Was just about to make the same point. Sounds ridiculous. Same goes for using player's and manager's first names.
-
Pretty sure it wasn't a club official, wasn't it some sort of agent or journo ?
-
What did you think of him in the games against us last season?
-
Saw a couple of birds doing a topless photo shoot in a park when I was in Ukraine, so fingers crossed.
-
No. I see no reason why Sharp will play more than Lambert or score more than him. Lambert is a currently our best player and will therefore start most games and score more goals than any other player.
-
No-one is saying it is a rule.

Have been in the St Pauli club shop with Celtic shirts on sale next to Che Guevera flags, make of that what you will. All a load of confused rubbish really.

That's not being a "nazi apologist" though, so you're wrong there. Some of the "salutes" certainly weren't clear and as has been agreed by many on here, it's a fine line in European football support between the "Seig Heil" and the "fist pump", pointing that out certainly doesn't make someone a Nazi Apologist and if you think it does you should consult a dictionary. The BBC hasn't shown it is a distinct possibility at all, they've just shown the worst of what happens at certain games over there. The vast, vast majority of ultras won't even be at the games and the handful that will be will only be attending games involving their countries. About 75% of countries in Europe can be pretty dodgy for watching one's club if you're in the wrong time/place or don't use a bit of common sense. As asked before, can we we have a list of countries that this forum feels are "acceptable" for hosting major tournaments?
-
Right, so you can't point out any actual "Nazi Apologist" posts either. And you think it would be good, reasonable journalism for London to be portrayed as somewhere where the streets burn at night and lone asian students are attacked on their way home. Not sure what the rest of your post had to do with my post though.

We should hold onto Hammond and I think we will. Important member of the overall squad. Useful, solid, reliable, back-up for centre mid. Can't see him moving up to Burnley with him and his family so settled down here.
-
Fair enough. So you feel it would be good journalism, for an asian tv company to do a documentary on London advising it's nationals not to visit the city and students not to study there, while showing various bits of footage from the London riots last year? It would be exactly the same principle. Also, I've not seen one post that could be classed as "Nazi Apologists".
-
If I remember rightly, Eastleigh got p*****d off last year as Saints weren't bringing a full strength XI to face them, guess they got that guarantee from Oxford instead.
-
Never understood why Spain haven't had a major tournament since '82, guess they're not too bothered with all the cost and hassle that comes with it.
-
Could you provide us with a quick list of countries you feel are acceptable venues for the Euro Championships?
-
How do I know? It's how every one of these sort of documentaries are made. Watch the 2002 Panaroma programmes on England. I have an issue with lazy, cliched, incorrect journalism - see my earlier point re what sort of picture foreign media coverage of last summer's London riots could paint of the city in contrast to every day reality.

Means he doesn't have a clue.

I've done games in both countries, major matches and not seen any problems. Same way if you went to most UK games you wouldn't see a thing, go to that West Ham v Millwall game the other year or our game against the skates that the bbc did a doc on and surprise, surprise, you'd get some decent footage. Or are you saying that this is the only footage and they just randomly happened to get some bad bits? What would you do if you were doing this doc? Go to the equivalent of MK Dons v Notts County or the equivalents of Swansea v Cardiff and get as many hours of footage as possible. How many individual bits of graffiti did we actually see across about 5 different cities? BBC love to hype it up before every major tournament, so no surprise this one is any different. They would love it to kick off other there so they can make a big fuss, unfortunately for them the vast, vast majority will pass off peacefully.
-
It got a bit lively towards the end of the season, but generally German football is very well behaved. I've done a fair few games over there and they don't even bother with segregation on the concourses. Can imagine they might try and cut down on the use of flares etc, but there is no way they will get rid of terracing unless something really major happens.
-
They picked out some of the worst games to go to in terms of trouble, same as doing the obvious ones here. Then took hours and hours of footage to get the bits they've shown. You won't see the hours of footage with games passing off harmlessly. In many ways, it's an inverse form of racism, looking down our noses at other less developed, progressive countries in Europe "how can these savages, think they're fit to hold a major tournament!?!?". Imagine if a Ukrainian tv company had chosen to do a programme on tourism in London in August last year, the streets burning, not safe to go out after dark in lots of areas, an asian lad on his own being filmed being attacked and robbed, at least on a par, if not worse than anything we saw in this documentary - surely London is unsafe to visit? Oh, but we've got Sol Campbell sitting there in his s**t cardigan, being shown a small amount of edited highlights of the worst problems and telling us what sort of countries Ukraine and Poland are and what we can expect to find there, when he has no expertise or detailed knowledge of either place, just a famous face for an easy sound bite - lazy journalism. And before you say anything, Nazi salutes, s**t banners, and attacking small groups of fans are the actions of utter, utter bell ends to put it mildly.
-
What are 'we' shocked about? Certainly not the usual lazy, cliched, patronising BBC 'journalism'.
-
Unbelievable. There really are some sick people in this world.
-
No we won't. OUr midweek games will be on Wednesdays, same as all the Prem.
-
What about Britton or Dyer from Swansea? They'd be picked if they played for a top 4 side. I'd have Crouch in there. Can't think of too many others though. Not bothered about Richards not being involved.
-
Agreed.
