  1. But if Saints decide to go through with the deal, we might want it done and dusted so we can plan accordingly, rather than dragging on towards the end of the transfer window.
  2. I don't think anyone ever laughed at the idea of getting back into the Premier League in 5 years or using half a team of academy products - it was the Champions League aspirations attached to it that got people rightly chuckling.
  3. But what "debt"? Are you saying that our outgoings next season are currently higher than our income? By how much? I'd like MP to sign a new contract, but it's not like his current one is going to run out tomorrow, yes it would be good for the club, but who knows the reason for the delay? You think the club are simply dragging their feet over it? And what else are they dragging their feet over apart from MP's contract?
  4. Yes, I know how assists work, thanks.
  5. Service what debt? What are they dragging their heels over?
  6. They attack, their return for this season suggests one wouldn't want to rely on them in out and out attacking roles.
  7. How is it completely disproportionate? How much did we spend on Lovren? How much did Wanyama cost? It's not beyond the realms of possibility that after selling our left back for £30m we spend 75% of what we spent on a Centre Back a year ago on a Left Back replacement is it.
  8. How many deals have been done to replace a £30m left back? If. Shaw does go for £30m, I fully expect to spend £5m+ on a replacement.
  9. How many goals or assists have the three players contributed this season?
  10. No it isn't, don't be ridiculous
  11. That's not really an identity as such. If one of the big 4 or 5 clubs come knocking with huge money it will always be very tough for any club to hold onto the player.
  12. In other words Peach doesn't have a clue.
  13. If the link from the Manchester journalist is to be believed Shaw wants it sorted either way before then, which is understandable sort of.
  14. Selling a player isn't the end of the world. It happens to all teams at some time or other. If we're a well managed club the principles that served us well will continue to do so.
  15. Bizarre ideas like that aren't particularly new to me, see them popping up on here now and again.
  16. Your bizarre proposal that Chambers will be some kind of left-back replacement.
  17. Ok, so you weren't being serious, apologies.
  18. We can do f**k all about most things to do with our team, doesn't stop fans worrying or speculating about them. Don't think Targett is close to Shaw's level yet, not even got a kick in any of our cup games this season has he?
  19. When has Chambers done a decent job at left back?
  20. You think 18 year old left backs of Shaw's quality are a "dime a dozen"? I agree that it's notthe end of the world if we got a huge amount ofmoney and reinvest it well, but lets not pretend he wouldn't be a loss.
  21. I don't think anyone will take your comments on this seriously, you thought our support was "very loud", while sat comfortably in the Aston Villa seats.
  22. How is this "quite likely"? If Glasgow Saint or Barry Sanchez started this thread you'd be giving them plenty of stick.
  23. He's not suggesting Shaw would s**t himself though - just making the fair point that there is merit in having people who have experienced a major tournament with all the hassle that goes with it. I think Shaw will just edge it, but I could understand if Hodgson goes for Cole.
  24. So you think we play with a "false 9" similar to Barcelona at times, interesting.
  25. The point is, we would all like a top striker, they're not easy to source are they. Look at Chelsea are struggling in that regard.
