  1. 23 people have been found glued to the ceiling and walls of a train in Dublin. Irish Police believe that political activists may have set of the first ever No More Nails bomb.
  2. Having been a military type for most of my working career, I am unused to the workings of a civilian company and need some advice. The company I work for are looking to reduce costs and have suggested that the lady I work with reduces her hours by half. She is of an age whereby she is unlikely/unable to contest this. As I usually act as cover for her in her absence, I have a feeling that as a result of her reducing her hours, I will be ‘expected’ to take up the slack and do much of the work that she currently undertakes. Her job is reasonably busy – as is mine; and I would not particularly relish having to take on her additional hours My questions are: When/if confronted with this situation, where do I stand. For instance; Should I not wish to take on her additional work, what are my rights? Am I entitled to ask for a review of my employment (and possibly an increase in pay) if I am required to absorb the slack? I have a Job Description and Terms of Reference, both of which state that I deputise for this lady during periods of absence, however; in my understanding this relates to periods of leave/sickness etc. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  3. Just finished reading Kate McCann's book........ She's left the door open for a sequel.
  4. It won't happen - it would be a total own goal. The result of such an event would be be to promote a small fry splinter group into a category aligned to the Bin Lidders of this world. They would then have no hiding place (Ireland ain't Afghanistan) and would be hunted down relentlessly. Sure, they are after publicity for their 'cause', but even Katie Price wouldn't go for this stunt...............
  5. I guessed the same - he was naked from the waist down and there was some severe bruising.......................not the best afternoon of my life
  6. I had the misfortune of being 'first on scene' whilst serving with the military in The Netherlands. The Dutch police had requested the assistance of NATO troops to search for a missing boy in an area of marsh and woodland. We spent the best part of four hours trawling over the area and were about to call of the search when we (myself and others) discovered the half naked body of this young boy on the edge of a field. The worse thing I recall was walking back to the RV point and hearing his mother's howls when she was informed of the find. Nightmare scenario......
  7. I'm both a lover and a fighter.............. Or as the courts like to call it, "A rapist"
  8. Following the death of the human cannonball at the Kent Show a spokesman has stated, "We'll struggle to get another man of the same calibre"
  9. Last night I went out and got pi**ed out of my head. I must have had 20 pints and I can't remember a thing. This morning I woke up next to the ugliest woman I have ever seen. Thank God I got home alright........................

  12. Really good. Can I suggest an addition A Jordan – in the thick rough A Victoria Beckham - looks OK from afar, but no so good up close there is bound to be loads more....... I'll think on By the way Chapter 3 - where it says refering to Chapter 8 - should this not be Chapter 9?
  13. I work with the military and some of the 'females' would struggle to get into a sub let alone add anything else. I can't see how adding women submariners would enhance the working capabilities of the Seamen.......... Women within the front line Army would be a significant step in the wrong direction IMO. Again, how would placing a member of the fairer (and physically weaker) sex into an arduous environment enhance the Army? In a Force where you are totally reliant on your fellow comrades to cover you and 'get your back' I wonder how many would be keen to have a female 'buddy' tagging along. Not a sexist thing - it just happens to be a reality. Don't get me wrong, there are roles for females in the military - however, these should be restricted to areas where they can provide a positive input. To create a parallel with civvy street, you don't see many female builders or road workers do you? and this is predominantly because the work is suited (physically) to their more able male counterparts.
  14. Great site that - I was a bit surprised that North Wales was not on the list though...........!!

  18. Best thing about this was the quote on BBC scrolling news this morning where it said. 'US Defence Secretary Robert Gates sacks the marine general in charge of F-35 strike fighter jet for not hitting targets' Now I knew it meant finiancial targets but it made me smirk
