Another success Turkish, well done. It reminds me of the old days on Saints Forever when I used to fall for it...

Unlikely to be 'yoof' if they're hiring a box. Pretty stupid thing to do to be honest.

Great players *might* make great managers, but will have very little to do with their playing ability. The oft-repeated line is that great players command respect as a manager. That is true initially and to some extent, but only until the manager shows whether they deserve respect as a manager, which is judged on their tactics, man-management and results. Plenty of good players have failed as managers, and equally, most of the better managers were not what I would call 'great' players.

lol, she's a little gem, isn't she?

It also helps to make up for the fact that many people who enjoy fags and booze then expect the NHS to sort them out when it leads to health issues. IMO, the government should focus more on making NHS treatment chargeable where it can be demonstrated that the illness was caused by drink/drugs/fags etc. People need to take responsibility for themselves. If you wanna drink and smoke, that's fine, but take responsibility for the consequences.

BBC South Today producer on Twitter just said he's watched the pen in slow-mo and there definitely wasn't any contact.

How has this thread got this far without this picture?

That I agree with entirely... endless requests for RT's are annoying IMO, although not as annoying as having to read them if they do RT them!

To use a phrase I hate: 'Brand awareness'... it's all about popularity and marketing. It's a bit of fun for us following the Saints players (although I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there), but for many others it's just a way of staying in the public limelight and getting back on telly or in a paper. Look how many stories these days have 'quotes' from people taken from Twitter.
-
It's just a form of communication - how people choose to use it is up to them and if they're too thick to take responsibility for their actions then that is their fault not Twitter's or anyone else. Plus, it's designed to communicate with anyone who wants to listen, not just your friends. I find it a very useful tool for business and an interesting one for personal use. The Saints players who use it have got a perfect balance, and know that their every word is being read by thousands of people. The problem is the lack of education of some of the people using it, not the medium itself.

I would agree with a lot of that, my only query possibly being Cork still being in for Hammond, but on the bench at the very least. I think Derby are the kind of team Cork will do well against and he's slightly sharper on the ball than Deano. As said above, nothing against Guly personally, but Puncheon has shown a little more in his last few outings to warrant a start IMO, whilst I think Sharp absolutely needs to play again as he is getting into good positions and WILL score soon.

Has anyone posted the picture on there yet? Look forward to hearing the reactions when they do...

And here's Sam's whinging... http://www.kumb.com/story.php?id=126016

Interesting transcript of the press conference for the written press after the game: http://www.kumb.com/story.php?id=126017 Adkins is quite right to not actually get drawn into saying whether a ref has had a 'good' game or not. To try and summarise a host of difficult decisions in an important game like this in one word, is a bit silly. But then the press need their soundbites and they like manager who give them something a bit controversial or tasty. Big Sam obliged (and got it wrong) but Nigel is far more calculated. It IS infuriating for some, but I think he's spot on.

Erm, wow. Just wow. That has to be a West Ham 'fan' given when the account was set-up. I doubt there is any feeling even remotely approaching that from Donny fans. Some people need a bit of perspective in their lives. And a damn good slap.

Frankly he reminds me of Rickie a bit when he first arrived... clearly a good player, clearly got talent, but can get even better if he works on his fitness even more. And look at Rickie now...

I don't just want to gush here, but having just watched the excellent All Angles Covered on Saints Player, I was left once again thinking something that crept into my mind some weeks ago. We've all seen how Lambert's game has improved markedly this season and his involvement in and linking of so much of our play reminds me slightly of another intelligent player who revelled 'in the hole': Teddy Sheringham. To be honest I actually think Lambert has better physical attributes, but his awareness, touch, control and passing ability, as well as the obvious shooting ability (power AND placement) remind me of Sheringham at his best. Do others see it? Or perhaps there are better comparisons? Rickie obviously has yet to make it at the top level, and he may not do so, but he's certainly showing many of the qualities that you need at the top level other than just putting the ball in the back of the net.

Fair enough. I think you're getting a bit defensive about it, perhaps in light of other responses, and indeed I'm not looking for the 'truth' because it is not a matter of right or wrong... I was hoping for a more specific critique so I could put your opinion into context - some idea of your expectations perhaps and therefore why he fell short of it. I'm just trying to get the bigger picture and actually, I find you learn more in the minority comments (whether you agree or disagree) than the majority, because that person has picked up on something more subtle or less well-observed by the majority. Anyway, let's see what the Football League Show has to offer...
-
Indeed, and I didn't suggest anything of the sort... you're quite right to call it as you see it, but I just wonder if, given the weight of response to the contrary, whether that might cause you to reconsider at all? Unlike others I'm not saying you're wrong or criticising you, just genuinely wonder how you came to your conclusion.
-
I'm not qualified to comment as I wasn't there, but it has to be said that you're the only person posting so far who thinks this and let's be honest, there are numerous people usually willing to criticise him.

How many we got Steve? I'm still not sure but will try and let you know ASAP.

Following on from his Millwall post-match comments... let's hope some of that passion is transferred across to the players.

On this point I think it's worth pointing out that it's very similar to having a serious allegation made against you at work, resulting in your being suspended pending an investigation. There is no judgement passed and no sanction, however if the allegation is serious enough then the employer is well within their rights to take this action because of the potential ramifications. It also allows the investigation to continue without hindrance, reduces distraction in the workplace, and reduces the risk of the individual being treated differently or unfairly pending the outcome. Now, I know this isn't strictly the same because it is not the employer taking the action, but I think there are enough similarities to warrant the comparison and, ultimately, think the FA did the right thing. If Fabio disagreed he should've spoken to the FA privately and directly, not through the press.

Saints V Millwall FA Cup Replay Match Thread!
Minty replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Credit to Bart so far tonight, he's made some smart saves to keep Millwall at bay.
