Because AA was Chainrai's puppet on a string. And HMRC argued their case from completely the wrong angle and were outwitted by AA. I'm assuming Chainrai is funding them out of his back pocket for the remainder of the season. We may get some indication of what their doing in January as to who goes and who joins although I think Chainrai will make his move when he knows which division their playing in next season. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple more £20k a week loans in January on top of what they already have

BBC state Pardew get Newcastle job within 24 hrs.
JackFrost replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
Based on what? (Purely out of interest) While myself and SOG couldn't disagree on certain issues more I think he has got a point about Newcastle. Even competing in the Championship last season should have been a massive wake up call for the Newcastle fans. I think Hughton being sacked is one of the most farcical sackings yet. Whilst he had the best squad on paper in the Championship by a distance, for a caretaker manager to win the Championship with that dominance, whilst keeping big egos playing below their level focused, and then getting them to a relative mid table position in the PL was a fantastic achievement. Besides Hughton isn't the only one, I thought Roeder did a very good job a few years ago, maintaining a mid table position when the number of injured players in the squad was rarely in single figures the whole season. Yet he was forced out. Newcastle have been in decline for a long time and a lot of their fans don't see it, even with the relegation coming as a warning. I'd rate their fans as amongst the most deluded in the country. We went through two separate instalments of the "The Messiah has returned" routine with the fans during 2008-2009 and the club still ended up going down. As for Pards taking over there, good luck to him. Sadly though I doubt he'll do barely any better than Hughton. He'll keep them in the PL, hoofing to Andy Carroll will see to that but their a million miles away from achieving anything other than that -
If the rumours about him being disinterested in the game are true I can see someone like Estudiantes or Boca Juniors prising him away from Europe

TBH I stopped believing this rumour as soon as I read the word "pub"

Like him or not he's also spot on about the reasons behind the lack of talented English youngsters coming through at the moment. They get paid too much, too early and don't put the hard work in. He is one of the best man-to-man managers around, and the reasons why he failed here? Because he didn't want to be here

Difference is the universities are cashing in on it. Bournemouth Uni for example OWNS one of the most popular nightclubs in Bournemouth (the firestation) and actively encourage students to go there 7 nights a week, and get ****ed. The deals on cheap booze are most apparent there when the new undergraduates start. The uni promote it in such a way it is the ONLY place to socialise until the students start discovering other nightclubs. The University has dedicated bus services going from the uni campus, passing close to most of the student housing they own in the surrounding area, and it ends right near, you guessed it. The nightclubs. They design the 'student experience' in such a way it almost forces them to either be studying or partying. This is how deep the problem of the laziness and decadence of modern students are, sure there are many that work hard and are responsible how much they drink, but the uni's actively encourage the drinking, nightclubbing and irresponsibility

LOL, you just couldn't resist it could you -
It depends on the field but the majority of employers in my experience far prefer relevant work experience to a relevant degree.

I think university has to made more for the few but by that I mean only for those serious about going and studying hard for worthwhile subjects, regardless of background. I think the raised tuition fees will contribute to this which is why I am for them. Get rid of the "golf course design" and "wine tasting" courses and focus on academic and core subjects that allow people to go into a certain profession. Sadly the amount of these joke degrees boomed under the Labour government as one of the many ways to manipulate and get the unemployment figures down, and this contributed towards a lot of the decadent boozing culture that engulfs a lot of universities now. As a friend of mine found out if you aren't someone who likes going out to nightclubs and getting ****ed regularly you can very easily become socially excluded. Sadly a lot of universities in part now, are less "universities", and more school playgrounds designed for grown up kids.

A lot of them are probably too young to remember when Labour introduced them at 3 grand a year

Weirdly there was all that uproar about his comments about Rebecca Adlington and I didn't really see what all the fuss was about. He's said far more offensive things about diana. He's publicly stated a few years ago he was going to give up stand up and it looks like he's going through the motions. He was very good on Mock the Week but he's gone onto this path of vulgarity and it really doesn't do him any favours. From what I've seen of him as a stand-up he's been appaling

Safe Standing Bill in Parliament - template letter now attached
JackFrost replied to bungle's topic in The Saints
While I can see the case for it there's no way they'd bring standing areas back. Even over 20 years later, the Hillsborough card will still be played en masse and be too much of an influence. Hillsborough was hopelessly outdated even in '89 and what happened was a tragedy waiting to happen. With the surge of football's popularity in the 70s and 80s there was a complete failure to modernise the safety standards of stadiums back then. Hillsborough certainly wasn't the first fatal disaster in a football stadium during those times. Even with modern safety standards in stadiums being in a completely different world to what they were in the late '80s the shadow of Hillsborough will remain ever present over this debate, and for a very long time to come. -
Quite, I'd be interested to do a survey on which courses a lot of these protesting students are doing.
-
more likely to be six times worse

Personally I'm for it as hopefully it'll discourage the culture of the students going to uni to get boozed up and study "golf course design" or "surfing studies". The cost is high yes, but hopefully it'll only encourage the students who are serious about studying hard to go. From what I've read it will have little or no impact on students from a poorer background

Safri was one of our best midfielders for a long time. Still playing for Qatar SC who finished 4th in the Qatari league last season

LOL I remember Redknapp saying 5-6 years ago he'd never manage England in a million years because of the amount of pressure and the media spotlight. Now that he's worked out what the England manager's job actually entails he's very interested in er hopping on. If someone offered me £5 million a year just to say 'yes' continually to them for 4-5 years I'd be very interested as well
-
Ah they've finally updated it from Skacel signing for Saints
-
I think Chainrai will keep them on life support and make his next move when he knows which division they'll be playing in next year

I genuinely feel sorry for him. As someone who has met him, he is a genuine bloke who does a lot of good things in the local community and has had a very close relationship with the club for a very long time. Now in his position he has to play the "it's ok everyone" role for the fans and whilst doing that the club I suspect are sticking two fingers up at him like their doing to everyone else. The only thing he's got for his years of commitment and love for the club is to get completely shafted.

or Keegan. The season they went down they had both of these "messiahs" in the same season
