it is so difficult that usually only the top level teams have any chance of doing it. You can look at the Arsenal's and Man Utd's and Barcelona's of the world and see examples of long periods of keep-ball - but you will rarely see that happening in League 1. The teams/players are not of a standard to be able to do it, regardless of the opposition. Saints are no different. They have L1 standard players and therefore are unlikely to be able to play keep-ball for long periods of time in the hurly-burly of an L1 football match....IMHO of course.
  12. It was also ignorant of me to suggest that you were ignorant. Sorry.
  13. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/moot_point
  14. Sorry - but with an OP like that you are gonna get a lot of stick. I imagine the training sessions just involve them sitting around discussing what cars they like and stuff like that....stuff all that "learning what a football looks like" nonsense.
  15. So being 3-0 up represents a tight game? - or losing 4-3 after being 3-0 is an inherent problem? Which point are you making?
  16. Robbed us of the first penalty (foul on Mellis), robbed us of Saga's "goal", robbed us when Saga clean through...blah blah. Normal post match manager rhetoric while emotions are still high IMHO. He is not unique in that. Ferguson and Wenger have made successful careers out of it. "if we had played well enough, and scored enough, we should be able to overcome the odd mistake by the ref." - can't argue with that, but I am not going to find fault in the managers reaction after such a galling end to the match when we are trying to get that first win done and dusted. In other words, I don't think his words are going to adversely impact the mentality of the team. They fought tooth and nail for that win and felt robbed at the end. Who wouldn't (justified of not).
  17. Maybe he was "fuming at the ref" for a whole host of reasons - not just the penalty. When I heard him interviewed he said that the ref was poor for both teams, so the aforementioned "fuming" was probably because the referee was sub-standard throughout. That is a lot different to "blaming the result on the ref" IMHO. As an aside, I though our penalty was just as dubious. It was just the timing of ours that made it seem worse.
  18. When Man City were taken over their initial results were dire. QPRs were pretty unspectacular too. Notts County haven't made any big signings, their big money acquisitions are a DoF and a CB who has yet to play - so I would hazard a guess that their good start is down to the shrewdness of Ian McParland, both last year and this Summer. He has had some time to get it right, as has Mark Hughes. AP has had very little time so far.
  19. I knew I would regret clicking on it.....I have no idea what this thread is supposed to be about
  20. OK - it wasn't a joke....but I think I need to cut you some slack because from that post I can tell you are only about 15 years old.
  21. That was a joke - right? Being in the bottom four is worrying, but what is having a billionaire owner got to do with it? He became a billionaire by being a shrewd businessman, not by pulling football results out of a hat like rabbits. He has employed what he believes if the right team, and it hasn't quite gone as well as we hoped - so far. Football is a fickle business, that is why QPR are not winning the Premier League at the moment.
  22. Well I am as sick as the next man. I walked away from the radio (PC actually) in injury time because I couldn't bear it. Came back when I thought it was over only to catch the last 15 seconds. I am sure I waited 3 minutes?! But reading the "Back from the game" thread does cheer me up a little. At times like this you have to take the crumbs of comfort when you can. We all have to deal with our disappointment somehow. I get all bad tempered with the innocents around me, and some post rants about fitness, not good enough, blah blah....each to his own I suppose. I am off for a curry and a few glasses of vino ;-)
  23. ....and a bloody long one. Is there a direct flight to Japan from Stockport?
  24. The people who went to the game seem to think differently on the whole (or are you going to tell me you were there too?)
  25. When I saw the thread title I had to have a looksee.....but I misread it. I thought it said "Surving my arse..." and I thought TDD was telling us all what to do to survive if he dropped his guts while in our general vicinity. I am very disappointed
