well it's a game in the south of england, it's an improvement on the other week

It's inevitable that Pompey will be saved by a last minute deal early next week, the only scenario it won't happen is if some of the conspiracy theorists are correct and it's either Gaydamak getting his revenge on Chainrai or HMRC have done a deal with Gaydamak where he gets them closed down in return for HMRC not going after Gaydamak like they've previously threatened to. From what I can see if Pompey don't go up this season they will be serious trouble. They will have to come out of admin to start next season at all and if they do that they will be open to winding up orders from any creditors who aren't getting what they should be receiving (and judging by their current wage bill this appears likely) If Pompey do go up I can see them getting enough dosh to come out of admin, keep their current team and pay off the creditors. I may well be wrong about this as the financials are beyond me but getting to the PL is a massive prize and I can see them worming their way to a far more stable situation than they are currently in. That's when investment may start to materialize on the horizon.

The key is whether they get promoted or not this season. They have a squad good enough to challenge for automatic promotion NOW. If they go up into the PL riches it'll surely put them in a far better position financially

I cannot even look at the BBC sport website at the moment. Who in their right mind in the BBC thought sticking up a slideshow including a close up of John W******d's face, complete with mong expression was a good idea?

You didn't happen to have toast for breakfast this morning by any chance?

The most surprising thing of all of today's developments is that we haven't had a "They will get away with it" from Nick

This. The only way Pompey will be liquidated from what I can see is if Gaydamak is doing Chainrai up like a kipper.

shall we have a sweepstake on when the last minute deal will be struck? I'll go for 11:59 Monday evening

Course it will. It makes the people who were calling for this thread to be closed look rather foolish but I suspect there is plenty of life left in this thread yet. Sky reckon that Gaydamak have moved the goalposts at the 11th hour, reporting it as a screw up. There will be a deal done at 11:59 though and they'll survive for now.

I bet they'll reach a last minute deal with Gaydamak

Hm, wonder what these could be?

I didn't give a toss about the money, it was a pittance anyway. I was far more interested into how I discovered one way of how Blair/Brown had massaged our unemployment figures. I got a job in the end through friends in the end and a stroke of luck. It's not what you know it's who you know. Besides there were plenty of agency jobs, the problem was the number of people applying for them gave me little chance. I could have got a job within 6 months but I hung on because I didn't fancy becoming a cleaner or a carer.
