  1. Bit of a rout it would seem...
  2. Ooh, seems he's not doing his chances any harm:
  3. If there wasn't so much at stake, I'd like to see more of Falque in the first team squad but who would he replace? Mind you, given how the likes of Chaplow haven't made the last 2 squads, who knows?
  4. We all do it though. Most of us are fickle/knee-jerk at some time or another. Just some more so than others! Let's just be grateful for his form NOW, and look forward to what he can do for us in the future.
  5. For those trying to calculate the cost of flying, I suggest you do some research on Cost per Available Seat Mile (CASM).
  6. Well of course. That jizz won't mop itself! (How many years ago did Bateman come up with that now?! lol)
  7. Depends how deep you're looking. As it currently stands, the mixture of: - Demand for growth (aircraft size / airport size / runway slots / airspace) - Peak oil / fuel resources - Environmental impacts - Unrealistic pressure on prices (as evidenced on this thread) ... mean aviation is not sustainable in it's current form. Now, I'm not saying technologies won't improve, and that alternative fuels/fuel efficiencies won't be found, but if the industry itself is reluctant to change or invest in its future, then it comes down to governments to do so. And as I said above, I don't necessarily think they're doing it the right way, but unless something major happens, airlines and aircraft manufacturers will continue to do what they need to do to make short-term profits, and leave the longer term problems to 'someone else'. They're not alone in this obviously, but this thread is about the aviation industry.
  8. Oh, and The9, as much as I know what point you're making, I don't think we need your entire Facebook photo album collection on here...
  9. Lets be honest though, you probably generally think that about 90% of every home crowd consists of gimps...
  10. It's a complicated issue, but the worlds position on air travel is unsustainable. The rest of the world could well pass/may already have passed us by, but things can't continue as they are indefinitely. The problem is that no one wants to be the first to actually face up to that. The EU are trying... I don't necessarily agree with the way they're going about it, but putting heads in the sand doesn't help. Air travel is far more expensive than it is perceived to be. Public perception has been skewed beyond belief by budget carriers, and the airports/airlines' complaints are all about marketing and public perception than genuine concern for what is best for the industry in the long term. This tax is not ideal. It is like a sticking plaster over a much bigger zit that is waiting to burst. I don't have a perfect solution... there probably isn't one, but we have to accept that, like with food and many other things, cheaper is not better, and taxes (or whatever we want to call them) need to be devised that take into account of all the relevant factors, including external costs and long term effects.
  11. If he wants repeat things via his personal account then that's up to him. Yes, he has to be a bit careful but as long as he's not libellous and doesn't defame anyone, I don't see any problem. It's his opinion and he's entitled to it. He sends official news out via the officialsaints account. That's part of his job. What he sends out via his own account is up to him. Out of interest, as I've not met him, why do you think he's a "jumped up toss*r"?
  12. There are some good points above, but equally some glaring omissions IMO. The breaks that aviation already gets, versus other modes of transport, is estimated to be worth about £9 billion (fuel duty + VAT exemption). If you travel from London to Edinburgh, you pay about £25 in tax on the fuel... you pay £11 tax as an passenger on a plane. There is a lot wrong with the taxation in this country IMO, and I'm personally in favour of simplifying the whole system, but even before you discuss the environmental aspects, at a very basic level it seems appropriate that aviation should be made to pay it's way in terms of tax, just like other modes of transport. Shipping should be brought into line also.
  13. Adkins also knows that he has players who are hungry to get on and play their part. Freezing David Connelly out wouldn't help, so he probably gave him a chance to see what he could do to keep him on his toes also. He's still a quality player and as Adkins continually says, it's about the whole squad, not just 11 or 16, and having them all involved and hungry is important.
  14. At worst, it was perhaps unnecessary, and I too have criticised Sibley in the past for some things he's tweeted, but ultimately it is his opinion on his personal account, and you can't escape the fact that the way he viewed and interpreted it is the same way just about every other fan in the country (outside of Portsmouth) will have viewed it. What I find the most ironic is the Pompey News journalist criticising it when he has exactly the same 'Views are my own' in his twitter profile... why does he use the term if he clearly has no regard for it and ignores it when it suits him?
  15. Combination of fitness, sharpness, and the role that Adkins would have him play. Don't underestimate Adkins' tendency to pick players for specific scenarios based on individual attributes.
  16. The continual labelling of people like them as 'gimps'. They looked ridiculous to you. Not to me, or clearly many others. It wouldn't be my choice to take such placards either, but I'm not gonna criticise them for it just because they choose to do something different.
  17. Indeed - but for some people if it doesn't fit with their view of how football 'should be' then it gets criticised. Each to their own of course, they're entitled to their opinion, but some of the comments are uncalled for. It seems with some fans, if you don't act as they think you should, then you're automatically a 'gimp'. Back to the player himself, I said in the Barnsley warm-up thread that I feel he is growing in stature and that he will start making more of an impact soon. His assist was a good start, and if the team start to find even one or two of his runs and he can get himself a goal or two more, I think we'll see him get better and better.

  19. Drum roll please...
  20. 1 - Couldn't give a sh!t about Nouble. 2 - Fully expect Chappers back on the right, and Cork back in the middle, with Lallana and Schneiderlin. 3 - Feeling in my waters that Lee is about to start getting amongst the goals/assists. His movement, awareness and generally tactical awareness are excellent, and he's playing well already... I can see the partnership with Rickie really start to flourish and end product is due soon. Tomorrow will be the day. 4 - Be positive. Ignore Reading and West Ham. We will win and we will stay top. COYR
  21. Why does Corp Ho exist? What's his point? If it is to blindly defend his beloved club, whilst understandable to a degree, I don't think anyone can defend the indefensible. So we'll all laugh at him. If it's to counter the various arguments and opinions put forward by us 'scummers', also understandable to a degree, you'd think he would actually check his facts and deal with the specifics of the questions. But he doesn't, he replies in his scattergun 'you're all so sad' way. So we'll all laugh at him. If it's 'for a laugh' then he's been successful... we all laugh at him! So in summary, he only exists and posts so we can laugh at him.
  22. There are still many people who don't think Morgan is suitable for 'up-and-at-em' type games but the more I see of him now the more I think he is becoming a very complete midfielder, with a very good (yet deceptive) engine on him, and a much improved tackle (fnarr). He is an automatic starter for me at present, but the positive pressure it creates for places is good for the whole team.
  23. That's what I was thinking... we have nothing to fear, just gotta concentrate on our own performances.
  24. Well, rather than it diverting into a discussion about whether it's good or not, how about those who think it is, carry on reading and posting, and those who don't, ignore it? Just a thought.
