FA Cup Qtr Final Saints v Wigan or Man City AWAy
Pamplemousse replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
The BBC article is wrong, the date is still TBC. Earlier it had the time as 3pm on Saturday, which definitely won’t be the case. I don’t think there will be another game on Saturday because it would clash with the Six Nations coverage, and as it’s the final round, would probably get more viewers. I’m convinced that one game will be on the Friday and the other Sunday early afternoon. -
The Under Armour logo was a different colour I believe

No other time have the Quarter-finals been played over 4 days. Two days or three days maximum. There will definitely be an earlier game on the Sunday. Also, as far as I'm aware, I cannot find another country's league or cup which has games scheduled on Monday 18th. All the games end by Sunday night. Pretty sure the Monday is off limits. -

I did see that too when looking it up. I've seen a few people mention FIFA regulations prohibiting a Monday game, but that might only apply to competitive games and with friendly matches, it might be more flexible. I still think it'll cause a bit of a headache for the FA, I'm sure they will want their players available to link up (OK it's only Bertrand involved) at the earliest possible opportunity. Not sure about other countries like Portugal etc. -

It is very, very unlikely there is going to be a Monday game because of the international break. All of the countries for all of our players would have to agree to our players turning up late. The FA would only try and do that if there was literally no other date available. The scheduling of the Leicester v Chelsea game (4.30pm as opposed to the usual 4pm) indicates that there will be a game on the Sunday at 1.30pm, with a bit of time given to ensure that the games won't overlap. That's the most likely time. Someone on the Wigan forum has suggested that it will on Sunday, no idea if they are ITK or merely speculating like we are. -

They always put that though. Doesn't actually mean that there will necessarily be a game on all of those dates. http://www.thefa.com/news/2016/feb/21/sixth-round-proper-draw-180216 From 2016. They put 'across the weekend from 11-14 March' (11th being the Friday, 14th being the Monday) and games were played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. -

I might be wrong on this, but I believe there won't be any VAR because it can only be used at Premier League grounds (for the time being anyway). Shame because I was looking forward to seeing it in one of our matches. -
The only issue will be the shorts, which can be resolved pretty easily. There’s no need for a fourth kit. Maybe next season we should just avoid using black...

It can’t be Monday because of FIFA regulations. The Sunday game already announced is at 4.30pm, so I think our match will be Sunday at 1.30pm - three hours would be enough time to cover possible extra time and penalties to ensure there is no overlap. -

I’ve just noticed that there are 4 weeks between the 5th Round and 6th Round ties being played, as opposed to the usual 3 weeks. That’s probably why the FA have said it’s OK for BT to wait before they choose their match. Unacceptable though in my opinion. This is a very slippery slope... -

That is really, really poor. Presumably BT will go for Spurs (if they go through) and that will be the Friday night game, leaving either Saturday or Sunday lunchtime for us. -
Bloody hell, Yoshida out for 5 weeks! What happens if one of Stephens or Hoedt gets injured????? The decision to not sign a centre back has backfired massively. Well done Les.

Brighton forum ITK is saying that their game at Man Utd is on the Saturday at 7.45pm -
Is MoPo getting enough credit??? WE ARE EIGHTEENTH IN THE LEAGUE TABLE. End of discussion.

Cedric gets into decent attacking positions but his final ball is really, really poor. 0 assists this season, very poor for an attacking right back. Pied has more than him ffs and he's barely played. I guess that's why he plays for us and not one of the big teams. Lemina is a quality player, there's no doubt about it.

Last year it was announced on a Thursday. But the draw was done on the Monday. Should be announced tomorrow at the absolute latest you'd have thought. It's possible that they have to rearrange other games in other leagues to accommodate every match, maybe that is the reason for the delay. -

Odd, games don't normally kick off at that time. It's normally 1.30pm. -

I think from the perspective of the BBC, Leicester v Chelsea would be more competitive, and from the perspective of the neutral, I think that's the best game of the four. And you have the Gary Lineker factor too. BBC might also think that they will get our match by default, assuming BT choose ties in their second and third picks that involve the bigger clubs. -

We’ll probably be fourth pick, which will mean being on BBC. Leicester v Chelsea would be the first pick for BBC, that’s most likely to be an upset. Then BT would choose Man Utd and Spurs for ratings. -

BBC have six nations on Saturday evening too. There is some talk that BT might push for a Saturday 7.45pm game. If they had the Liverpool game at 5.30pm followed by Man Utd at 7.45pm, it would be huge ratings for them. I was looking at this Wigan half marathon and it starts at 9.30am. How long do they last typically? Would Sunday at 4pm still be pushing it or would everything be done and dusted? Tottenham are scheduled in the league to play on the Friday night, so if they get through then it would be the most sensible option to just keep Spurs on Friday. Chelsea can't play on that day due to Champions League on the Wednesday, and it wouldn't be good for the fans (if the FA care) to send Saints or Brighton on a long away day on a working day. -
Cup win all day long, not even close. If we did win the cup and get relegated, would Pellegrino still keep his job?? Hope not.

They make Aston Villa's kits, so there's no reason for them to want to cancel. Probably there is a clause that they don't have to pay as much if we're relegated.
