  1. No we're not. We're one of the top 10 footballing nations in the world.
  2. Redgrave is the right choice. Why is it being done in French? What has that got to do with anything.
  3. This is the worst bit of the whole thing so far. Feels like it's turned into a Greenpeace convention of all of a sudden after the buzz of the Artic Monkeys playing.
  4. Tacky shellsuits. Were we the only nation to shout and screech into the camera when we were walking past?
  5. Ok man! You been on the sauce tonight Col?
  6. Ha ha Stan Collymore of all people trying to take a moral stance.
  7. Couldn't it have at least been made a bit more interesting by booing the German and Argentinian teams?
  8. Becuase it isn't discrimination. You wouldn't expect a white person to play Nelson Mandela in a story of his life would you?
  9. Because they look nothing like the people from the period of time they're supposedly re-creating. I believe it is the reason that acting is one of the few industries you can legally 'discriminate' on the basis of race for that very obvious, practical reason.
  10. But they’re not "celebrating" it. They're actors/performers, paid to take part in a show, which is supposedly an historical representation of a particular period of British history, but is instead distorted to fit in with ridiculous PC pressure. It's not like the "multi-cultural" make-up of this country hasn't been well represented throughout the rest of the show.
  11. Probably none and I couldn't care less.
  12. No it's not worth it. We've produced plenty of brilliant players in this country anyway. No point destroying loads of smaller clubs on the off chance it might produce one or two more England wins each year.
  13. Why bother even posting on the subject if you don't even have an actual opinion on the matter?
  14. I know that.
  15. Prices seem fairly reasonable all things considered, but can't see too many people paying £42 for our CAT C games.
  16. Change De Ridder for Guly and Ward-Prowse with S Davis.
  17. Possible, but unlikely. Reckon most of the first choice side will get a good 70mins run out, with a fair few subs after that.
  18. I thought the whole Olympics was going to be brilliant and amazing?
  19. Fair enough and each to their own. Fortunately I do not need my country to be hosting table tennis and greco-roman wrestling to make me happy, but I'm glad it's giving you lots of pleasure regardless of the cost.
  20. Sorry, did you actually read my post? As I stated, some of the events will be brilliant, I've got tickets for a few of them. But tell me what about the Archery event that particularly excites you? I work all over London, so I'm well aware of the changes in transport/security policy - but your approach seems to be, that you can only be critical of something that directly affects you? Yes, millions of people stepped out of their houses to watch the torch go by, but millions of people also watch Big Brother every year, I take it you also consider that a great success we should be proud of? What are your thoughts on the huge increase in costs for the Olympics in relation to the original estimate? Or the vast power and control that corporations such as McDonalds and Coca Cola have over such basics as what we're able to eat and drink at the events?
  21. Why must you enjoy it or leave the country? If you think something ain't great you should be able to comment accordingly. Some of the events will be brilliant. Some will be a waste of time. The faffing around for a month with the Olympic torch, the massively expensive opening ceremony (which is what this thread is about) & and the over the top security and travel related panic ('Olympic' lanes etc) I'm not a fan of - therefore I should leave the country? Right....
  22. You think it'll be worth the quoted £13m? For a bit of music and some costumes. Don't get all this hype about the torch either, what is the actual appeal of going to see it?
  23. It's finding a good example showing there aren't that many players out there with Prem experience that would be available to us and offer value. Or if you want the thread to go in another direction, then tell us why 'we haven't signed players with Prem experience' if thats what you want to discuss?
  24. Fair enough, don't worry too much though. and I won't worry that we haven't been linked with Michael Turner.
  25. Cheaper? Probably. Better? Not really. I'm not saying there aren't any players out there that would be a good option for us, but they have to be better than what we've got, would come to us and be reasonably affordable/offer some value. Not that many players that I can think of. Just looking at a few bets for the season tonight, we're joint favourites with Reading for relegation. That's the way the outside footballing world views us at the moment, makes it difficult to entice established top flight players.
