Chelsea 2 Saints 2 - Post Match Celebrations & MotM
Sour Mash replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Funny old night, just on the train home after a couple of pints. First half we offered little, and Chelsea picked us off for ease for two fairly soft goals. Everyone I spoke to at half-time agreed we'd take 2-0 right now. We got Adkins tactics of staying in the game and then going for it with what we've got on the bench later on, but at 2-0, we thought that was it. 2nd half we had a right old go, even before Lambert came on, but he did make a difference and showed how much he's still got on Rodriguez. Cracking 20mins of play, we could have possibly pushed on and got a third, but an excellent effort to see out the game, thought Yoshida was very good. Ramirez still frustrates me, one moment of absolute genius, but gave the ball away and a couple of soft free kicks were unnecessary. Support good and loud, but why don't we get behind the players out there playing? Bods around me screaming at Guly when he's doing his best against the Champions of Europe, but then constantly singing the Gaston Ramirez song when he wasn't even playing. We had 11 lads out there grafting, get behind them! Regardless, f******g great night. Up the Saints! -
All the tickets the club have been selling have been for pick-up at Stamford Bridge tonight - give Saints a call and I'm sure they can sell you one for collection at the ground this evening.

Who we've been linked with for January thread...

Seba Fernandes on loan from Malaga according to James Nursey of the Mirror. Uruguayan striker. -
Why isn't this a sticky? He's pretty much as good as signed and it's all over the media?

Funny as f**k!

Pubs in London showing Saints v Chelsea...
Sour Mash replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Never been in there myself, just heard of people watching 3pm Saturday kick offs in there, so assumed they might show tomorrow's match. -
Man City v QPR last game of last season? Think there must be a fair few to be honest.

Pubs in London showing Saints v Chelsea...

Not tried them, but might be worth calling the Sports Cafe in Haymarket if you want somewhere Central. -
The Winston or the Royal Oak should both show it.

Do many people actually complain about Saints not going public on our transfer targets? I don't think many people would expect us to. Anyway, this example shows that regardless of what publicity is put out there, other clubs will usually find out what's going on through the various networks of agents etc. I doubt they have somone searching twitter for news on potentially available players.
-
To be honest, it doesn't appear that Liverpool were all that bothered by him, hence the fact they asked him for a trial. They're better set-up in terms of Centre Backs than us.
-
Knew they'd be one that I'd forgotten - point still stands though - £3.5m/4m is a high amount for a player from that League.
-
Not really a "snip" from the Norweigan leagues though is it? Must be one of the most expensive signings ever from that league?
-
Sounds like we've probably out-bid most other clubs anyway.
-
Quite. Forgot to switch log-ins as I was going along.
-
QPR will be poking their nose in and throwing money at any half-decent player looking to move this transfer window, exactly what you'd expect from their set-up to be fair.
-
It's clearly not still 50/50 is it?
-
Appears he did play in those games, so a good bit of experience there.
-
Although having said that, Molde's recent run of European games against fairly decent quality opposition would have been good prep for the Premier League. Anyone know if he played in all of those games?
-
Sort of agree on this. Another player with obvious potential for the future, but the jump for a young player, particulalrly a CB to go from the Norweigan League to the Prem is absolutely massive in pretty much every way. Huge jump in quality, pace of the game, pressure, crowds etc.
-
Looks pretty clear he's coming to us.
-
Can't see Fonte or Yoshida being happy stuck on the bench every week with an occasional run out for the Under-21s if they're really lucky.
-
If he is a decent quality improvement on what we currently have at CB,then £4m is definitely value for money.
-
Fair enough, just can't see football clubs changing their prices significantly as a result of any kind of lobbying. It would probably get a couple of token gesture price freezes until the bandwagon moved onto something else and the prices went back to market-rate.
-
He doesn't really sound like an improvement on what we've currently got?
