So take that up with the AAIB. That's my point. The Malaysians are clearly getting a lot of advice and information, and I'm not for one minute saying they're doing a fantastic job, but I would not be so quick to condemn. Given the reputation of the AAIB, I think most countries would've acted similarly given such information.
-
The information came from Inmarsat and was backed up by the AAIB. I don't think that's irresponsible. As I said earlier, I think it's way too early for some of these judgements to be made.

The thing that I love most about Rodriguez is that he is far from the finished article. He's good already, getting better all the time, and could be frightening in a year or two. Think how good he could become. That is exciting.

I don't know yet. I wasn't covering every eventuality, just focusing on what I think the current thinking should be... finding the aircraft. I don't know when might be an appropriate time to go beyond that, and would look to the likes of the AAIB and others to guide when search actions perhaps should be scaled back, but I would suggest it will be some time yet.

"... is what it feels like." Changes the whole context. I understand the anxiety and doubt, because whilst there are few hard facts, it is human nature to speculate. It is important to remain open-minded, whatever natural feeling we have on it, but above all else, I don't think it is helpful in the slightest to start shifting blame around for what are perceived delays or distractions. Step 1 - find the plane. Step 2 - find out what happened. Step 3 - review the search and investigation itself to see what could've been done better. Starting with step 3 as so many seem to want to do, helps no one IMO.

I wasn't commenting on your personal diet VW. And I completely agree one size does not fit all - hence the point I repeatedly make on various subjects... people need to stop taking media reports as gospel, and go and do their own research and decide for themselves on the best path. But that still doesn't change my original point that eating healthily will, on average, lead to a healthier life and less chance of disease etc. Well there you go then, it's clearly NOT a scare story for you, because you've looked at it and made your mind up. So for the third and final time... this is all about common sense. There will always be studies that 'discover' new things or claim others. Just like a Saints result, people need to stop overreacting when it's potentially 'bad news', but not get their hopes up so much if it's 'good news'. It all comes down to education and using these stories as a starting point to learn more and have a balanced view.
-
Good luck, looks like a nice route.

There will always be exceptions, but the underlying theme is that if you eat healthier then you lessen the chance of dying earlier and/or from a specific nasty. That is still common sense to me. If it scares you then I would suggest that is less the stories fault than your own interpretation of what they are saying. There is still much we don't know about our bodies, about health conditions, about what we inherit from our ancestors or not, so it would always be wrong to suggest that healthy eating is the be-all and end-all. But rather than looking at it as a scare story, perhaps you should consider it to be more like highlighting the potential benefits of a healthy diet as we currently understand it?

Why do you think that is? Bad fruit-related experience as a child?!? I dread to think actually...

Bring it on. Lets see Liverpool win the title, Pompey get a million quid... and then watch with a smile as it gets ******ed away just like all the rest. They haven't really changed and they won't be anywhere near League 1, let alone the Prem, for years. It would almost be funnier to see them get their hopes up by receiving this money, and then realising it won't change a thing, because they're such a poorly run club.
-
Oh, and it really isn't a scare story - just common sense.
-
There are actually different guidelines across many different countries. Bottom line generally is the more fruit and veg people the better. The whole 5-a-day thing was primarily a marketing exercise, just to try and encourage people to eat more, but if everyone just tried to increase the amount they had, rather than aim for a specific number, then that would be a start.

You flew ABOVE 26000 knots at some point? What were you, a Space Shuttle captain?
-
Presumably you mean if the cabin were to become unpressurised AND the oxygen masks didn't operate or ran out (I have no idea how long they last)? This is an excellent article about it: http://www.avweb.com/news/aeromed/181893-1.html It depends on what the aircraft is doing but even at just around 15,000ft, prolonged time at that altitude can lead to death...

Come on Duncan, lets do that picture justice:

The first question I would be asking is who the 'Malaysian team' is, to get some idea of how legitimate this information is, before looking into the actual information.
-
What exactly constitutes 'all over' though? How will we know when to close the thread?
-
I love the fact that the PFA nomination form requires the team of the year to be 4-4-2... good to know they're keeping in touch with modern football!
-
Another one for the hero-turned-villain conveyor belt.
-
I didn't realise football clubs could do quantitative easing.
-
I was hoping that he'd be due some compensation... there would've something almost poetic about the fact that he, a manager who could well be significantly responsible for their ultimate relegation out of the Football League, would sit alongside players who won them the FA Cup thanks to their unsustainable wages, on the same list of footballing debts. We certainly owe them all a debt of gratitude.
-
And to think I spent all of 6 minutes photoshopping that picture of Barker this morning... A bit like a Skate's £1000 'share' in Pompey, I'll never get that back.
-
Damn. Personally I reckon Awford will keep them up. Just by not having a complete f*ckwit in charge should be enough, even with their squad.
