As long as we brought in an experienced centre back, I think we’d do pretty well. I can see is getting rid of Cedric, Bertrand, Hoj, Lemina, Boufal, Tadic and Carrillo (if we get 7 figures for him I’ll be amazed). Rebuild the team around the core British players like Davis, Long and Austin and with the mix of youth, we should alright. McCarthy New right back (assuming Pied also leaves) Yoshida Stephens (although I’d prefer a new CB) Targett Reed Romeu Sims/Long Hesketh JWP/Davis Austin/Gallagher That’s a pretty decent first eleven. We’ll need some solid new signings to add depth and experience

To be honest though, those players you've mentioned should all be good enough, Gallagher, Reed and Targett are already proving themselves. Bednarek is an unknown really.

A centre back to partner Yoshida should be the priority. Sadly, the board probably think Stephens will do.

Arsenal will be prioritising the Europa League, and then of course have the early kickoff on Sunday less than 72 hours later, so hopefully Wenger names the youth or something. Try and park the bus and hope for the best.

I'd narrow it down to between us and Huddersfield for that final spot. Huddersfield work hard but lack that bit of quality, whereas we are lazy as well as lacking quality. I don't think Stoke will stay up, and obviously there is no chance for West Brom.

I'd love to say I'm surprised but I'm not. They've let us down so many times that it's just sad. Many of them really need to take a good long hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask if they really want to play. In many cases, the decision should be taken out of their hands. If Cedric gets a move to a big club then his agent is a miracle worker. I would rather have Frazer Richardson playing, at least he could cross the ball.
