Isn't that just matter of the publication timing though? As I said, I have only been looking since April so I may well have missed a good example - but in my experience so far the "momentous" bombshells are always lifted from elsewhere and put here. I still enjoy the content on here though. Speculative news is better than no news.

That is a myth perpetuated by posters on here. Sure, they lift pieces of interesting information from here regarding speculation and the like, but when it comes to cast iron facts (like Pinnacle pulling out, or Liebherr completing the deal and in all likelihood the new manager being announced) it will be posted here by somebody after they have read it in the Echo or on SSN or on the OS - and that is a fact ;-)

Is this a competition to see who can post the most boring, pointless piece of information imaginable?

I've only been on this site since April, but in my experience so far (in what has been quite a turbulent time) the only pieces of information that have proved to be 100% correct have only arrived on this site AFTER it has appeared on SSN, the Echo or the OS. The main interest of this site is speculation, argument/debate - and the publication of facts after they have appeared elsewhere (which is useful for those that don't have readily available access to the other forms of info).

Maybe a few hours after the long run - certainly not in the middle of it.

Don't be a silly billy. We are a League 1 team playing a top Dutch team, so nobody is expecting anything other than a defeat. Shamrock Rovers are playing Real Madrid and I bet their fans aren't going to stay at home because they are going to get beaten. It is a time to celebrate a new beginning, just like we did with the new Stadium (when we lost 4-3 to Espanyol. I think we could have easily been 5-0 down in that game before they brought their defense off to give us a chance :-) )
