Why does this (sadly) not surprise me? From the BBC. Accepting that there may be culpability once we find some evidence and investigate it fully... the fact is that currently there is none, and the efforts should still be on finding the aircraft. I may be wrong, but that stinks of a law firm seeing a money-making opportunity, just as is often the case with lawsuits these days.

Well, we'd better not waste any time then had we! http://i57.tinypic.com/9u5iys.png ... and a larger version if anyone wants it. http://i61.tinypic.com/5ck17s.png

Press conference in Brazil to announce discovery in Outer Solar System
Minty replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
*Alpine's* scrutiny only exists in English. -
Yeah, was reported at the daily news conference an hour or so ago... picked up by Airbus satellite images. Sounds like we're getting closer IMO.

Hang on. Have we all missed something else here? Are Catlin and Barker actually plants, put in place to ensure the ultimate demise of Pompey, via some genius Football League plan? The FL didn't feel they could apply another 10 point penalty, so they colluded with other teams to put in place a 'dream team' to do the job for them? Don't rule it out.

Northampton hit the post in the 8th minute of injury time...
-
Make that 6-0!
-
Eastleigh 5-0 up, Bromley still 1-1 in Conference South btw.
-
Man Utd getting completely outplayed by City, confirming their place as mid-table also-rans, and Pompey on the brink of the Conference. Not a bad evening.

Don't give yourself away colin - you'll be banned quicker than you can say 'WTFILN'...

If GD is level, is goals scored still used to decide place? If so, need Rochdale to put another couple away just to make sure.
-
Imagine the psychological blow if Pompey were to be in the bottom two tonight. Awesome.
-
1-1 at HT.
-
Come on ex-Saint Olly Lancashire, playing for Rochdale tonight!
-
I even impressed myself.
-
And of course Pompey's situation is very similar to AFC Wimbledon's... given how everyone loves Pompey and thinks they've been hard done by and all that...
-
Just because it differs from your opinion, doesn't make it any less valid. I think he has improved a lot this season. He's far from the consistent performer I'm not writing him off.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

Not really, this is about greater extremes. -
I've done some research which I think you'll find enlightening, trying to find the one constant throughout Pompey's descent down the leagues. Let's start with Barker. Yes, he's a **** manager, but he's not been the only one over the last few years, and to his credit, he has created a side which delivers far more than the sum of its parts: i.e. the players are all sh!t, but collectively, they're even MORE sh!t than we could've hoped. Quite impressive really. There have been several other managers in the last few years, during each stage of their decline. Each may have contributed a small part, but none have been at the club for the duration, so you can't really pin it on them. So, it must be the players surely? Well, no, because the turnover of players has also been huge, and few have been at the club long enough to make a real impact. And bless 'em, several managers have also been *protecting* many of the younger players from harm by sending them out on loan. So not their fault. Must be the owners then. Of course! But which one? Same as before, lots of owners, all played a part, but none of them at the club long enough to really take ownership of the shambles and responsibility for their ineptitude. Just like the players and the managers. An honourable mention for the Football League, who must've played a part in all this? But the decline started in the Premier League, not the Football League, and if they really wanted to stick the boot in, there would've been another 10 point penalty this season. There wasn't, so they can't really care that much. So, having eliminated all other possible sources... we're left with: The fans! Who else could it be? Only the fans have, as they've told us time and again, stuck with the club throughout. So maybe they need to wake up and realise that actually, the reason they are where they are, and heading the way they're heading, must be down to them! And so the solution is simple: Support another club and Pompey will be saved!

No. Please enlighten me.

Let's pretend that's not the answer for a mo... I was hoping for an actual explanation. Give the guy a chance etc, etc...

It seems we've been wrong all along. They didn't spend money they didn't have to buy the FA Cup... they clearly DID have the money at some point! Which makes their subsequent plummet all the more funny really.

Indeed. And think of the wider implications that kind of thinking would have. Through training and certification we put trust in pilots, doctors, air traffic controllers, engineers, the military, you name it... any scenario where a single person has influence over tens, hundreds maybe thousands of others *could* be a situation in which that 'lone rogue individual' has power over others' lives. We can't live in a world like that. We don't live in a world like that. We do need to continually improve our studies into and understanding of mental health and the reasons why people do things, but without inherent trust, what would the world end up like?

How do you come to that conclusion?

You could've deleted my post if you'd wanted, I really wouldn't have cared! ;-) Important thing is that Echo back page. And my, how glorious it looks.
