I don’t understand why the talk is that if he goes on loan it will be to Burnley. Surely Pep and co would rather see him cutting his teeth in the Premier League, it’ll help them decide what to do with him next season as well. If we got him in on loan, with the addition of Mara, Adams and Armstrong I suppose we could wait to see how things develop on the Broja front well into mid-end of August or it still gives us time to get another striker in permanently if they give up on the Broja option.
-
I’ve seen a lot of people dismiss him and say “not worth the money” etc BUT the difference between him and Delap for example is that Broja has shown he can do it in the Premier League. Yes his form dipped at the end of last season but so did everybody else and secondly he was so isolated on his own up front even Harry Kane would have struggled. Play to his strengths and you’ve got a Premier League striker ready to go on your hands.

Out of the last 5 seasons we have finished above 15th once, the past two seasons both 15th, that’s my source 😂
-
Nobody has said that 🙄 If you care to read the posts properly the discussion is about him noticeably tiring in games and not being taken off/given a break.
-
No, I’m not blaming the ACL on anything except bad luck but after he had that meniscus injury he was never quite the same when he came back which suggests to me he should have been given longer to fully recover and was either carrying it slightly or worried about it. I think Ralph had the nerve to criticise England for playing him in an U21 match for the full 90 minutes which is ironic given he could never see he was tiring in the last 25-30 mins of games, esp after that injury.
-
Tbf it was Ralph who ran the boy into the ground by not giving him a break then still playing him all the time when he'd had an injury instead of letting him recover properly.

To be fair SR have ticked the boxes we needed ticking - goalkeeper, central defender, central midfielder, attacking midfielder, striker(s)…..…just need cover at full back to go with this second striker. Now if we could lose some of the dead wood to enable them to bring a couple more in…..but that’s being greedy.
-
So for anyone who watched that did we play that non entity not really doing anything style that we ended last season on or is the pressing game back?
-
Can’t be any worse than Redmond as a striker…….although probably not much better. Another Ralph brainwave 😱
-
I’ll rephrase - put the money towards a bid for Broja
-
Get him on loan and use the money for Broja then. Mara, Delap, Broja and Adams, that’ll do. Get A Armstrong out on loan with an option to buy.
-
We won’t finish any higher than 15th.
-
I hope Mara is good cos bloody hell he’s gonna need to be.
-
2 positives then 🤭

No mention of the rumoured new contract here or on the OS. Does that mean he hasn’t signed one or we log it with the Stephens and McCarthy non announcements?
-
They must rate him highly if they are turning down £16 million for a lad who has basically no significant Prem League time under his belt. It does worry me that we are going with 2 untried strikers + Adams.
-
Worth a few quid on Lampard. Once the penny drops with the scousers that he isn’t very good they will turn in an instant.
-
I thought him and McCarthy were given deals last season then it just wasnt announced...or was it only McCarthy last season ?
-
So that’s another striker as well as Mara then? Good news. Have to say if Stephens is one thats been told he can go that offer of the new contract last season was absolute bloody lunacy !!
-
Oh yes me too but they like to wait until the signing the contract and holding up the shirt photos are done don’t they?
-
I suspect Saints aren’t very happy Bordeaux let the cat out of the bag. I can’t remember when they last, If ever, made an “in principal” announcement
-
You are correct but what concerns me with buying all these young players is our opponents, whether that be game by game, or more importantly in the jostle to avoid relegation will not have any "being patient" skills, they see weakness and they will go for the jugular and how we cope with that is a big worry for me.
-
No, that’s Nathan Redmond 😁
-
oh the irony 😏 and they spent how much on Burnley's star man Chris Wood ?
-
You mean unlike our coaching supremo who having seen what his strengths were decided to ignore them and plonked him way upfield on his own?
