  1. Do you not think that international law should be upheld? Russia is acting illegally and we should just 'accept it'?
  2. Presumably the kind of intervention implied is military? If we were to 'do something' I think it should only be as a near last resort, and only as part of a wider agreed NATO programme. We certainly shouldn't be doing anything yet and certainly not on our own, and I don't think we ever would anyway. All diplomatic channels should be exhausted before any military action is sanctioned IMO.
  3. Didn't realise this. He won't remember me now but I used to know him when i first worked at Southampton Airport and he flew a private aircraft from there 20 years ago before the new terminal opened. As for the Malaysians I think some slack needs to be allowed because they need to check and verify information and know eyes are watching. This is not a race, as much as everyone wants information as soon as possible, it has to be correct. And being so unprecedented an incident (relatively) I think some of the demands being made are unreasonable. Judgements are being made when the focus should be entirely on working together for the sake of the passengers and their families.
  4. Jesus, that reptilian thing is so easy to disprove, it's all about the light from the sun, the reflection of that light off the skin, and the poor quality of the camera. As a result, the camera burns out the bits of the fingers where light is reflected towards the camera because it is so bright. Anyway, back to MH370.

I think we're a little way from that just yet.
  6. Having worked in ATC, I can also say that although primary radar is quite basic in its appearance, two aircraft of that size would have to be extremely, nay unfeasibly, close for it to look like one single return.
  7. Agreed... not sure who suggested banning him? Wasn't me though...
  8. I like the like/dislike idea. It's always easy to criticise others in these kinds of situation, be that fellow posters or mods however the greatest power we have is over our own posts and reactions, so it ultimately comes down to the individual to moderate their own behaviour, irrespective of what moderators do. It's a hard line for mods to draw to know what is appropriate and what isn't, which is why nature taking it's course is often best... threads that no one contributes to will drop down the page, and naturally disappear. They've been criticised time and again for things they have deleted, and then get slated for things they haven't. That said, Mods do have a duty to at least review a posters posts if there is a view that they may be trolling and make a decision if necessary. Finally - sadly - some people in life have nothing but a negative outlook and so their posts simply reflect that. That is life. I know a few people like it in real life but no one removes them from the pub when they're going on...!
  9. As someone who would confess to being somewhat ignorant of the history of our continent, I found this quite interesting. Shame about the music though. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=14d_1348362692 It's not perfect by any means, but it does give an interesting representation.
  10. It really isn't that weird. Plenty of real-life pilots have difference simulator set-ups at home. For some, flying is a religion and they just love flying one way or another.
  11. Sorry, don't agree with that at all. How does keeping possession = boring football? It just means keeping possession! What a team then does with it is secondary. Some teams keep it far too long and don't get anywhere, others try to force an opening too soon and lose the ball, some rely on individual players to unlock the door, others rely on quick interplay and good movement to create space... and there's plenty of other things that teams do or don't do with the ball. Yes, keeping possession and not doing anything productive with it can be boring, but keeping possession in itself is not boring.
  12. As much as I don't think there's much evidence for the captain being involved in anything like what has been suggested above, it's only fair to say that all any of us can do at the moment is speculate and theorise. Anything is possible.
  13. Here's a ground breaking idea. Ignore him.
  14. I must admit, given who we have to play I think it's an ideal run of games to prove our credentials... if we can get a few good results and get amongst them, even if not above them, then that would be a good springboard for players and fans alike, to go into next season with more optimism. It may also help attract transfer targets if they think they can be one of the pieces of the jigsaw that help us in our quest for European football.
  15. For me, yesterdays game highlighted how we miss Corks control and awareness in that position. He rarely gives the ball away, and is often put under a lot of pressure in that same position, yet consistently shows supreme awareness of his own teammates and opposition players around in to keep the ball moving and hold possession. JWP did ok yesterday and he will continue to get better, but Cork is exceptional in that role, so we missed him. For all that Wanyama gives us, Cork is the better option for us IMO. That said, the first goal conceded yesterday was clearly down to Fonte's rushed wayward pass and it didn't matter who was playing. As others have said, the second goal could've been prevented even after Guly gave it away. It was a loose pass, but one he should've made, and relatively low risk... he just ballsed it up. But after that we didn't track the runners very well at all even then Snodgrass did well/got a bit lucky to score from where he was... Boruc will be disappointed. All in all it will probably do us some good to focus minds a bit but we need to stick with our philosophy... just as Barry highlights Rogers had said. We just make sure the players are good enough to carry it out. And most of the time we are. You don't make progress without the odd setback along the way.
  16. I'm not convinced of any particular theory yet, this is simply too unprecedented IMO. In actual fact, the longer it goes on at the moment, the more inclined I am to believe that it was landed safely somewhere. But that's nothing more than a gut feel.
  17. Are you suggesting that the PST have an elevated opinion of themselves and their role in the running (into the ground) of PFC?
  18. Will be tight and could go either way IMO depending on one mistake or one piece of brilliance, be it individual or team. Both sides can be very capable, but both can be very frustrating at times. Wouldn't like to call it to be honest.
  19. Can't argue with any of that from our point of view... i just wonder how the Swindon manager has got the idea that there might be some kind of long-term arrangement possible for Stephens, given that he is apparently only looking at options for next season... have we given some indication of our longer-term intentions already perhaps?
  20. Being the (relatively) new owner of a decent music system that has Internet radio, I wonder what radio stations you listen to from the UK or around the world? Any recommendations, as I like to widen my horizons a bit?
  21. Interesting comments from their end... So will Stephens be allowed to leave completely? Or perhaps a loan next season? Or perhaps he's mistaken and Stephens has a role to play here next year? http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/11080831._/?
  22. Well I guess with Saints winning, you need something to moan about.
  23. Not that Glasgow will have noticed.
  24. Well, we can claim the assists for all 5...
  25. Your fault. ;-)
