Well no signings are vital. But it's certainly a weaker area than full backs. I think any centre back we buy won't be as back-up. Be interesting to see who gets a run out tomorrow.

Well it clearly hasn't been as we haven't signed a CB or keeper in time for the start of our pre-seson games. Yes, of course we can "chase more than one player at a time", but Adkins and Cortese only have finite time and resources, especially considering the complexity and constraints of modern transfer dealings. I'm sure we will add a CB and keeper, but I certainly think there is the argument for getting them in asap.

I agree we were better when Cork came on and agree that Hammond will be 4th out of 4, I think he's ideal as that 4th choice and the fact that Adkins picked him ahead of Cork for such an important game shows he still rates him. With Cork missing most of our pre season I'd expect Hammond to get plenty of game time in the build up to the season.

I think some are forgetting that Hammond was picked ahead of Cork as recently as the last game of the season against Coventry. We'll want a squad of 4 CMs and Hammond will be one of those even if not first choice.

I reckon he'll stay and be a key part of the squad if not starting that many actual games. Would rather keep Hammond than Chaplow given the choice.
