£37 a game is a lot. I think we're at the point where fans won't pay. If a standard renewal at SFC gets to £700 it'll be a pretty tragic day.
-
£600 renewal limit for me. £31.58 per game. More than that I'll join a decent golf club. Can't see them changing from this season TBH. People are just about fed up with the cost of football and I can't justify costs around £35/£40 a game, I'd start picking and choosing as opposed to a season ticket I reckon.

How many points needed for "safety"?
rshephard3 replied to anothersaintinsouthsea's topic in The Saints
Just did predictor and had it very tight on teams around 38 points. Actually had us staying up on 39 points with someone dropping on goal difference with 38. It predicted a cracking last day of the season. -
If Sturridge, Welbeck or Carroll played for SFC they'd never have been in an England squad between them. There is no excuse for managers not to pick the top scoring English forward but ala Darren Bent at Charlton, James Beattie at Saints etc it doesn't happen. It's a bit embarrassing for the managers that they are swayed so much by who counts as a "big name" or a "fashionable choice" but that's life. We'd rather he wasn't distracted before the weekend anyway.

When is Ramirez going to start justifying his price-tag?
rshephard3 replied to Sheaf Saint's topic in The Saints
The chairman doesn't want digging in and consolidating. He wants fast flowing attacking football to challenge the best teams in the league. Regardless of that, I would add that 'complete waste of money' is harsh. I expect him to start playing to his price tag from the start of next season. It's not like Lambert of Rodriguez who have dug in playing English football their whole lives. The tempo and frantic nature of football in England is totally different to other leagues (possibly barring bundesliga). It seems to especially take a bit of time for South American players to settle into the style of football expected of them but he will get there. Needs to get physically stronger and realise how little time he will ever have on the ball IMO. -
Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions
rshephard3 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Lets also not forget that, in changing managers, we signalled our intent to not accept draws from a winning position away at Wigan and scrapping it out at the bottom. Nigel was doing a damn fine job at that. What is expected is to finish in the top half and push for Europe next season. This is not my expectation but that of the chairman. Despite this being another point towards safety for the rational minded among us, in the overall context of the vision of the club over the next few years, it isn't good enough to play well without winning. Saints have always been good at that. There are winning expectations at the top of the club these days. -
Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions
rshephard3 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
This was one of our easiest games between now and the end of the season. Teams at the bottom are starting to be very competitive barring QPR. Worried and looking down rather than up. Lord I hope we don't regret this silly manager nonsense. -
Superb

Agree sir

A Man Utd mate at work reckons Ronaldo7.net is as good as any free streams he's seen. If you can bare to type that on your laptop!

If we were looking to buy, SRL, Jason and Morgan now?
rshephard3 replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
Morgan is the one worth proper cash. £12mill now IMHO. Handles himself against everyone. Bossed things at Stamford Bridge the other day. -
This. Hazard is such an idiot for doing that it's quite unreal. Chelsea look so mediocre this season.
-
Propaganda central. If a steward mentions it tonight they'll wake up with a horses head in their bed in the morning. Ridiculous.
-
This. I am firmly in agreement.

PICTURE: Nigel Adkins' leaving message to Saints squad
rshephard3 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I agree with this. He is a role model. I, like many on here I'm sure, have a tendancy to get a little downbeat and grumpy sometimes. I truly see Adkins as the epitomy of how to straighten your back, pull yourself together and see the positivity in everything. I really really hope he moves onto better things in the future. He is a talented rational hard working man and it's sad not to have him as manager anymore. When Alex Ferguson is baffled as to a football decision you know it must be questionable at best! -
What is the plan? How much further can we go? Adkins took us from the relegation zone in League 1 and was moving up the table in the premiership. What is the overall plan? Europa League? Champions League? If so we don't need the odd £50,000 a week 12 million Ramirez do we? We need about £150million in squad investment and a large new spanking stadium. When Pardew was sacked we were somewhat of a sleeping giant and Adkins has not been able to show his potential with us. Basically how big can we be? If you sack Adkins after spending £100million on superstars I understand but he spend what was required to build a squad that was looking in good shape to stay up. In my lifetime a hard working Saints team that's good enough to hold its own in the top league is something to be truly proud of, not something to sack a manager over. When we qualify for the 2014/15 Champions League and beat Barca in a 100,000 seat stadium in Eastleigh with a shopping centre and 6 hotels attached to it I will eat my words. All of them.
-
It's too easy to say the writings been on the wall in hindsight. The writing was on the wall to come from 2 down at Chelsea. Oh I was right. If someone as successful in their job as Adkins gets sacked I do fear for the sanity of the masses in football!
-
It's not pragmatic to so blindly follow Saints to the extent you can't see this as a strange decision. And to talk about the money Adkins will receive totally misses the point. Embarrassingly so.
-
How has he reached his level? Where is his level and how do you know? One of the brightest most successful young managers in the English game IMO and hope he goes to find another club who appreciates and embraces his success. He was showing all the signs of keeping a team in the prem after 2 successive promotions, what did you expect? A challenge for the title maybe?

Chelsea 2 Saints 2 - Post Match Celebrations & MotM
rshephard3 replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Morgan. Just Morgan. Best midfielder on the pitch last night. What a man. He's worth some serious pounds after his season so far. -
Is anyone else going to try to (stupidly!) battle the traffic to within a few miles of the ground tonight? If so any suggestions for car parks/unrestricted street parking?

Villa 0 v Saints 1 post match chat & MotM
rshephard3 replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
JRod, well done. More like it today and against Chelsea. He's growing into things and working harder than he did when he first came. He is useful but needs time. -
Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
rshephard3 replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
If 19 other teams in the league have a go at it against you then you're a mug not to have a go yourself. It can't be applauded but it's part of the prem and here to stay. -
It seems that way. Which is mental. He's undeniably a good finisher and being relegated would cost near on £60million. Their squad misses out on 2 things he brings which is a bit of class and some experience.
