Broadly agree, although I have to say that young Martin has acquitted himself better than just "a learner"... You are right that he has yet to acquire the positional expertise required at this level and he does need to work hard on his first touch and passing game, but he has deputised in some big games against decent quality strikers and won plaudits for the manner he has stuck to his tasks.

Confidence is key - We know that from our early season form! We need to buy a win somehow and use that as our springboard and right now its just not happening.

Works for me....

By the way, I'm a bit torn about tomorrow night when you play the DFCB's... Win that and you are breathing right down our necks... Reckon they will do as they often seem to do - Turn up and park their shabby team bus in front of their back four and let Kitson feed of scraps by himself up front. They might be hard for you to break down and to be honest I can see another 0-0 draw in the offing.

Just in case you read this Punch.. Great attitude and great performances ! Keep it up son !!

Cheers Bluenose ! A good summary, and to be completely frank we are pleased with the point. best player on the pitch by far was that man-mountain in the middle of your park, N'Daw. Can't shoot very well but by christ did he work his buns off... Agree Fox's sending off was harsh and funnily enough I reckon he would have taken that free kick at the death, and Lambo would have been at the far post to challenge for it! Wish you good luck too - Hughton has done a wonder job at your club and you will be there or therabouts at the end of the season.. UTS

Indeed - The mind boggles !!

Hypocrites ! Ha !!! There are no greater hypocrites than you and your ilk.. lapping up every dodgy penny that funded buying a team of internationals that sent you to Wembley a few times, but then squinnying and braying like wounded donkey's when the bills need repaying. You can't have it all ways - Just take the medicine you deserve!

Thanks Mate and welcome to our board.. We are delighted that he has chosen to come here, and every Saints fan that I know of thinks he is a top, top signing.. I really wish you well and hope you stay up ( although we could do with beating you in March of course).. Keep an eye out for our Skate neighbours down the other end of the M27 - Their financial situation is perilous and they are trying to weasel their way out of paying bills, selling players and seeking unfair advantages where they can, but I think they are on for a big points deduction if everything is handled fairly by the football authorities.. That might send them tumbling down into the bottom 3 and perhaps give you an impetus to push forward..

Absolutely delighted that Billy has joined us - He is a proven goalscorer and seems to have a fantastic attitude, just the type that fits in with our own club ethos. Congrats Nicola and Nigel and a huge welcome Billy.

Should Billy sign as expected then by christ we have some options don't we ???

Good, Collins is a carthorse. Prefer we shop elsewhere.

They were reported on Sky that they were after Janko too, but looks like Porto have offered more... They seem to be after more strikers than Arthur Scargill !!!
-
He certainly is - Extradition request from Lithuania... Cue a referral to the European Court for Human Rights !!!
-
Not much use if the ball is continually hoofed over his head !
-
Other than Nakamura not really, but thinking in the wider Europe, Kagawa who plays for Dortmund and Honda who plays in Moscow are 2 of the most sought after players on the continent... No reason why Tadanari cannot succeed here is his current Japanese team-mates can do so well elsewhere in Europe.

The man is back !!!!!!!
-
They need to get the service to him as he wont run to find the ball himself.. Just cut off his supply.
-
Barney will do what he always does - Work his socks off and might even get on the end of an opportunity to score. Great to see him back - Have a good game Barney Boy !!
-
Wish him the very best of luck - The experience will be good for the lad.

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..
Foxstone replied to SB's topic in The Saints
January window is a tough one to buy what you want - Unless you are very lucky you tend to pay over the odds or sign players that others don't want/need - This Might not be a bad thing everytime of course, but clearly all of our targets are wanted/needed and would take an inflated wedge to land them. Like you I would feel more comfortable with another centre back and another striker but if they are not available ...! -

I disagree - I honestly think Hooper was a realistic target for us and well worth pursuing as he would markedly improve our squad now, and also was fit for purpose for the Prem should we get there. OK we hav'nt landed him this time but neither have West Ham or Cardiff landed their targets either.. Why settle for a "fans opinion back up" that might just not fit in with what Nigels plans and what he wants to achieve and not been any better than what we have ( I'm thinking of Jutkiewicz here BTW)... Also Puncheon now has a point to prove. he now has an opportunity to rescue his career and impress putting himself in the shop window in the summer ( should he wish) - Without this he was heading tpwards oblivion but now he will be anxious to show what he can do for any number of reasons. We have money to spend but you can only spend each available pound once - So it makes sense to buy what you want rather than buy a "makeshift" !
