I was Born and Bred in Southampton and neither of my Parents were Football supporters, but when we reached the 1976 FA Cup Final my Mum was quite excited because it was Southampton, the place where she grew up and was pleased to see her home town team on the TV in front of the Nation. I was only six at the time and remember my Mum ironing while the game was on TV and cheering them on and encouraging me to do the same and be proud as it was 'our' team. After we Won she also took me to the streets for the home coming to see the players showing off the trophy on the open top bus... my very earliest memories of becoming a Saints fan, I've been a Saints Fan ever since and have never wavered, although it wasn't until '85 I went to The Dell to see a match live for the first time. Apart from a move away for several months a few years ago before I returned back home to the South I have probably been to at least 75% of home matches since '85 either as a Member getting matchday tickets or as a Season Ticket holder. I always have been and always will be a Saints supporter and it all started with thanks to my Mum. Although she started my interest and was not really a football supporter herself I took her to her first live game at St Marys a few years ago and she loved it. She now attends games when she can, always looks for Saints results, reads latest news, watches highlights, and can also hold her own in banter with a couple of Pompey supporting fans where she works. After getting me hooked at a young age from the 76 Cup Final onwards I wonder now what took her so long to catch up!

Earlier tonight a Pompey Supporting mate dropped his laptop off at mine to undo and fix a few problems he had with it. I would like to return it decorated with a nice new 'Saints' Desktop wallpaper and Screen saver theme. I've looked for a few images on the web but not really found anything good enough, found an image of the Cartoon Saints Fan p**sing on a Pompey shirt but it's too small and resolution is too blurry when expanded. Can anyone help out with any Desktop images the same, similar... better, and portraying the fun side of our rivalry please?

Did we miss something?

Often have takeaway on a Saturday night but I have such a poor appetite so usually only manage half of it. On Sunday I usually cook a small roast for the Mrs and I and when Monday comes around, first day back at work and all that and wanting an easy evening I usually finish my takeaway from Saturday while the Mrs has a proper meal at work with a snack for the evening. Most have rice being either Chinese or Indian and I've always been ok 48 hrs later, always chilled though in the fridge once cooled slightly after dishing up, never been ill yet and have always been almost as tasty as when fresh.

Well groomed, Business woman looking type (So possibly successful and single?). Fortunately, there was nothing on the car to suggest there was a charge for looking! Used to see her in the car on several occasions on the way to work along the M27 in the mornings, I haven't seen the car for a little while now but I'm sure there are others on here who must have seen the car or may know who she is?

There is a woman (looks to be in her late 30's, early 40's) who drives a Mercedes SEC convertable that I've seen on the M27 between Park gate and Hedge End. Not seen her recently but her Number Plate is PUS 5Y. I cannot be the only forum member on here that has seen her in that car with that number plate!

Considering the position that modern football players are in and on a pedestal that many fans look up to it can be easy to overlook that they are only human. It is saddening to see a player to sucumb at such a young age in these circumstances, as it was recently when Daniel Jarque and Marc-Vivien Foe died of natural causes at a young age too.

When visiting my stepsons a couple of weeks ago I took them to see MK Dons against Bristol Rovers, they may have won 2-1 but I didn't see anything that we should be concerned about should we get them away if we beat Charlton. Neither side commanded the game, and a lot of wayward passing in midfield didn't give either side many chances in the final third, If anything they looked worse than they did against us (Although I was often distracted by checking scores at Brisbane Rd every five minutes) along with a poor and very quiet home support. Was nice to read their Matchday programme and listen to their fans comments of their defeat to Saints the week before with a smile to myself while amongst them all the week after. (Heard lots of good comments about us ) They do have quite a decent stadium though with a huge circular concourse that overlooks the pitch, the cushioned seats with a decent amount of legroom are a nice touch too.

Saw that earlier too, rewound because I thought he couldn't possibly be brushing his teeth at a match, then saw clearly he was! Maybe he was attempting to get on Soccer AMs' 'Third Eye' perhaps?

Englishman, Irishman and a Scottsman walk into a bar... Landlord looks at them and says "What's this, a joke?"

If it is, I wonder how many emails he gets through before addressing ones of the day to day business of SFC... or he must have a complicated filter.

But will she be back if it doesn't work out in Kilburn due to your kind hospitality over the last few days when she needed it? *Tip toes quietly back out of the thread*:-# -
Following on from posts in the Southampton Nostalgia Topic in The Lounge and without wanting to digress the thread as I almost did... there were a few programs that I used to watch when I was younger, and although I didn’t always used to watch them I’ve always remembered them… Sinbad and his Magic Belt D1ck Barton: Special Agent The Double Deckers ...And one of my old favourites… Sapphire and Steel Would like to see what other programs you have all liked in the past that others of us may have forgotten over the years

I was happy to see to the "Friends Provident" naming of our stadium dropped. It's far better seeing SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB - ST MARY'S STADIUM in big red letters on the front of the Main Itchen Stand rather than as yet another advertising outlet for the sponsor and our stadium name becoming secondary to it.

How about "D1ck Barton, Special Agent" each episode was on for around 2-3 minutes serialised over a week at teatime in the 70's, I recall it was on after "Sinbad the Sailor and his magic belt" cartoon. Sinbad was quite weedy but when he pulled in his belt buckle in a flash of lightning he would grow muscles to beat up the bad guys.

I remember that program, It's theme tune started with a doorbell ringing, the "ding dong" type. When I was off school with a bug on occasions this was possibly the worst daytime TV when there was already very little on. Wasn't it one of the first scheduled programs of the day after "TV for Schools and Colleges" finished? unless my Mum turned it over from ITV to BBC as they were the only two channels on at that time of day back then too. I was driving around Windover roundabout at Bursledon today and remembered when there used to be a motel where Tesco is now. It was set back a little off the road and there used a to be a low white fence and fir trees surrounding it. When I was little I thought it was where they filmed the "Crossroads" program my Mum used to watch at teatime... which of course it wasn't. That was also several years before the M27 existed and Upper Northam Drive at Thornhill roundabout used to be the main road into Hedge End when it was almost a small village. Yet another long walk back to Thornhill from time to time when my Mum fancied a change to shopping in Bitterne.
