  1. Tanqueray is very good and my preferred brand Bombay is too flowery for my liking In the Philippines Gilbeys is good and at only GBP 1.90 a bottle is also cheap. there are a lot of Plymouth gins which are also very good.

  3. cant beat a Portugese Super Bock when you have been trapped for 28 days offshore it's been reduced to 5.4% from 7% but is just about right to take the edge off before flying home from Angola. and as its better than the Angolan stuff full of formaldehyde.

  5. I had a job once of translating Japanese technical manuels to English and found the easiest way was to disregard the Japenese and get the originals that they had copied 15 years ealier.

  7. Lets face facts here SarnieSaint (one short of a picnic) will never agree that gun control will reduce the ability of the Americans (of which he is not ) to stop killing themselves with them. If as he claims is originally an English person having left those shores 40 years ago, he would have a better basic commmand of the written language than he has shown in these long drawn out bickerings. Other Canadians be it Ex-pat brit or Nationals obviously do not agree with him. So the question has to be asked as to why he has not moved South. Before he come's back and says I now nothing about The US of A I have lived there and worked in areas from the North East to the Deep South and a hell of a lot of places in between. It was there I found out that the Beverly Hill Billies was the first reality TV show.

  9. Of course positive discimination is wrong. Should not the best man, woman. or dog be given the postion. We have positive descrimination in Angola, where Angolans who are not ready to accept the responcibility of the positions they are put in then can make life / possible death decisions where a much better qualified Ex Pat is available. this is not just Angola but much of West Africa, Where the Nationals are agreived that other cultures have entered there countries and for the most part added to the benifits improved infrastructure but are still seen as the colonial masters. When a major disaster happens in the oil industry of West Africa and the investigation reveals it was due to the incompetence of the crew you can be guaranteed that the findings will go against the OIl Majors and not the crew that they have to employ to satisfy local labour laws and nationalisation programs. Now before you all start with why dont we train more Nationals to carry out these tasks We do but as soon as they have a certificate normally from an American or European accredited agency they leave and the National position has to go to another National who has not got the same training. an ever decreasing skill cycle.
  10. Is Turkish really called Jim?
