Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
Sour Mash replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
What's the point in it being a loan? May as well sell. Guessing he may not have really been our first choice when we bought him? Pity, good lad and a good finisher, football moves on too fast these days. Forest could well be on for promotion themselves. -
We're just waiting for the optimum time to announce it. He's signed.
-
Think Adkins just doesn't rate him or trust him, hence giving him very few opportunities. Pity, as he comes across as a good lad and at times his pace and directness has shaken things up a bit. Can see why many don't see a Premier League player there though. Must be a long, long way down the pecking order as well.

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
Sour Mash replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
Ha ha, that's quality, good find. -
Lee won't start. Didn't do enough tonight.
-
Few poor passes that played us into trouble and a few runs that were unproductive, but it wasn't an out and out bad performance from the lad, got a few good challenges in and Stevenage are no mugs. Good learning curve for the kid and the potential is definitely there - not ready for the first team this season though.
-
Enjoyed that tonight. Stevenage did plenty of pressing first half and must have run themselves out a bit. We dominated the 2nd half, although a 4-1 score line flatters us a bit. Thought Hammond and Puncheon were good for us. Does seriously emphasise the massive gap between League One and the Prem.
-
As we don't play again until Sunday and then have a two break, I'd expect a fairly strong line-up from us. Plenty of players could still do with a bit of match sharpness, I think we'll only rest two or three, depending on knocks from the Wigan game.
-
Forgetting the various threads, we'll sign Ramirez and a few others before Friday.
-
What you reckon Rodrigues role is this season? You reckon we told him when signing he'd be left wing back?
-
Why?
-
Rubbish. If we'd played 4-4-2 like last season, Guly wide right, Lallana wide left, Lambert and Rodrigues up front, we'd have won today. Adkins got the tactics spot on last week, he got them wrong today.
-
Some of them will be northern Saints who won't be doing both the home games.
-
Expecting Wigan to sit deep and hit us on the counter with pace. Wouldn't be surprised at a Wigan win of 1-0/2-1.
-
Partly that and partly the fact that Cortese's vision is funded by the Liebherr's equity, Lowe had share-holders to answer to - who knows how each one would work out if they were in the other's shoes.
-
Don't think it'll be too bad at all - Sharp, Lee, Chaplow, De Ridder, Richardson, Shaw, Hammond will all need game time, plus any possible new signings.
-
Agreed, don't think any of us were expecting to see tickets sold this way! Got to hand it to our ticket office, they keep us on our toes.
-
Plenty of very gobby City to our left who seemed to have more interest in trying to goad Saints fans when they scored than actually celebrate themselves. Having said that chatted to plenty of very sound City fans before and after, can't imagine doing the same when playing United.
-
It could affect allocation of tickets for Arsenal. There'll still be close to 1k tickets left after those that went to Man City have bought theirs. It is possible then that those that went to Stevenage, but not City, might get priority over those that did neither.
-
Just getting home now. Decent weekend away, made completely worthwhile for those 2 goal celebrations alone. Came away from the game with mixed feelings, frustrating we came close to get something, (think a bit more belief and/or composure at times), but also proud of the effort & application from the lads, gave it a proper go.
-
But that's my point. Loads of different factors other than simply how much a player is paid.
-
Can't think of QPR buying anyone comparable to this to be honest?
-
You think both of them could play and Lallana, plus a "striker"?
-
Yes, that was the quote I was referring to in my post, which was in the skysports page that I had quoted - hence my point that we must be offering him pretty serious money. Actualyl, I see in your ESPN link they've added in his wages/signing on fee - similar to my guess of £50k per week I think.
-
Quality. Going on those quotes I'd guess we're paying him £50k per week or more?
