  1. Actually from what I've heard from Awford I think he's spoken a lot of sense. He genuinely seems to get what is going on down there and his comments after Mann ruled in Pompey's favour were spot on. He stressed how fortunate they were and how so few take on the taxman and win. He seems to tell it like it is and hasn't been far off the mark a lot of the time It may be that the Pompey public relations department has got to him in recent times though
  2. Lawrence's emergency loan deal expired the other day, so unless they sort a deal out he'd won't play for them again I believe EDIT: 2-0
  3. He did do a good job at Ipswich and Hearts. Since 2005 however, he has either achieved the bare minimum or failed at any job he has had. He could have done so much better here (and didn't through his own failings) which is what I think a lot of people on here find so frustrating about him. To be fair, following Walter Smith's/McLeish job at Scotland and the Palace jobs were tough jobs.
  4. He's scored again. 2 goals today
  5. bought a 2000 Nissan Micra for the wife only done 40000 miles, for 950 quid 2 and a half years later the only time it didn't start was when the original battery went.
  6. I do as well TBh However Lewis, Anderson, Barney, Jenkins, Webster and Whitlock could all stop him on current form Even Taylor hasn't got near Anderson's averages so far
  7. LOL just had a look at the draw for the BDO "World" Championship on the BBC in January Of the 32 players, 1 is German, 3 are Dutch and the remaining 28 are from the UK.
  8. the days of St David, LLS and the takeover threads. Oh those were the days. Anyone remember that takeover thread where PM's started flying around amongst half the posters and half the people contributing to the thread didn't know what the other half were talking about The OPEN LETTERS started by Chorley provided a lot of entertainment. But my favourite has to be the Rudi Skacel one
  9. There are a few players that can stop Taylor this year, it's getting to the crunch part of the tournament
  10. Darts takes all sorts these days
  11. find that odd as that is probably what they pay Utaka or Nugent in 7 days
  12. Liam Lawrence is unavailable until 1st January because his emergency loan expires before the next game I believe
  13. BBC darts commentator Tony Green a couple of years ago "Eric Bristow won 5 world titles, I don't think it'll ever be repeated" This is despite the fact Van Barneveld has won 5 world titles (4 on the BBC, 1 on Sky) and Taylor has won 15 world titles (2 on the BBC, 13 on Sky) Happens everywhere
  14. Sky tend to pretend anything they don't broadcast doesn't exist BBC are as bad
  15. one of the pompey posters, can't remember which one "Nugent and Tommy Smith up front every day of the week, they've played top flight football for almost all their careers" Meanwhile I think I've won "The Michael Fish moment of the year" on the snow thread. I posted this on 25th November on this year.
  16. Just been on wikipedia and it shows the Qatar team have recently capped or called up 2 Brazilians, 1 Uruguayan, 2 Senegalese, a Yemeni, 3 Saudi Arabians, 2 Kuwaitis, a Guinean and 2 Ghanaians. There are a few Qataris there believe it or not LOL Sebastian Soria (Uruguay born) is one of their key players and started playing for the Qatari team within about 2 years of first playing for a Qatari side.
  17. The Cameroon national team were bloody awful in the late 70s, yet they weren't that bad at Italia '90. . . The one I'm looking forward to is Equatorial Guinea co-hosting and playing in next year's African cup of nations Let's look at how Qatar did in the world cup qualifying for 2010 1st round: beat Sri Lanka 6-0 on aggregate 2nd round: bye to 3rd round 3rd round group stage - finished 2nd in the group, level on points with Australia, and finished above 2007 Asian Cup winners Iraq and China, who qualified for the world cup in 2002 Final qualifying round: Finished 4th in Group A where they finished behind Australia, Japan and Bahrain but ahead of Uzbekistan. So at their current level now they'll be no worse than a Saudi Arabia or Iran team in the world cup. And as their domestic league is currently attracting players like Nadir Belhadj and Quincy Owusu Obeyie (Yep the very same skates) it'll only improve the standard. 12 years is a long time. Besides they'd do a lot better than the Seychelles. . .
  18. Qatar won't be that bad, they'll go out in the group stages I suspect and possibly get a point. Besides it's still 12 years away, plenty of time for improvement yet.
  19. I think there's an interview with them on the sky sports website. 1st round's been completed. Taylor was poor but will get better, anderson and barney were impressive. been great so far
  20. I think Boyle is naturally a very funny man. His problem seems to be he doesn't have the commitment or the effort to keep on writing good material. When he can be arsed to write anything new all he's done is churned out some lazy vulgarity under a premise to shock. He's already publicly stated he's quitting stand up within the next 18 months, I'm guessing he'll go to co-producing more on the TV and do the minimum to earn a decent living
  21. He was excellent on mock the week, very quick and was a key part of the show. Nowadays he's changed his act where he deliberately tries to be crude for the sake of it and it is just cringeworthy, the more crude he tries to be the less funny he is. His act used to be a 'grumpy Scotsman billy connolly' routine with an edge to it, but now he is just completely vulgar under the premise of "we should be allowed to laugh at absolutely anything" and it's useless. Unless he changes it, he'll be off the TV within a couple of years. He's also the most talentless and worst stand up I've ever seen, by a long way. I saw him at some show where he was supposed to do a 30-40 minute set. After churning out some recycled mock the week lines that didn't get many laughs, he then started picking on the front row and when that didn't get many laughs he buggered off the stage after about 15 minutes. It took about 10 mins before the crowd realised it wasn't some big wind up to a gag and that he actually had just walked off. Even a racist bigot like Manning had talent in his delivery and timing. Boyle was absolutely useless, there quite a few cries of "get some new material"
  22. A default would in theory yes, but it depends whether the spiel for "you are all going to get shafted because we're spending all the money on the first team instead" bit of the CVA was included in the small print and all the creditors missed it/were gullible enough and agreed to it anyway. Therefore is it technically a default? I'm no expert by any means but I wonder if it's possible to shaft the creditors this way and avoiding any punishment on this technicality
  23. If this did happen could any of the creditors apply for a WUO for the new company? Or is it protected by this because they've already agreed to the CVA?
  24. creditors meeting is 5 mins in
  25. Personally I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Besides I've always saved up money in my life so have hardly ever needed to borrow money
