DM: Mauricio Pochettino has failed this season
Sour Mash replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
No I don't, not sure where I've suggested they do either? Do you think Saints were 100% focused on the Sunderland FA Cup game? -
That's part of what I mean by the "process". How well we manage them leaving, negotiate the right price, reinvest the money well, done at the right times. Part of the problem with that is I'm not overly enamoured with our foreign scouting, and that is really somewhere a club our size needs to step up and improve. I've got no doubt we will bring in new players, the Osvaldo and Rodriguez situations guarantee that as a minimum. We'll all be disappointed if a key player leaves, but things need to be kept in context, it doesn't have to be the end of the club and football as we know it.

If we sell a couple of players for massive money, that's not the end of the world, all clubs do it at times. It's how the process is managed that is important.

Do you honestly think we were 100% focused on the game? MP couldn't even bother to do a minute of media work for the whole game. -
Don't know why we offer 2 season tickets with every job, must be a few not used up.
-
But they're able to offer cheap tickets because so many buy the megastore tatt, plus get in the ground an hour early and eat and drink all game. If people didn't than they wouldn't be able to compete at the level they do.

That proves my point. -

But the club should have already known about the lack of depth in the squad, we weren't anywhere near strong enough to undertake that kind of mad run that would see us qualify for Europe - getting to Wembley via the FA Cup was a possibility though, based on the need to just win a couple of games. -

No, you're missing the point. We should have tried our best to win the Sunderland cup game, do you not agree? -

But the point is for a mid-table Premier League side, with nothing to play for in the league, surely the FA CUp should become our priority? -
Agreed, bit surprised we didn't just freeze prices for a good bit of PR, but on the whole it's not a horrific price increase - Premier League football is stupidly expensive. Anyone know how our increase compares to other PL clubs? I'd imagine our CAT A game prices are going to go up quite a bit based on them selling out so quickly and easily.

You post this, then criticise others for being WUM?
-
You have a really weird, myopic view on Lambert, it comes over as strange. No-one is suggesting he is the greatest striker the world has ever seen or that he's going to continue to lead the line for us forever, but if you can't see how much he's done for us and still does for the team then I'm at a loss. As others have already stated, his stats alone this season are very impressive.

Yeah, Tower Hamlets hasn't became a Muslim area at all has it? -
Sounds like Shaw is happy here, for the time being at least. A year or two down the line might be a bit different though. My only real concern is Schneiderlin, he's ambitious, wants interntaional and european football and would tempt plenty of other clubs, would be very hard to replace as well.

Based on it being such an "Islamic" area I guess, not a completely unreasonable assumption to make. -

What a sad state of affairs this country has fallen into. -
An Evening with Guillem Balague - Special Guest Jesus Perez

Is that what he actually said? Can't believe they'd be so open. -
I think Guly will stay. Versatile, popular character within the squad, cheap and flexible squad member and won't get too many better offers.
-
Easily overcome? Not easy, that's part of the problem! But yes, that's one of the reasons it's harder for us to build the right kind of squad than those playing in Europe.
-
What exactly did he say? Not overly surprising that they look at it that way, but surprised he was so candid. Shows how hard it hard it is for us to build a squad, very few decent players will want to sit on our bench for half a season. What else did Perez mention?
-
Why the mad rush for these?
-
Or another reason, not yet thought of or posted by any of us.
-
He's not going to say "I'm going as I don't want to be on the bench every week at Saints".
-
I don't really buy the 'wanted to be closer to home' line, how much closer did he need to be than what he could manage playing for us?
