  2. Maloney over Gaston though? No thank you. I also don't know why people get the opinion Gaston is going to go this summer. We've still got the likes of Forte and Barnard sitting around.
  3. Hi guys, I wrote this article about youth development in Britain, utilising some past quotes that I obtained in an interview. I've been trying some new stuff recently, writing on different topics, generating different articles etc. It's for a little project work I am doing, so any comments or opinions will be useful. All feedback welcome, it's something new for me: http://connorarmstrong.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/time-for-youth-development-to-move-on.html

  7. Good tribute from the club to pay their respects too.
  8. Ex-Saint died today aged 55. He struggled with pick's disease and required 24/7 care in the lead up to his death. Sad news. RIP Kevin
  9. Sky Blues' manager Steven Pressley has confirmed that talks are underway to make Aaron Martin's loan move to Coventry permanent.
  10. My favourite bit of coverage of Redknapp's appointment...
  11. Does anyone know who this girl is?
  12. A year since promotion, seems crazy. But, time flies when you're.... having fun? Found this today... Great memories and probably the season I will always remember Adkins by, was a good little team - most of whom are still about the club. Where do you think we will be this time next year? P.S. Does Cortese look like letting us down on his promise of the club not being relegated whilst he is chairman - as many suggested?
  13. Cannot stop laughing at this. The idiocy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLPVkJSRS_s
  14. ..as the title says. Phil Brown - a real muppet show.

  17. I bet Gaston is pleased Fox joined him with the red card club. This would've been all about him if Fox hadn't... ....always has to be a scapegoat.
  18. Disappointing - and two reds.
  19. Mayuka has an Israeli agent.
  20. Summary: He didn’t know the background situation when he signed for Saints Liked Jan Poortvliet, he had good ideas but was inexperienced and the English Championship needs experience. When Saints were going down, he remembers there were some big arguments between players, everyone was worrying about how it would affect their families and were concerned for the club. Cortese had an offer from a club for Morgan, he called Morgan in and rejected the offer right in front of Schneiderlin’s face and said “Morgan, I know you are just 18 – but you are going to grow with this club, just like Adam Lallana” Nicola doesn’t just say things, he does them – and he does them in front of you Believed the ambition when Lambert signed, and the likes of Lallana also committed to the club In League One he couldn’t finish a game without being tired after 50 minutes In England, it is so different how you play – it is so open When I came, I was alone and 18 and my lifestyle wasn’t the same as it is now After a game, I did not know what to do – ony mday off, maybe I did not do the right thing His family told him he had to get it sorted He had a nutritionist provided to bring food to his house, and felt like a different man It was a big thing to get my first goal, I wanted to improve my game in this area The goal made me score all the ones since, it was a nice goal as well, I was very happy I had no doubt that we would compete in the Championship Everyone was saying to me, do you think you can stay up and go for the Premier League? I told them, “Yeah, you’ll see, you’ll see…” My French friends didn’t believe me, I told them “you will see” We were always in the top two, it was just a normal thing I knew 100% we would go up after we played Leeds United away, Kelvin was amazing but we didn’t play well At 4-0 up against Coventry, I looked up and around me and thought “wow, this is amazing” and we just kept the ball It was amazing, the dream came true and you just think about everything that had happened and think “happy days” We knew before the game, at 8am I knew I had no pressure on me. People were saying “Morgan, it’s the game of your life, what’s wrong?” but I felt no pressure, I knew we were strong. Coventry had nothing to lose, but we knew that if we played 90+ of our best we would win This summer, I enjoyed a few weeks but then I told myself it was time to do the right things I told myself “this is my year” Leading up to Manchester City, I was nervous, thinking “can we cope against them?” The day before that game is the most nervous I have been all-season Now a game in Premier League for me is just like Championship or League One, just another game Think we lost a lot of those early games because we were thinking too much about it In League One to Championship, we thought we would do well In Championship to Premier League, we thought we’d be the new Swansea – but it doesn’t work like that I never thought we would get relegated, but you just question yourself When we lost against West Ham 4-1, we were 15 or 16 points behind them and you think “oh god” and hope we are not going to be the next Derby County with low points We knew that we were better than Reading, we knew that we were better than Sunderland, how could we lose that game to them? This second part of the season, we are a lot stronger Before, we won some games, but we missed things But now, even Wigan and United away – we showed how far we had come Even last week from Swansea, they had 15 minutes at the start and 25 at the end and we would have lost that game before It shows how far we have come, we did not have any experience Now we all know what we need to do in certain circumstances I am happy because I think I improve every single game But I know I have two or three steps to progress That will come with matches, I am only 23 years old and I just don’t want to stop This year, ok I had a good season, but next year I want to be even better For me, next year is the real time to prove myself to everyone Everything Nicola promised to me happened, and if everything that he said to me when I signed my new contract happens, it will be even better Big things are going to happen to Southampton in the next three years Next year will be a big season for us We will sign other quality players, to add to the squad I am sure there are plenty of good things coming for Southampton I hope we can finish top ten this season, that was our aim Then next season, the next step. Finish Top 6. I am sure people will say “no chance, no top six” and laugh at me We have shown that even against the big teams we can do it Now we need to do it against all the other teams, teams that are under us We will next year I like this city, I know every place I say to those people, keep laughing, we will see who is laughing in the end
  21. Emmanuel Mayuka's agent, Nir Karin: “Southampton didn’t say anything and he has four more years on his contract. Next season, Mayuka is in Southampton. I don’t know who’s this ‘source’ you all copy from, Mayuka knows his situation better and he fights for his place. We believe he will play more next season. He’s just 22 and maybe you forgot he helped bring you the Africa Cup. Sad that the Zambia football family doesn’t help each other and focuses on bad things only and rumours. That’s one of the reasons you have so few players in Europe." Comments from the Zambian Daily Mail, full article - here: http://www.daily-mail.co.zm/?p=5360
  22. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10380794.Pochettino_targets_Champions_League_spot_next_season/?ref=twt Seems more like he is just saying we should do our best and see what happens - rather than realistically targeting the UCL. But, I suppose it makes for a better story for the DE with the way it has been put!
  23. Southend in 2007? Championship season I think.
