Not really, the money on offer wouldn't make or break anything for us. Poor timing for this is my biggest frustration. Only two considerations - Lambert has some sort of buy out clause for Liverpool come in for him (understandable); We're trying to get all the bad news out the way before a new manager arrives.

Not just that, but they get far too attached to players that are just working through a career. All the "Rickie" this and that and "I saw Luke in Nandos", "I wonder how Adz feels about all this" it's s**te, players and managers will come and go, if they get an offer they'll usually go for it unfortunately.

Was my thought as well. He's been an absolute legend for us, but not sure how much they'll get out of him over the next couple of years.

Exactly. It wouldn't surprise me if they're getting this bit of bad news out the way now, Krueger takes and deflects all the flak, then a new guy is able to walk in with a cleaner slate. Bit optimistic, but would make sense in a way.

Ha, cheers! Just the timing of this I find more weird than anything, trying to work out why we'll let it be rushed through now and not at least after the world cup.

Just thinking aloud here, but could it be that we've agreed to the strange timing of this on the basis that we've got the agreement of whoever our new manager is likely to be, but don't want to have "the sale of an icon/talisman" on his watch, so getting the s**te out the way, before the new chap can arrive with a clean slate. Probably bulls**t, but just an idea.

How much are Liverpool prepared to pay for Lambert? Would be gutted if he goes before the World Cup, but do think he's a bit of an odd target for them to sink a sizeable sum of money for.

How has our kit and sponsor changed from last season to this coming one? I agree with your other point though, Cortese was storing up problems for the club by over-promising an ambition to players and managers that he couldn't deliver against.
